  1. It should be pretty awesome to see this thread take a "tiger woods car crash" type turn. That said, the Indians should be pretty awful as well. A friendly little wager?
  2. kinda nsfw, but hehe regardless:
  3. Awesome, now I can finally drink gatorade again. :good:
  4. The Knicks aren't so good. The Cavs beat them by 34 tonight, even though New York outscored the Cavs by 11 in the 4th. That game was real, real ugly.
  5. He has a perfectly average team to work with complete with a true superstar. We've seen the Bulls have too many halves or quarters where everything breaks down even to the fundamentals. You can't dump that all on the players. We've seen too much glaringly stupid playcalling and streategies (or lack thereof) to give VDN a break and blame it all on the team. Rose is an absolute stud. And, he'll probably continue to get better and better. But, I'm not sure Derrick is the type of player that you can just automatically assume should make a team a contender.
  6. I think it's pretty safe to say if the Bulls won a championship this season VDN would still have his job. I obviously don't get to see the Bulls very much, but is VDN really all that bad? I mean, is he at least improving? When Mike Brown first came to Cleveland, he was pretty much the worst offensive coach in the history of basketball. Defense is his thing, and he's good at coaching that, but he knew next to nothing about running an offense. He has slowly gotten better and better, and I'd say he's probably getting pretty close to becoming an average coach on the offensive side. Or, is VDN just that bad? He hasn't exactly had a stellar team to work with.
  7. I've actually seen every movie on that list with the exception of The Hours. I didn't care much for The Aviator or Babel. I enjoyed the rest of them. Ended up going with Slumdog.
  8. Hah. Man. Reading the first page of this thread is like some kind of awesome reverse-judgment time warp. You can replay the downfall of Tiger in just a few posts.
  9. What's the news with Yao, anyway?
  10. you have absolutely no idea if that's true or not I didn't mean to stat as fact, but call it reasonable deduction. Cleveland in the ECF/NBA Finals > playing at MSG. a) lebron+another good free agent pick up in new york would probably mean they are suddenly in the ecf b) living in NY >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> living in cleveland Obviously living in New York is much, much better than Cleveland. And, LeBron doesn't exactly shy away from the glitz and glamor of the NBA life as much as say, a Joe Johnson would seem to. But, at the same time, I think he's pretty comfortable in Cleveland. He is literally a king in Akron. I think it's a pretty clear two horse race for LeBron between New York and Cleveland, with Miami maybe having a glimmer of hope. Obviously, no one really knows. There have been a million small snippets that could be interpreted in a thousand different ways. My gut tells me that LeBron stays in Cleveland. But, obviously I have a pretty clear bias.
  11. The easy thing is to go to a game, it's incredible. But if you can watch poker for longer than hockey, then maybe you are beyond help. Yeah, I've been to one hockey game live. It was Miami of Ohio. Evidently they have (or had?) a pretty fantastic team. I was right against the glass and was pretty drunk by the time we got there. The atmosphere was amazing. Can't say I cared much for the game, though, aside from a few guys getting smashed into the glass in front of me.
  12. Yeah, that was an extremely frustrating game to watch, other than LeBron going crazy. I know Shaq has been a terrible FT shooter his entire career, but he wasn't even kind of close once.
  13. Any suggestions to help me get into Hockey? I can watch any sports (or even slightly sports related) event that there is. Baseball, basketball, football, tennis, golf, poker, soccer, etc. But, every time I sit down to watch hockey, I change it after 5 minutes. :[
  14. With Kerr and Ferry being friends, it makes me wonder how seriously the Cavs were really going after Amar'e. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure they would have loved Amar'e as well, but Jamison appears to have been their first pick the entire time. Entering not so private talks with the Suns about Amar'e helped the Suns gain some leverage over Miami and the Cavaliers do the same with Washington. Regardless, great trade. Worked out pretty fantastic.
  15. Love the trade. Obviously the situation with Amar'e had more potential, but I think this one will work out better in the end. We only give up big Z and a 1st rounder. If it all plays out right, we get big Z back. We keep Hickson. Great deal for the Cavs. I haven't really kept up to date with Sebastian over the past few years. Is he officially a dead project?
  16. Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous to assume getting Amare would be a lock to win a championship, but we needed a power forward with some offensive ability pretty badly. It would definitely improve the team. I think you're a few years behind the times. LeBron used to be a guy that needed someone to hit the big shots, but not anymore. I understand that you probably don't get to see many Cavs games, but LeBron has been clutch in big moments for a few years now. I don't think you can really count the ECF from last year because, to be honest, a few of those games weren't even all that close. Howard (and, subsequently, the 3-point shooters) absolutely owned the Cavs. Did you watch LeBron vs. the Magic recently? He closed that game out entirely by himself. Even the baskets he didn't personally make were created by his drive-and-dish game. i'm just guaranteeing that the cavs don't win the title. Joe Namath would be proud.
  17. Oh yeah, forgot about Josh Smith. I'm not a huge Nate fan. As was already mentioned, I think it takes a lot away from the dunk when it takes more than two times to do it. I think those 3 and a rookie (I really like the dunk-in thing) would be nice. Agreed on Nate. IMO, Robinson might be the worst dunk contest winner in the history of the even. Heck, even Brent Barry is a more credible dunk contest winner than Nate. UHH no Don't you badmouth Bones. The answer to the dunk contest is James White. He needs to be forced to be on a team every year at the all star break. Like if you have the worst record in the league you have to sign him for this event. Haha, the NBA doesn't want him in there. He can do dunks that blow away the best NBA dunkers of all time.

  19. Yeah, in absolutely no way, shape, or form do Cleveland fans view the Ravens as the "old browns." Obviously, that's exactly what they are, but that just isn't the way they are viewed. I'm not sure if anyone else views them that way either.
  20. This. Please just make Nate Robinson go away. The fact he now has won THREE different dunk contests just shows how much it is a joke. OMG HE IS SHORT AND HE CAN DUNK. And he always needs multiple tries to make his dunks, if could nail most of them on the first try I might cut him some slack. Granted most of these scrubs fail in that department too. At least Dwight Howard made the thing somewhat exciting again for a couple years. Now it is back to scrubs again. I actually thought Robinson had the best dunks of the night. The NBA just has to recruit better dunkers. Why won't the stars take part in it? What stars? Yeah, LeBron. And, maybe you could get Howard back in it, but at least he has already done it. What other stars are fantastic dunkers? I find it hilarious when people say they want Vince and Kobe in it. Those guys used to be fantastic dunkers, and are still good players, but they are pretty old.

  22. If the Celtics wouldn't trade Allen for them, why would they trade Allen for the Bulls's assorted collection of garbage? Because our assorted collection of garbage cost way less. Amare to Cleveland is being rumored to being close to done. Amare/Shaq didn't work in PHX, so I doubt it will work in Cleveland, so it happen. Shaq/Hickson, Shaq/Varejao, Z/Hickson, Z/Varejao has worked all year long. So, I think Mike Brown (and more importantly, LeBron James) will find a way to make it work.
  23. Man. I would much rather have Jamison. But, I wouldn't complain I suppose. Especially if we got big Z back. It honestly wouldn't be the same if we won a championship without Z.
  24. While I agree with the sentiment that LeBron is better than Kobe, I disagree about the Finals. The Cavs had the best record in basketball last year and lost two games at home all year (and one of those was the last game of the year when LeBron either didn't play at all or very little) and they didn't even make the Finals. They're on pace for one less win and their point differential is 1.5 points worse than last year. LeBron is shooting a bit better than last year but overall, his numbers are very similar. I'm not saying the Cavs won't win the Finals, just that I don't see a reason why they're a lock to roll to a championship. You didn't make it but I also hate the whole argument that the Cavs swept the Lakers so it gives them a huge advantage if the two teams face each other in the Finals. Orlando won both games from LA during the regular season last year but we all know how the Finals turned out. While I agree that there are probably 2-3 (although, Boston really doesn't scare me unless they make a trade) teams that could take the Cavs out, I don't think last year's team matters much. Last year, teams like the Lakers and Magic caused huge matchup problems for us (and the rest of the league). With the addition of Shaq as a big body and the added length of guys like Parker and Moon, this is a much different team defensively. And, yeah. LeBron is playing out of his mind.
  25. Haha, yeah. Typical of this board to overreact to one line of text. Dwight seems like a pretty good guy.
