  1. I was paying attention in 2013 and have never heard that name in my entire life.
  2. Getting a good piece like Warren makes me feel better about signing Zobrist.
  3. 4/56 strikes me as way too damn much for Zobrist. Maybe I'm overly attached to Castro but given their ages are we really looking at THAT huge a difference between their next 4 years?
  4. Obviously his service time was being manipulated, but once he was in AAA to start the season, what exactly should the Cubs have done after Olt's injury to make it look less transparent? Play Buckethead Herrera at third for 2 weeks?
  5. In a weird way I almost prefer the Cubs' history to rooting for teams that won a bunch before I was old enough to enjoy it and now don't as much. It would be nice if they had stumbled into a title somewhere in there though, just so mouth-breathing idiots couldn't crack 1908 jokes all the time and we didn't hear stories about 85 year old grandparents dying without seeing a title.

  7. They would have been in anyway. That ridiculous play just freed the committee from being hypocrites about the importance of conference titles.
  8. I think it's $6 million the ACC, who employs all those officials, gets when Clemson gets into the playoff. So Clemson vs Oklahoma and MSU vs Bama is pretty much a lock, I assume. Are you assuming Clemson drops to 2 or MSU jumps OU? The latter. I'd actually have MSU at 2 (they have FOUR better wins than Alabama's best one), but that's irrelevant.
  9. One of the tightest Heisman decisions in a while. Watson, Henry, McCaffrey all deserving, and Dalvin Cook is as good as any of them. McCaffrey should win it, Henry will win it. I would agree on both counts.
  10. I think it's $6 million the ACC, who employs all those officials, gets when Clemson gets into the playoff. So Clemson vs Oklahoma and MSU vs Bama is pretty much a lock, I assume.
  11. 22 PLAYS! Unbelievable.
  12. One of the tightest Heisman decisions in a while. Watson, Henry, McCaffrey all deserving, and Dalvin Cook is as good as any of them.
  13. Florida is [expletive] horrible.
  14. USC was "in disarray" by your standard the whole rest of the season too and can win the Pac 12 tonight. But I'm not sure why ND is part of this discussion anyway. My opinion that you are spectacularly overrating Ole Miss has nothing to do with them.
  15. Advanced stats think USC is pretty damn good, and Navy is better than either of those 2 also. LSU and Mississippi State have combined to do basically nothing. The Alabama win was great and all, but the Tide sleepwalk their way into a loss to some team every year. It doesn't make Ole Miss great.
  16. LSU and Mississippi State are not good teams, Ryne. What's the best win between the two of them? Texas A&M? I guess? They're ok. Not good.
  17. Just wait for an Iowa v Bama game. ZZZZzzzz God that would be just sad. And yet could be the national title game in a month. Haha.
  18. Correct, normally it'd be TCU, but the Big 12 uses its own tiebreaker to determine the Sugar bid. OK State vs Ole Miss is probably the most uninspiring major bowl matchup since Michigan vs VA Tech.
  19. I'm really, really, extremely not high on the idea of paying for an old pitcher coming off a career year driven by outperformance of his peripherals.
  20. 30 teams go back and forth, but the Browns and Lions are forever.
  21. They shouldn't. Stanford played a grueling schedule this year while UNC was beating 2 FCS teams and losing to horrendous South Carolina. Ohio State would have a better chance than UNC.

  23. And can clinch the division with a win next week. This has been a fun year.
  24. I imagine the committee would use the conference champion justification to vault Stanford past them if they beat USC. So they'd probably need 2 upsets. But Alabama is going to beat Florida by 100, so I wouldn't worry. Thanks to the Sugar Bowl's SEC/Big 12 deal, Ole Miss will probably get a major bowl again, so that's kind of neat for them even though it sucks for whoever finishes in the last spot out of the NY6.
  25. I think that's how it should go, but I'd bet UNC would take Clemson's spot, and wouldn't be shocked to see Florida or Stanford take Bama's. Stanford takes Bama's. Florida is flat-out bad and shouldn't be in the playoff even if they somehow stumble ass over tea-kettle into a win over a sleepwalking Bama.
