  1. Prior, Hill and Marmol for the three games I'll be at next week then (assuming Marmol is ok). Not exactly what I was hoping for...
  2. Reynolds was slightly better than crap, but the thing I agree most with in this thread is about Ravech. I have on multiple occasions watched BBTN and seen him visibly impatient with the absurdity of what his co-hosts are saying. Somehow he never lashes out at them. BBTN is now the most pathetic show of its kind on television. No one is remotely redeemable. Good luck, HR.
  3. Absurd. Dusty routinely either makes snap judgments (Wuertz, Hill, etc.) or doesn't play a guy enough to make a judgment at all (Theriot, Guzman, etc.)
  4. If Gehrig had not been cut down by ALS, the top spot would not be debatable IMO
  5. Detroit and the Sox both lose tonight. Sox now 7.5 behind Detroit and only 1/2 ahead of the Yanks (1 ahead of Minnesota) for the wild card. Gotta believe Kenny is frantically making calls.
  6. I say toss Rich out there for the rest of the season. If he flames out, he'll have almost no trade value, which is probably about what he has now anyway. If he shows flashes of being decent, get something good for him because I don't see him as a long-term solution.
  7. Oh good, not only has Santo struggled, but he has a questionable work ethic. Oh well. Of all the people on the team to trade for nothing, Williamson is just above Neifi, Rusch, etc. on the list.
  8. Good deal for KC player-wise, Odalis never really recovered from the "DID YOU SEE ME DO SOMETHING FOR CHARITY?" fiasco.
  9. Regardless of who is to blame, let's hope Derrek sits out the rest of the year and gets ready for 2007. And if there's anything permanently wrong with him...when we have 4 yrs and some 45 million left to pay...with an NTC... ...I mean... :(
  10. Crap for crap. Nothing to see here...move along...
  11. I have little to add, but someone said earlier that KW doesn't like trading major league level players. I then find it interesting that he shipped Carlos Lee - a pretty solid outfielder with two years left before hitting FA - for Scott Podsednik, who had been up to then decidedly mediocre - heck, he had a sub 320 OBP in 2004, which is just plain bad - and isn't even a very good fielder. I would also mention trading away a decent CF in Aaron Rowand for Thome, but even an idiot could see he was making out like a bandit in that deal. Re: Walker's 2005 - he was doing very well when Carlos Lee went spikes up into him in April that season, and did very well after he came back. Maybe it was just an aberration, but somehow it seems to me that Walker was having a solid 2005 no matter how many AB's he got.
  12. That's Z's lowest-pitch outing of the season at 101 pitches  previous low was 103, done twice. Bob Howry might be the new closer. He's been shaky at times but seems particularly adept at saving Dempster's rear. ALL HAIL Z! 11-3, 3.27 ERA.
  13. Time for a http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/vance_the_cubs_fan/cubsweep.jpg I'll be at Silver Beach in Michigan tomorrow, so I won't be seeing this game. Probably so much the better.
  14. Thread in Transactions
  15. Balls out move by Kenny, but if you have a chance to win a title, you do whatever it takes. Smart.
  16. I think DLee was as much responsible for coming back quickly as the coaching staff if not more
  17. Actually, it should say: Grinder Ball is stupid and we like winning games by hitting home runs and pitching well
  18. The Beatles. AC/DC is fine but not Sweet 16 material.
  19. While I agree with your thought process, I find it hard to lump Maddux (a hall of fame 300+ winning pitcher) in with the rest of those scrubs. Because Maddux has been pretty awful since the end of April, that's why.
  20. The Cubs are destiny's doormat, it's just that they also happen to be incompetently run. Nothing like a stupid franchise with bad luck.
  21. CBB, have you stopped to think that perhaps KW, Ozzie, etc. are seemingly always dissing the Cubs because they're always being ASKED about the Cubs? I mean, I love this team and apart from saying they suck I would never speak ill of them, but if I was rooting for a team and everyone involved on that team was constantly asked questions about another team - in the same city no less - I'd probably grow antagonistic as well. No one is suggesting you root for the White Sox - many of us dislike the Sox, some pretty obviously so. We are merely requesting that you not bring it up constantly. We understand you have a fervent dislike of the Sox, and that is not the issue. The manner in which you bring it up is what is putting people off. That's all.
  22. he probably would actually Not if pitchers don't throw you hittable pitches. If they don't throw him hittable pitches, he should take walks until the pitchers realize that's a bad idea too and start pitching to him again.
  23. Harris's AVG in 2003 was .193, and his OPS was .506. I think I would've taken my chances.
  24. I thought that at least the Sox didn't buy into the media-created OzzieBall myth to explain their success, but it looks like even they are fully on board.
  25. 2nd time out of 3 series we've been swept by Washington The highlight of the day was Hawk Harrelson saying that it was "BS" that Jon Garland got warned by the umpire for pulling an Estes and missing to the wrong side of the butt when he attempted to retaliate Padilla hitting Cintron in the Sox game. Amazing. "We didn't even hit anyone and we got warned!" said Hawk.
