  1. I vote Stones, only because I'm desperate to get Aerosmith out of this tournament.
  2. The Dodgers have won titles in two cities since the Cubs have played for one. Sad days indeed.
  3. To be fair, we have no idea how good Wood and Prior might have been if Dusty hadn't destroyed them in 2003 :x This man speaks for many of us
  4. So Dusty has COMPLETELY forgotten about the two weeks he spent up here in May???? Not surprising considering he gave him FOUR at-bats in that time! Unbelievable.
  5. You are correct, sir! An amazing turn around for Mr. Jon. He actually had quite a bit of faith in this group before the season if I remember correctly. Just for the record: I hate being right when I look at the Cubs in ST and think they are going to suck. I was much more excited for this season than 2005...oh well.
  6. That was quick...let's see how the kid responds.
  7. I thought there's no way the Sox don't win the division... I'm not a full fledged believer yet but I'm running out of reasons to doubt Detroit.
  8. DJaxx is still MIA... A Sunday Night Baseball matinee here. But I don't think the Cubs are capable of winning a non-Z start anymore.
  9. I don't understand the logistics behind it either, but it sure looks like a solid move for Indiana as they'd pick up a guy better than the one they're replacing for less money.
  10. Wow. 1 thing. He still thinks walks clog the bases, still has a huge man-crush on Neifi and will very likely make some dumb excuse for playing veterens in September. He already has one from last year: Maintaining the integrity of the postseason races
  11. Finished behind Yadier Molina in the voting. Yadier is at .244/.292/.343/.635
  12. Pujols probably came from the same planet that Zambrano did.
  13. SSR beat me to it
  14. I'd imagine Seattle was the one that ended that discussion
  15. Williams may have gotten butt lucky in a lot of ways last year, but you have to hand it to him here. Hendry would've already signed his three-year extension after last year's completely flukish performance.
  16. He played him one on one the entire game. Even after he burned them for a TD on one of the first plays of the game. Then Holmgren did what everyone else should've been doing - triple-teaming him and basically daring Carolina to throw to a banged-up Colbert and a joke Drew Carter - and the Panthers couldn't get anything going. That's why.
  17. That's hilarious. Kobe best season comes at the age of 27, and still falls short of the seasons Jordan put up regularly from age 23 through 33, and now Kobe might be better than MJ? MJ never quit on his team, let alone in a game 7. SAS was seriously sucking up. SAS has been very outspoken about how he thinks Kobe ruined the Lakers by sending Shaq away, so to see him sucking up to him so hardcore pretty much erodes any hope of me having respect for the man.
  18. I would've been shocked at 2 XBH's and a walk for Theriot but I was already floored by the fact that he actually played, and batted SECOND too!
  19. No offense taken soccer10k, although I don't think the fact that Jones is playing well this year (and he is playing very well based on his career numbers) gives him any more license to yell back at hecklers than Neifi's play does. His strong effort this year does not change the fact that the team is terrible, and no one on this team, not even Lee, has the right to argue that point with any fan.
  20. It was a joke. If Thomas was maltreated in the hospital, and I have no way of knowing if he was, then he should be compensated.
  21. Yes, his OPS has helped the Cubs immensely this year. Especially over June and July when he carried the club. Without Walker the Cubs would have never made it to the playoffs in 2004 and 2005 and if they trade him they might finish with 105 losses instead of 100. You lost me here
  22. I'm really getting sick and tired of this team being unable to take the abuse for sucking. Get mad all you want about stuff being thrown onto the field, because that is completely uncalled for. But if a fan is telling you you're bad, and you're 20 games under, you really don't have much of a choice but to shut up and take it. Because let's face it. If you're 20 under, you DO suck.
  23. In place of anybody. Zambrano should be rested a bit here and there. Marshall and Marmol are going to go way past normal thresholds if they continue on this pace. Maddux serves no purpose to this organization other than a reminder that the Cubs are one of the worst teams in pro sports in getting the most out of players during their prime years, but all too happy to pay big money for past performance in declining players. Either trade him, or skip him a bit. And Prior could miss any number of starts without surprising people. =D> Agreed, one of the best sentences ever posted on here.
  24. Funny to think of Hendry signing someone incapable of catching the ball He only signs people who can catch the ball when it's not an important part of the package.
