  1. Not to throw this way off-topic or anything, but you're from Los Angeles and you're a North Carolina fan? Please tell me you lived in North Carolina sometime. I grew up in North Carolina - basically spent my whole life pre-college there, and been a lifelong fan. While I didn't wind up actually going there, it was my second choice, and my oldest friend, my sister, and many, many other friends have all attended (or are attending) the school. But I'm with you - I'm generally not a fan of people who just decide to be a Tar Heel or Duke fan cause they're good (especially Duke - gross). I can't stand the people who root for UNC or Duke when they've never lived anywhere near the state. One of my friends actually now roots for Duke specifically because he was annoyed that everyone around him was a UNC fan (in Indiana).
  2. I knew this kid would be good when I saw his numbers from last year, but this is just absurd. I'm interested to see how many he'll have by the end of May to see if he can make a run at 40-45.
  3. The subject of why he was on the tradeblock has been widely discussed in these forums for the last few months. The Cubs wanted to improve defensively up the middle and with Walker's production and his very attractive contract, Hendry thought he would be a valuable trading chip. Hendry wasn't going to let Walker go for nothing though, I am glad he held onto him, and I was wrong when I said I thought he would be traded before opening day. One of the rumors had him going to Baltimore for Matos who is hitting about .180. As the old cliche goes: "Sometimes the best trades are the ones you don't make." Exactly that, it was just a rumor. I don't think Hendry could have seriously even considered makiing that trade. And why would Baltimore even want Walker? Where would he have played? According to what I was reading, not only was Hendry considering the deal, it would've happened had Baltimore not insisted that Hendry pay the difference between Walker's and Matos's contracts (I believe just under 1 million). In short, Baltimore's complete stupidity in not realizing what they were getting saved the Cubs.
  4. In before the lock. (I've always wanted to do that)
  5. Or MLB.TV. I love it. I get to watch whatever games I want to. Well, except Giants and A's games because they are blacked out locally. And the Sunday night game of the week. But other than that I get to watch anything. Whereas Mississippians and North Carolinians miss the Cubs/Reds games because they're too close to Cincinnati. You got lucky. Their blackout restrictions are completely ludicrous.
  6. Definitely wasn't. He had a terrible July, but in August he carried the Cubs. .336/.388/.605. Overall batted .266 with a .771 OPS. Not tearing up the world, but perfectly acceptable at CF.
  7. I'll say it right now - if the Bulls get the 6 seed, they will go to the 2nd round, and there's a legitimate chance they could sneak by Miami into the Eastern Finals. You all think I'm crazy now, but we'll see in a month.
  8. Well, I might as well update again while we're waiting on Marco's uber-spreadsheet :) And make sure to double-check, because there's a decent chance I'll have screwed somebody's up. 46 XZero 45 Truffle 44 sherwood921 Roast 42 Serena Mizzou 41 Garwilly ndistops Outshined UMFan83 40 TrueBlueCubFan J-Shils TheDude wade 39 SeldomSeen Jazz 38 Jd6762 bukie 37 DCNashville Rocket Vance IMB Srbin84 soccer10k 36 Transmogrified Tiger KarenMac 35 Bob's Keeper reggiemiller rules MrWood SouthSideRyan 34 sethuel1 rawaction 33 Pistolcub42 Aramis Fan 32 Scott GF 31 Marco4 Derwood Cubbies75 30 Treeman NCCubbieFan Mark_R Mark Prior's Calves 29 tadowdaddy DJaxxFan CubsinNC Joe Cub 28 sandberg23 otis89 Dobson 27 HHHBK21 26 Southpaw19 25 Vinestal Flames24Rulz Cubfanfromoz 23 Guancous 20 Ublink 17 HawkCub **NOW UPDATED THROUGH EARLY GAMES OF 4/17**
  9. Vance' date=' smooth, and everybody who viewed this thread -- I am so sorry guys. I just got home a few minutes ago and saw what I had done. Sorry about the monstrous avi. I fixed it. Did not even realized what I had done. I don't post much, but I enjoy everyone's comments on NSBB. Def. the best Baseball forum on the net. You guys are awesome. Hopefully I won't be a repeat offender. Thanks for the PM ndistops. I appreciate it.[/quote'] No problemo!
  10. The Mad Dog will try to have his third straight strong start against Brett Tomko (who was born in the same little town in Ohio that I was, but sports a 6.55 ERA). Jacque Jones pinch-hit today, which leads me to believe he will probably return to right field tomorrow night. We'll see. Here's to me starting a bunch more game threads! :D
  11. Because it's not. People who pronounce it that way piss me off. Jim Spanarkel will have to be the bodyguard for Ian Eagle then to keep him safe from you.
  12. And Rolen goes yard to give the Cards the lead. Nice job Bronson, kill the Cubs and then make sure to lie down for STL. :x
  13. Pujols just homered to tie it in STL.
  14. KoJock walks. Who loves ya, baby?
  15. You sure bout this, Dusty?
  16. They also don't seem to like math based on their prior comment about deficits.
  17. It was important for Glendon to have a good start today. Good to see he has. Good to see Ramirez get his schwing back too. :)
  18. I'm not certain on this, but I believe today is the Bulls' first appearance on a major network since the 1998 Finals.
  19. Why was it atrocious? Because Nocioni didn't flop in the classic charge style? He wasn't completely set, true, but Jeffries was completely out of control and the refs will almost always call it a charge in that case. That call was no worse than any of the 5,000 no-calls for when Noc or Sweets has been clobbered under the basket with no whistle this year.
  20. Bucks lost too!!! Thanks crappy teams! :) Bulls now just 1/2 game out of 6th!!!!! (1 game out of 5th too but I want no part of Cleveland even if LeBron is hobbled)
  21. Me too. No offense to Len, but no one but Chip could've made that call as amazing. Is it just me or did that play seem a LOT longer when it first happened? I thought I remembered debating with my friend back and forth for at least a full minute on when Ricky should take off for the plate. I guess that was afterwards. That was pre-2003, too, and I still expected the best. Now I would be too busy being pissed about Ricky falling down to see the rest of the play clearly.
  22. Also the Mongo game where McMichael said he would "have a speaks" with Angel Hernandez for the home plate call that he obviously blew where Coomer got his foot in at home plate. But if he didn't blow it we would've never gotten the Gutierrez moment. I don't remember where I was, but I know I was watching this game with a friend. I was 14 so sports still meant way too much to me, and this game was probably the most fun and amazing non-playoff game I've ever seen. I've probably never laughed so hard as I did when Mongo threatened Angel.
  23. I've taken to calling him The Big Murt, with Murt for short.
