Latest nbadraft.net mock has us taking Thomas at #1 and Ronnie Brewer at #12. Personally, I think if Noah declares, the Bulls take him with a hypothetical top pick.
  4. Biggest game of the year tonight in Philly. If the Bulls can keep AI from parading to the FT line too much and continue their aggressive play of the last couple of games, we will see the team in the 8th spot at the end of the night.
  5. Polanco gives me 4 :D Screw Joe D, I'm going for 162! Tomorrow: Melvin Mora against a terrible Mark Hendrickson of Tampa Bay
  6. The Cubs have yet to win a remaining game in the opening series after scoring 15+ runs on Opening Day. :x I get back from class and we're down 1, the difference being a BRONSON ARROYO home run??? We need new pitchers.
  7. Unfortunately I have no posts confirming this, but I knew that Prince wasn't going to jump in and become a star overnight. I think it will take at least most of this season before he truly starts his ascent.

If that's the case, Noah and Roy, plz. Even though I hate Noah right now. There's almost no way the Bulls have the opportunity to take two guys from that list. Noah is probably not declaring. Bulls will probably end up with Aldridge, which is OK, but by no means do I see him as a star or the difference-maker.
  9. It should be known that I thought for sure that someone would have the name GutlessChokingDog by now on this site.
  10. After Day 2, Mizzou leads with 9 homers. TrueBlueCubFan, Truffle, J-Shils, and myself all have 8.
  11. A 7th inning knock by Figgins moves my streak to 3. Next up: Placido Polanco against Joe Mays and the Royals tomorrow.
  12. Days like this I regret scheduling classes from 11-3 on MWF. Especially when I have Tuesdays and Thursdays set up perfectly for Cubs viewing and they naturally have those days off 4 times this month.
  13. Watch them go right back to the Series in 07 or 08 with this team as the nucleus.
  14. That's actually pretty good - the Chef. Might use that as a backup to Slap Nasty (and yes CubinMemphis, I'll give you credit for that :D ).
  15. <3 Ben Gordon <3 .5 behind Philly. We play them tomorrow. HUGE game. 1.5 behind Pacers - getting the 7th seed would be nice, Bulls.

Noah is legitimately the only college basketball player in the country that I am sure will excel on the next level, so naturally he is going to stay in school rather than go to the Bulls at No. 1 :x
  17. That wouldn't be good enough, he has to win 15 before we consider him any good.

    Bonds

I loved his face when he saw it, too. He looked like he was going to run in there and start cracking people in half with his PED muscles.
  19. It's just like the logging companies who plant 2 trees for every 1 they cut down. It seems as though the Cubs have been doing the opposite. Novoa, Moore and Flowers for Farnsworth. Blackford and Burrows for Hollandsworth. Two guys for Welly. Whomever for Remlinger. Does it matter? Yeah, I know about Mitre, Nolasco and Pinto for Pierre, but the Cubs have added to the system as they've gone. Some of the moves may turn out to be nothing for nothing, but Murton doesn't look to be a bad catch at this point. He may end up being the best guy that changed hands during that four-team deal. I'd say he already is. :D Barring catastrophic occurrences of course *knock on wood*
  20. No, I don't think rubbing steroid cream on himself resulted in 73 bombs. I believe that his use of human growth hormone, cow steroids, and all kinds of other PEDs obtained through his BALCO-linked trainer Greg Anderson resulted in it, and also in his being walked a billion times since.
  21. I like Slap Nasty with Slappy for short. Note: I used to call Murton "Leprechaun" but after a hilarious comment in yesterday's game thread, I nominate The Big Murt for him.
  22. All things considered...if that's what it looks like, I can't say I'm upset, or suprised. If that's all there is then I have absolutely no problem with it. Obviously in an ideal world there would be no advertising (apart from the mildly entertaining Miller Lite signs on the house behind RF and the traditional Budweiser building in left center), but the Trib has to fill their own pockets I suppose, and there are much more distasteful things they could do.
  23. The Hairston fiasco was due to a technical mistake. The defense was listed on-screen as Neifi at SS, Hairston at 2B, and moreover Prior pitching. Brenly obviously should have realized that Walker had already batted, but it wasn't his fault some moran on the technical side ran a Pepsi defense from late last year.
  24. I don't think that's the point. He's still better than Konerko so expect his contract to be in that neighborhood. The Cubs don't want him to become a FA and have other teams attempt to drive up the price. I'm sure some teams would be very willing to overpay so the Cubs will want to be generous without breaking the bank. The best time to do that is now. But Konerko won a world series so he's clutch or something. I wouldn't be shocked at all to see Lee get a lesser contract than Konerko. I haven't read the rest of the comments but I assume you're joking. Oh yeah, DLee has also won a WS (just not with the Cubs). Lee's contract will be the same or greater than Konerko's (my bet is it will be more). If it's more, I'm guessing it won't be as a Cub.
  25. You think that would beat this team on a consistent basis: C - Varitek 1B - Pujols 2B - Soriano 3B - ARod SS - Tejada LF - Manny CF - Andruw RF - Vlad Because that team is the HR leaders at their positions over the past couple years. I'm sure your team would win a few games. But if our two teams played a 162 game schedule against each other with equivalent pitching staffs, I'd bet my team wins more than 110 games. Don't forget to bat Soriano leadoff, because he's small and fast. In all seriousness, though, it's great to see the Cubs put some pressure on the opposing team while running the bases nowadays and I hope it continues.
