  1. He means 2007. We clinched at Cincy that year. I was at the game, and Cubs fans had completely taken over the park. It's no surprise pantywaist Thom got all pissy about it.
  2. I so badly want to make a "Jeremiah was a bullfrog" crack here that I'm going to do it even though I can't think of a clever way to word one.
  3. To probably no one's surprise (my inner self is in my 50s), I don't either. Not that this one thing is a valid point in favor of this position, but probably my favorite "meaningless in the big picture but charming" Cubs thing was when nobody Ryan O'Malley randomly had to pitch a game because we'd played 16 innings in Houston the night before, and he pitched 8 innings of brilliant baseball in what he knew would likely be his only MLB appearance. That's something that only happened because we don't do ties.
  4. The beast is here to devour all in its path. Cincinnati is as Tokyo to our dongsmen's Godzilla. Some person named Tim Adleman has been chosen for a human sacrifice by the Reds, who by the grace of their merciful gods have been allowed to hold first place for the time being. That changes this weekend after the mighty champions destroy these foolish pretenders and leave nothing but a smoking, festering hole of pusillanimous ruin behind. Unleash more dongs.
  5. Halfway to my dong predictions being reality. Let's hope Bryant's comes with a couple on base.
  6. This definitely strikes me as a more useful move.
  7. Eh, none of the 3 top OKC players were in their prime yet when they made the Finals. Last year's team very well could have won the title if they hadn't gacked up Game 6.
  8. Manfred's initiatives to speed up the game continue with this decision that's virtually guaranteed to add more time than he just saved with his intentional-walk change. Nah...It'll take like 5 secs for them to say "there wasn't conclusive evidence that such and such occurred". The thing is, if that's all they're going to do, I don't really see the point. Signaling that the play stands already sends that message.
  9. Curry and LeBron have been proven, Durant and Kawhi probably could (maybe Kawhi already has, you could never tell who the single best player was on those Spurs teams from 13-14). Maybe Harden. Wade and Dirk were at one point but obviously aren't now - yeah, probably just those first 5
  10. https://apnews.com/cd85ff8330c7417d9b58db988f5b6bb3/When-fans-see-red,-MLB-men-in-blue-may-soon-explain-replays Manfred's initiatives to speed up the game continue with this decision that's virtually guaranteed to add more time than he just saved with his intentional-walk change.
  11. I don't think even most Celtics fans would disagree with that take - at least not the second part.
  12. What you saw tonight was the awakening of a beast that had been in hibernation. Now the hour of Milwaukee's discontent is upon them. Brutal evisceration is all they have to look forward to as the resurgent Cubs offense continues their journey back to ultimate power. Tommy Milone, someone I did not know was still being paid to pitch in baseball games, likely senses his impending doom at the hands of Kris Bryant and Albert Almora, both of whom are readying their dongs for battle. But he is either too proud or too foolish to make the life-preserving decision to run away. Unleash more dongs.
  13. The Cubs did a very nice thing by allowing other teams to believe they have a chance. The time for that has passed. We have a losing record for the first time in over 2 years. This sort of nonsense demands blood. Unfortunately for Milwaukee, Jimmy Nelson is the man who must pay for their insolence. Unleash the dongs.
  14. Foul or not I can't overstate how much I enjoy that Heyward is making contact like that somewhat regularly
  15. It's sort of funny how, as shoddily as this Bulls team was assembled, it works out kinda perfect against Boston because they're a smaller team and the Bulls can kind of dominate physically on defense (with Butler on Thomas when needed) and rebounding.
  16. First thing I thought of watching Butler shut Thomas down was when the Heat pulled the reverse with LeBron on Rose. If the Bulls win this series, Butler's crunch-time D is going to be why it happens.
  17. Three examples given in that GRB thread why the Cubs team wasn't 'homegrown' (why this matters, I don't know) - Baez, Contreras, Soler - are categorically false as none were ever in another organization. At least they're paying attention.
  18. Our Friday home games are always on MLBN because they're the only game in town. Without ceremonies and such going forward we'll be on national TV far less.
  19. That's the first time you've seen that? The official Cubs account used it all of last year and they may have come up with it before then.
  20. This bum Schwarber needs to learn to run the bases 8-)
  21. Russell's insta-drop of the bat when he knows he got it is my favorite thing.
  22. LMAO Almora is stupid good. And it was Seager again.
  23. Len and JD audio working? My MLB.TV feed has ballpark sounds going, but not them. Seems to be happening often early this season.
