  1. Indeed, and if I get concrete information the Cubs could've done more by not giving up pieces of this year's team at the deadline I'll shred them. Like I said, though, the fact neither of their big targets were moved to anyone would suggest the price was high and 2015 Cubs players would've had to be moved to get them.
  2. What? It was benching him in October, in short playoff series, that annoyed me, not in September of a division race they had sewn up. That and no effort was made to stretch out his innings with extra rest or anything once it became clear they were going to be in the playoffs. I dare anyone to tell me they wouldn't be pissed if the Cubs did something like that in the same situation.
  3. 1)Keeping your own good player on the field and trading things to get another asset is not the same thing. 2) Incoherent game thread whining aside, I never came to a final decision on what I wanted the Cubs to do at the deadline. I was certainly hopeful we would land Carrasco or Ross, but the fact neither of them were moved to anyone suggests the price for either would've cost the Cubs things that could've helped them this year.
  4. I'm still annoyed on Nats fans behalf that they did what they did with Strasburg 3 years ago. The future is never promised.
  5. If we could get a great start each out of Lester and Arrieta, that hypothetical series would be crazy winnable.
  6. Looks like Rondon is coming out again. Unless he gets it done really quickly that probably knocks him out tomorrow right?
  7. We're up 3, we should be able to finish it without doing that
  8. Busting Rondon out for Duffy and Posey in the 8th is why Joe is a good manager
  9. Great day from Lester. Should've had 7 shutout
  10. He should be out, foot on bag when he caught it
  11. Coming from the team that's won 3 titles this decade while not once being even close to the best team. That's rich
  12. He got a hit a while back. Don't think he has walked.
  13. If he becomes the kind of hitter he can be that trade is going to go down as one of the all-time steals.
  14. Apparently the rationale is to clear 2017 money. Chris Johnson went to Cleveland in the deal.
  15. There are too many legitimate options for shirseys now for a Chicago resident only owning a Castro to be acceptable. I've picked up Russell, Bryant and Schwarber on my trips to games this year. My Castro is essentially a pajama shirt at this point.

    Castro

I'm not super familiar with ADD/ADHD in a 'I've been around it' sense, but wouldn't it take more than just the occasional mental lapse to credibly say there's a chance someone has it? That seems like a writer trying way too hard to find a different angle during a long baseball season.
  17. Castro benched, Schwarber LF, Coghlan 2B, Russell SS. Joe going all-in on offense today.
  18. We had nothing interesting Cubs-related to talk about in years past.
  19. I like being aggressive but it wouldn't have just taken a decent throw or relay. Basically anything that wasn't spiked or thrown to the backstop was going to have him out by a wide margin. That ball was ripped and he was 2-3 steps away from 3rd when the LF had it and not all that deep. with a 3 run lead, that extra run is gravy so it's not like you're dead if he's out. starlin castro is up next and he is not good. i'd rather gamble on them [expletive] that play up than starlin getting a hit there (or not making an out and then the next guy getting a hit). I'd rather gamble on the .238 chance that Castro gets a hit than what I anticipate was the far less than that chance of SF [expletive] that play up. Lobbed throws would've nailed Rizzo on that play.
  20. And instead there's a definite nonzero chance that his contributions will prove the difference in getting us in the playoffs. There's one none of us could've guessed.
  21. That pitch to K Crawford was the nastiest thing I've seen in a long time. Great way to start the series.
