  1. I sat Maddux yesterday. No way he pitches great again with the wind blowing out, right? Oops.
  2. I'll go with 2 - but they'll both be costly.
  3. Speaking of Rusch, the Trib seemed to think Dusty is going to let him make his scheduled start on Sunday: That means Marshall, Williams and Rusch are our starters this weekend. Umm...let's get some runs!
  4. Lineups from MLB.com: Pierre CF Hairston 2B Lee 1B Murton LF Pagan RF Cedeno SS Neifi 3B Blanco C Z P Freel CF Lopez SS Dunn LF Aurilia 3B Hatteberg 1B Kearns RF Phillips 2B Ross C Milton P
  5. I think everyone who hits a home run the last couple of weeks is on your HR Derby list, XZero.
  6. Recommendation: Pierre Cedeno Lee Murton Hairston Blanco Pagan Neifi Ok, seriously, there's no good way to do this.
  7. In case anyone doesn't know yet, the Bulls/Wizards game tomorrow night is at 8 pm ET on ESPN.
  8. Look, I still have a lot of man-love left for Ricky Manning because he made an inhuman one-handed INT against STL in the 03 playoffs to set up the greatest football moment of my life (the Smith TD) and because he picked Philly 3 more times the following week. But the guy just can't cover receivers all that well. If you get Manning as a nickelback he'd be good, but if he's your 2nd corner you might be in trouble.
  9. Absolutely. The same thing happened last year and Ramirez ended up close to Lee's numbers in HR and RBI before he was shut down, so he'll be fine. Actually AR had a 1.033 OPS after the first week of last season. He started out a little slower than that in 2004, though. So there's no real trend for him. OK, but after the first month of last season, he was batting .241 with only 4 home runs (his lowest totals of the year in both categories). Only the fact that he drew an above-average (for him) 13 walks in April kept his OBP at a fairly solid .344.
  10. It of course has nothing to do with Prior and Wood battling injuries. nor did Blanco's CERA have anything to do with being Zambrano's personal catcher. I've heard alot of this "everyone prefers pitching to Blanco" stuff, but I don't think I have ever heard it from anyone from the Cubs organization. plus, even if the pitchers do prefer pitching to Blanco, that doesn't mean that they would prefer Blanco starting when they are pitching, as Blanco can't hit. That's what I was thinking. Who says "all our pitchers prefer pitching to Blanco"? I've never heard that in my life. Not even speculation to that effect. That myth started when Prior pitched to Bako at the end of 2004 and had a very good September, then started pitching to Blanco on a semiregular basis. Ever since, it's been "Cubs pitchers can't stand Barrett".
  11. Absolutely. The same thing happened last year and Ramirez ended up close to Lee's numbers in HR and RBI before he was shut down, so he'll be fine.
  12. Are you assuming Wood isn't healthy? While your rotation isn't bad, I'd prefer Zambrano, Prior, Wood, Maddux, Miller...especially if each is pitching near his 3-year average. In fact, if Wood, Prior and Miller return to pitch somewhere in that range, we will have one of if not the best rotation in the league. I have a really strong gut feeling that Wood is gonna come back and pitch like Kerry Wood for the rest of his season. I don't know what it is, but I just feel like he will. I agree and feel the same about Prior. I have no idea why because no rational human being should feel like that right now, but I do.

Great post man, I completely agree with everything.
  14. ?!?!?! I don't know why it says that, but I firmly remember that play because I was at a friend's and we went nuts when it happened. Barrett hit a fly ball that, to be honest, should have gotten Milton one step closer to his no hitter, except that Doug Glanville broke backwards on the ball initially before realizing it wasn't that deep. He then could not get to it on time. All other things being equal (the two K's after Barrett), Milton would've hurled a no-no that day - and it would've been the first against the Cubs since Koufax fired a perfecto against them way back in 1965.
  15. Haha, this could turn into fun. Just to note, I've noted my lack of athletic skill in the OMC girl troubles thread, so that is why I chose to manage. :)
  16. I could manage the NSBB all-stars.
  17. I've lost count now but I'm pretty sure my 4,000th post came in today's thread.
  18. With 11 and 7, Noc is closing in on his eighth straight double-double. I don't think it can be overstated how ridiculous that feat is for a guy his size.
  19. Maddux will go as a Brave unless he keeps pitching like this for 6 1/2 more months and single-handedly takes the Cubs to the Series title, and even that may not be enough. I'm not sure what Mad Dog would decide if it was up to him, but Boggs wanting to go in as a Devil Ray kind of ruined that.
  20. Told you it would work when I did it. :) Anyway, my wonderful schedule that gives me Tuesday and Thursday off after 12:15 pm lets me see this one. It's the only Cubs day game that my schedule specifically allows me to see all of, though.
  21. Red on the lineup above: "Call Skiles MacGyver, because this team is held together by duct tape."
  22. I hate you Rocket
  23. Andy

The lottery is on Tuesday May 23, and the Draft is on Tuesday, June 27.
  24. Bulls were the last team to beat the Nets before they ripped off 14 in a row as well, but they came out flat tonight in Atlanta. Understandable. Luckily Gordon didn't, he has 13 midway through the 2nd and it's a 4 point Hawks lead.
