    I'll go a step further: It's been more than six months since the last time the Cubs lost a game in which the pitching matchup has not been G. Rusch vs. B. Arroyo. But with the wind blowing out it may get ugly again...

    Especially since he'll be starting for Rusch next game. Williams is joining the rotation in the 5th spot on April 15th. We're still stuck with Rusch, who's scheduled to go again on the 16th. What do you think the odds are that Guzman gets the call up to pitch for Rusch? Don't go and get my hopes up.

    He was hitting something like .230 after April last year and ended up hitting above .300. I'll power through this if he keeps his streak of red-hot summers going.

    You've followed his career closely but didn't know he wasn't a rookie last year? Look, Wright is going to be very good offensively. That does not automatically make him very good defensively. Tell that to Gold Glove voters.

    Nah, they'll keep hitting. But the pitching will go down the tubes. Luckily for the Reds, the Cubs won't hit for the next five games.

    Bingo. They miked up Dempster for this game and it was the day after the Eckstein play. They aired his mock commentary and also showed him jovially yakking with some Cards fans.

    I'll say right now, the Cubs may not win a series against Cincy or Pittsburgh this year. They just don't seem to like beating bad baseball teams.

    He's questionable. Reports make it sound like he's still suffering some symptoms and they don't mess around with concussions generally. My guess is he's out tonight. The mybulls e-mail I got had Allen in the lineup, so he is most likely out.
