  1. This will make the repeated viewings of my 2016 World Series Blu-rays very slightly more awkward. In seriousness, good for them. Now change it to the Cleveland Spiders or we riot
  2. Conference USA Championship Game (7 pm Friday, CBSSN) UAB at Marshall MAC Championship Game in Detroit (7:30 pm Friday, ESPN) Ball State vs Buffalo Pac-12 Championship Game (8 pm Friday, FOX) Oregon at (13) USC Big Ten Championship Game in Indianapolis (12 pm, FOX) (4) Ohio State vs (14) Northwestern Big 12 Championship Game in Arlington, TX (12 pm, ABC) (10) Oklahoma vs (6) Iowa State ACC Championship Game in Charlotte (4 pm, ABC) (3) Clemson vs (2) Notre Dame Mountain West Championship Game in Las Vegas (4:30 pm, FOX) Boise State vs (24) San Jose State SEC Championship Game in Atlanta (8 pm, CBS) (1) Alabama vs (7) Florida American Championship Game (8 pm, ABC) (23) Tulsa at (9) Cincinnati Top 25 game ------------------------------ (5) Texas A&M at Tennessee (12 pm, ESPN) Other nationally available games --------------------------------------------------- Nebraska at Rutgers (7:30 pm Friday, BTN) Washington State at Utah (1:30 pm, FS1) Air Force at Army (3 pm, CBS) Ole Miss at LSU (3:30 pm, SEC Network) Missouri at Mississippi State (3:30 pm, SEC Network - Alternate) Minnesota at Wisconsin (4 pm, BTN) Illinois at Penn State (5:30 pm, FS1) Stanford at UCLA (7 pm, ESPN) Arizona State at Oregon State (10:30 pm, ESPN)
  3. I'm not familiar with SEC football but firing Gus strikes me as a horsefeathering stupid decision.
  4. I could tell there was a forward lateral early so it wouldn't count, but still pretty freaking crazy to see it all unfold after that. As if that wasn't enough, the ESPN+ feed cut to a "technical difficulties" screen as the refs were announcing the penalty call and never came back. 12 years ago, BSU went into the MAC title game unbeaten and ranked #12 and a Murphy's Law game in Buffalo's favor ensued. Time for some revenge.
  5. From a program prospective, it seems you would absolutely want the bowl game for a myriad of reasons: funding, recruiting exposure, rewards for the players, and the extra 14 practices or whatever it is you get. BC's head coach pointed out that the real 'rewards' of the bowl trips usually revolve around a nice trip somewhere with friends and/or family. Events are usually held in the days leading up to the game that the players can have some fun being part of. Since basically none of those things are in play this year, there's not as much draw. I completely understand the idea. I doubt any of us really know how tough this fall has been on CFB players.
  6. BC has announced it's opting out of playing in a bowl game. Wondered if we'd see some teams do that. (Not counting LSU's hilarious self-imposed bowl ban.)
  7. And speaking of IU
  8. Very unsurprisingly, the B1G has reportedly voted to rescind the 6-game requirement to play in the title game, clinching the East for Ohio State.
  9. Not that it can't happen, but students are now off campus most places and they certainly will be the 2 weeks leading up to the playoff. That should hopefully keep things quiet. Speaking just for ND, they've said the team is not leaving campus the rest of the year.
  10. I didn't even consider Joe Davis at first because he's already such a star, but he would be a massive win. He's an outstanding game caller. I still suspect he is a long shot.
  11. Ohio State is probably safely in as long as they don't lose and Alabama beats Florida (or ND beats Clemson). The debate starts if it's 10-1 ND or 6-0 Ohio State without a win the caliber of Clemson, especially if OSU wasn't a league champion. (Not to mention 8-1 Texas A&M, which would surely throw its hat in the ring.) The side arguing that conference championships and more data points don't matter would be dripping with irony at that point.
  12. Mustache man delivers the news Luckily for the B1G, the ACC has already broken the seal on 'eh, screw what we said before' decisions, so they can go ahead and ignore their previously-discussed 6-game minimum.
  13. Too bad, I think you could've taken them. I haven't been impressed. Somewhat on topic, my goodness has CBS been hosed this year. Feels like they're losing an SEC game every week and the ones they keep aren't any good. I'm sure many SEC fans view that as karma of sorts for refusing to pony up more cash after they expanded to 14 teams.
  14. I thought it was pretty obvious to everyone that the DH was coming in the next CBA anyway, so it just seems stupid to me to go back to no DH for one more season, especially when it doesn't look like it will be a 'regular' season.
  15. Top 25 games ------------------------------ (1) Alabama at Arkansas (12 pm, ESPN) LSU at (6) Florida (7 pm, ESPN) (9) Georgia at (25) Missouri (12 pm, SEC Network) (17) North Carolina at (10) Miami (3:30 pm, ABC) (13) Coastal Carolina at Troy (3 pm, ESPN+) Illinois at (14) Northwestern (12 pm, ESPN2) (15) USC at UCLA (7:30 pm, ABC) Wisconsin at (16) Iowa (3:30 pm, FS1) San Diego State at (18) BYU (10 pm, ESPN2) Utah at (21) Colorado (12 pm, FOX) (22) Oklahoma State at Baylor (3:30 pm, ESPN) Other nationally available games --------------------------------------------------- Florida Atlantic at Southern Miss (6:30 pm Thursday, CBSSN) Pittsburgh at Georgia Tech (7 pm Thursday, FSN/ESPN3) UTEP at North Texas (6 pm Friday, ESPN3) Arizona State at Arizona (7:30 pm Friday, ESPN) Nevada vs San Jose State - in Las Vegas (10 pm Friday, CBSSN) Michigan State at Penn State (12 pm, ABC) Minnesota at Nebraska (12 pm, FS1) Rutgers at Maryland (12 pm, BTN) Wake Forest at Louisville (12 pm, ACC Network) Northern Illinois at Eastern Michigan (12 pm, ESPN3) UAB at Rice (1 pm, ESPN3) Akron at Buffalo (2:30 pm, CBSSN) Navy at Army (3 pm, CBS) Central Michigan at Toledo (3 pm, ESPN3) Houston at Memphis (3:30 pm, ESPN2) Tennessee at Vanderbilt (4 pm, SEC Network) Duke at Florida State (4 pm, ACC Network) Boise State at Wyoming (6 pm, CBSSN) Appalachian State at Georgia Southern (6 pm, ESPN3) Louisiana Tech at TCU (7 pm, FS1) Auburn at Mississippi State (7:30 pm, SEC Network) Virginia at Virginia Tech (8 pm, ACC Network) Stanford at Oregon State (10 pm, ESPNU) Fresno State vs New Mexico - in Las Vegas (10:30 pm, FS2)
  16. I find myself desperately hoping ND avoids Alabama in the semifinals (IF THEY MAKE IT caveat of course) just because I know everyone is going to do the whole "they were frauds" thing if they get blown out even though Alabama blew out #5 already and is probably gonna blow out #6 in 2 weeks
  17. Alabama has activated death machine mode, so it's going to be very important to get in the 2/3 game.
  18. The only person who I know definitely wouldn't be a big step down is Boog Sciambi. I'm sure there are folks I don't know who would be good, too, but Sciambi is the guy Marquee should be after here IMO.
  19. I completely believe Len when he says the Cubs wanted him to stay and made that clear. The questions I have are what led him to the decision that he needed to leave to begin with. It can't all just be about loving radio. It just can't.
