  1. Weird that our mediocre offense has 2 reps but our fantastic pitching staff has 0. I'm glad Bryant made it, though. And Arrieta could still slip in as a replacement.
  2. I think there's a definite attitude, as Morosi said in his recent article, that the FO would like to go get a starting pitcher that will be around next year, which would serve as a this-year upgrade while also checking off an offseason item. The question is who that pitcher is, because as you say there aren't a ton of sellers right now.
  3. CCP described it better than I did. I want to upgrade, and hopefully a good opportunity to do so presents itself, but the unusual set of circumstances we're in makes an 'all-in' type move seem unlikely. If we do get the opportunity for a kick-ass asset at a reasonable price, even if that price includes one of our top guys, I hope Theo goes for it. Right now, we're definitely in a seller's market, though. Prices aren't going to necessarily be reasonable, and we're likely going to be in the wild-card game anyway. I can't deal with another 3 months of this. What would you have us do given that any pitcher we would acquire only has a 50/50 chance of actually pitching for us in a playoff game (presuming we don't start said pitcher in the WC game)?
  4. 27 years old AAAA-type, high slugging most of the way through the minors. Probably a mix of both.

The more I think about it, the more I want an offensive upgrade over pitching if we're doing something for this year.
  6. Only UMFan's teams. I have that same thing though. Zbikowski punt return in 05 USC game (which I attended), the first 37 minutes of the Kentucky game, all the Cubs ones you mentioned, Muhammad's TD in the Super Bowl, etc.
  7. Theo is saying he's not going to overpay, and if we can't make a serious run at the division, I'm fine with that. That said, he'll find a trade.
  8. I really like Kris Bryant. Two gorgeous swings.
  9. We need some offense, really bad. I don't know where we get it from but if we're making a deadline move it needs to be for that.
  10. His mindset was probably that someone has to lose, so maybe we can gain ground on somebody.
  11. So it's what Coghlan, probably Castro and Baxter against Ramos? Oy.
  12. Way to take advantage of that lucky ball 2 call there, Denorfia
  13. With terrible Roach pitching tomorrow, it'd be cool to win this game.
  14. STL is about to lose again. Them sweeping us basically got canceled out.
  15. Wood coming in. Good decision, and great work Arrieta.
  16. Agreed, we have a billion relievers, let someone who hasn't worked a while pitch one. And it can't be good for Ramirez' efforts to get back into form to sit for basically a week after his first outing. And Arrieta's next scheduled start is against St. Louis. No harm in saving a few bullets for that game.
  17. Actually, he's been pretty good (or at least tolerable) for a while now. He had a .733 OPS in June after a .789 in May.
  18. Agreed, we have a billion relievers, let someone who hasn't worked a while pitch one.
