  1. Boston was mentioned, but I'm pretty sure Cubs are favorites at this point.
  2. I've actually gone the other way. I think the fact that they're in all these reports indicate the Cubs are going to do something. Just couldn't guess what.
  3. Gammons claiming we're down to 'small move for a reliever' and says all parties are denying the 3-team deal was ever a thing
  4. Rosenthal has source saying Wood a 'long shot'
  5. Wood is almost certainly a smokescreen, but what an enticing smokescreen.
  6. Ross has a FIP just a shade better than Lester's. I can't lie, I'm getting fired up at the prospect of landing him.
  7. Prospect guys have any thoughts on Pineyro? Elliot Soto is a nothing, but just from surface numbers Pineyro looks like a decent return from Miami's perspective.
  8. I hadn't even thought about trading Hendricks, but if the Cubs think he won't get better than he is now, maybe it is the time to sell pretty high on him. This should be interesting.
  9. Yep. Haren pitched yesterday. All the more reason to believe this isn't it.
  10. Worley has a better FIP but has been used as a reliever of late and probably couldn't eat as many innings as Haren can.
  11. [tweet] [/tweet] Doesn't mean we won't trade with SD ourselves, but 3-teamer appears to be off.
  12. "Multiple Minor Leaguers"?!? Ugh. That doesn't mean we gave up anyone good. I'd be stunned if anyone with even a breath of future on this team was moved.
  13. I'm thinking/hoping this is a 'break glass in case of emergency' backup plan in case Theo can't get the right price on Ross.
  14. And it's not like he consistently outperforms them either. In fact he had underperformed his peripherals more often than not prior to this season. Alarm bells all over the place.
  15. 4.57 FIP. 4.55 xFIP. This had better be a sixth starter/long reliever/depth move.
  16. Carrasco would be a terrific move, but Cleveland's supposedly been asking for the moon for him.
  17. Lou Brock had 7 seasons where he had more WAR than Castro has ever had through year 6. I think we're ok.
  18. I don't want to give up Baez in this trade, either, mind you...but you think Tyson Ross is an "average end of the rotation pitcher?" what kind of control would we have over Ross? What's his contract like? I honestly don't know. And I'm on my phone at a boring law conference, so I don't want to screw around on Google trying to find out. I'm sure you know, so tell me. Years of cheap control over Baez isn't something I want to give up lightly. Ross is controllable through 2018.
  19. Broxton has been bad but his peripherals indicate he shouldn't be as bad as he has been. That plus the inevitable STL performance bump means that's probably a good acquisition.
  20. I would hope Theo wouldn't give up Baez for a reliever. If we really move Javy, we'd better be getting Ross.
  21. Sox have been linked to Kimbrel, we've been linked to Ross, SD and Castro is apparently a thing. I wonder what other pieces might be in there. Venable? And who do the Sox give up in such a deal?
