I'm completely unused to national announcers hopping on my team's bandwagon - so I actually like Joe Buck. He's not a great announcer but he's slurping Steve Smith so I can't dislike him too much. :)
I really really REALLY want to win this game. Last time we went to the Super Bowl we lost to the best of the three Patriots teams, and I want another shot. LET'S GO PANTHERS :D
As Mark told it in "Cubs Nation" by Wojo (fantastic book, read it read it read it), the Cubs kept telling him that they'd get a deal done with him after they took care of their other offseason needs and then ultimately just didn't make him an offer, leaving him to fend for himself with very little time left in the offseason. He claimed that he would've understood if they'd kicked him out the door in favor of Choi as long as they'd been honest about it.
Speaking as someone who had to watch 14 of the Panthers' 16 regular season games on the Internet, I wholeheartedly agree with this statement. I'm probably going to end up picking Pittsburgh to win the Super Bowl no matter who wins later today. They look like a team of destiny.
I've been pissed off at Grace since he insulted Sammy's cork thing during his last season playing with Arizona. I know the Cubs screwed him over after the 2000 season but that really got under my skin. Knowing Grace, no one will really pay attention to that comment because he always was outspoken like that.
If the steelers scoer a TD here can we punch their ticket to the super bowl? Im going to go with Seattle. They havent been before and i want carolina to lose sooner than later so i can see if these rumors Trgovac going to Michigan are true or not. What rumors? UM's too stupid to fire Lloyd Carr so I wouldn't think that'll happen. That said, I am now officially worried that we'll lose Trgo. He's a dynamite coordinator. Why can't he be like Monte Kiffin and just reject all overtures?
I've dislocated an elbow...twice. Worst Pain Ever. I still to this day shudder every time i think about it. My best friend went over a year with a dislocated shoulder and he said it hurt every time he tried to throw a football. It actually led to me playing QB at our annual Thanksgiving Day football game.
I've always wondered about that. You wouldn't need to go on a "Beer Run" if you just stocked up on Saturday night. On that topic, isn't beer unsellable in most states on Sundays?
Considering Hendry and Walker supposedly had a "gentleman's agreement" that JH wouldn't ship him out without Walker's approval (and the little thing that, oh yeah, he's our THIRD BEST HITTER right now), the possibility of him getting shipped out to Baltimore - to be a backup - without netting the Cubs anything of any value should be enough to send Hendry directly to hell.
Nomar. The minute I saw the highlight on Sportscenter of him falling down, I knew the season was over. Honorable mention to all the games where some no-name rookie/crappy pitcher held the Cubs to 2 runs or less, which seemed to happen every week.
Hmmm, I'm not so sure this comment is appropriate. It's also a joke that's been made thousands if not millions of times. Come with some original material, dude.
Bring it on Huber! :) I'm worried about this one - I know I picked Carolina but with Peppers and Morgan not at full strength and having to rely on Goings it's going to be a stretch. However the Panthers have run stuffed Barber and Jones the last two weeks and as a whole have been solid against the run (discounting that awful Cowboys game). Their secondary has proven to be among the better by beating two young 'uns but I don't know how they'll do against a guy with more experience. Either way, it's been a great season - and I look forward to a great game.
Nice, nice trade for Cleveland. You get a very good prospect and a good reliever, plus will be able to acquire a replacement OF on the cheap. All this for a guy who, while good, is not even close to an impact player.
It's interesting - all the free time I have in college has made me a sports junkie. I've already watched more non-ND college basketball games this year than I ever have before in a season.
Bulls are smashing Indiana. I liked Larrivee's little comment that "when the Bulls get about as many FTs as the other team, they're pretty good". :) And it's true, we've probably lost 4 or 5 games this year simply because the other team shot 20-30 more FTs than we have.
