  1. Trouble is, once guys start getting injured all the time, they pretty much never stop.
  2. Funnily enough, that's basically how my friends answer my angry Cubs texts.
  3. I just caught the end of it, bananas.
  4. To amend Kyle's point, sustained success never starts with tanking unless you're also cheating.
  5. Javy was the first prospect I ever fell for. I remember him smashing a spring training homer well over 400 feet to dead center and thinking he was the Cubs best power hitter right then and there. I'll always be attached to him.
  6. How many damn strike calls is this guy gonna miss
  7. I hate jersey ad patches and they are all awful. On that scale, these are not bad. But they are still awful.
  8. Buster Olney said in his ESPN+ column today that Hector Neris could be a prime candidate to go on waivers in August as a salary dump, noting several teams employed that measure last season.
  9. Hector Neris 2.0!
  10. It occurs to me that these sorts of moves are a natural byproduct of buyers being far less willing to trade impact prospects anymore, no matter how good the player coming back is. When the price gets lower, it produces a chance to think creatively.
  11. I've been to 3 games this year - 2 on the annual bleacher trip I do with a buddy, and 1 with my wife, who loves Wrigley and tries to get me to take her once a year. Just the 4 tickets I bought to those games came in at north of $300 (they're weekend games, so yeah), and that doesn't factor in the travel costs of us getting there from out of town + food, etc. It's pretty nuts.
  12. The last time a White Sox pitcher had a grievance, he sliced up uniforms in the clubhouse. Crochet could just sabotage the jersey of the guy they want to start instead.
  13. The stated reason is that with the clock rules changing last year to only stop after first downs inside of two minutes left in the half, the 'warning' will make it easier for the people keeping the clock to make the change. The powers that be have said there will be no extra commercial breaks from the institution of the rule, but even if that's true this year, it won't be soon.
  14. The front office absolutely will not allow that option to be exercised.
  15. Prefacing this with I know Neris has been good lately, but I will never trust him on the mound and he just took about 3 minutes to give the Brewers the lead.
  16. That bad strike 1 call totally took him out of the AB. This team is the same as it ever was
  17. Everyone feels like this but we seem to get close to the big escape without finishing it off an awful lot
  18. Holy hell the contact play might have actually gotten somebody else for once
  19. With the zone this ump is calling it's no wonder. Seiya, as always, getting the worst of it.
  20. FWIW Mooney said in The Athletic today that the Cubs aren't planning on buying. I think this roster is pretty much what we'll see in August.
  21. In retrospect, we all really should've seen the writing on the wall when they drew 6 bases loaded walks in one damn inning and still lost the game.
  22. I looked it up at some point and I think we were in the top 10 in MLB something like 7 of the past 25 seasons but in the bottom handful far more often. You'd think RISP isn't a repeatable skill but apparently sucking at it is
  23. That half inning is basically this season in 10 minutes. This team is hilarious. Can't believe this front office thought horsefeathers invisible manager voodoo was what this team was missing and not better players.
