    There is no possible way there is merit to this rumor. Any team in the majors can outdo that supposed offer.

    Haha, that's really quite pathetic. And considering all the talk radio hosts over the last 10 months falsely calling the Fiesta Bowl of last year a "beatdown" even though the game was in doubt until the very end, you'd think this guy would at least call in to one of THOSE shows, rather than worry about a game that was pretty much over in the 2nd quarter.

    Johan Santana is easily the best pitcher this century.

    I think that the Braves are actually giving up quite a bit. Would you even start to consider moving Z for that package? Peavy was one of the top preseason picks for NL Cy Young. I wouldn't even dream of giving up Z for those three guys.

    Hopefully. Eyre's probably gone, which is fine by me as Cotts can probably do close to as good a job for much cheaper. And if we get Westbrook, that gives the Cubs a solid No. 3.

    Name one player who had a better offensive career in chicago than sammy. 156 was Banks's best OPS+ total, in 1958. He OPS'd .980 that year and hit 47 dingers. Sammy's OPS+ from 1998-2002 read: 160 141 169 201 (!) 160 The numbers point in Roast's favor here.

    Just looking ahead to their huge matchup with Ball State 9 days from today. :D In all seriousness, BSU's probably got a better shot at Kansas than the other good team we play this month (Georgetown), just because the Jayhawks don't have Roy Hibbert at center. In fact their big men are definitely not their strong point, looking at their roster.

    Hes made great improvements defensively? Hes a green light for all baserunners. He also had a nearly .900 OPS last year. Fair trade. But I'm with Raisin - signing him when he hits FA next year is probably not the best investment knowing catchers.

    I really wanted to get back on your bandwagon after Aramis and Kerry, Jim, but this is just stupid economics. Geovany Soto could put up BETTER numbers for a little more than 1/10 the cost. This is gonna cost us a big time FA.
