  1. So yeah, I'll be there with my Mom. I'll have on a 1907 replica jersey, the ones that were popular and hip in the late 1990's, and a beat up blue baseball hat with a Red C that I've had since high school. Mom will probably have on a similar Cubs hat or maybe a newer one with a Lieber autograph from 2001 and a Cubs jacket that was popular with pre-teens in the late 1980's. Silkish, with NL Logos on the side and a Wrigley scoreboard on the back. She got it for me for my 12th birthday...
  2. Game 3 59 RS K/8 and 9 Game 4 10TD P/ 22 and 23 Uhm, Hi CR!!!
  3. What time were you listening? I was on 570 at about noon and they were picking on the fans. Right before someone, I think Petros, said that Cubs fans should be going crazy with our entire season resting on Z's shoulders.
  4. Out here in LA, the sports media is mocking the Cubs' fans for being so quiet last night. I think after the Phillies and Sox crowds rocking from the first pitch on they expected more from the Cubs' crowd. In 2003 I was in Atlanta when Cubs fans shamed Braves fans into making some noise after Game 1 sounded like it was at Wrigley. I think most casual MLB fans expect that sort of noise at every Cubs playoff game. Another thought, could the higher cost of tickets have something to do with the crowd that shows up at games? I used to live about a half mile from the Meadowlands and I have to say that while Giants fans that I saw in bars were really into the games, the lawyers and old money families that had season tickets were amongst the quietest fans I ever saw at an NFL game. Same kind of effect last night?
  5. Wow, it's probably been like two years since I posted here...I still lived in NJ. Tonight will be a Dawson jersey since I'll be alone on the sofa. I'm saving my 1907 replica jersey for Games 3 and 4 when my Mom and I will be heading to Chavez Ravine for the game.
  6. If Demp gets move to the rotation, there's no room for Wade Miller, so that idea is out. What? Its not 2006 anymore? Oh...well, its still a bad idea.
  7. I had the Sox broadcast on my XM this weekend, first time I've heard the Sox' game this year. I heard something much more terrifying than Harrelson and DJ...it was Andre Dawson doing hair-coloring commercials. And did I really hear him singing the praises of hair coloring to the tune of Take Me Out to the Ballgame with Carlton Fisk? I'm hoping htat was a delusion sent to me by God as punnishment for being late to church.
  8. Kyler Burke is now being reported on a lot of new sites. Just punch his name into news.google.com. I guess this will be a wait and see trade, Burke is young enough and raw enough that he could be a great player for another team after the Cubs wreck his trade value and release him.
  9. pitched the past 4 days Right. a "duh" for me. Thanks.
  10. Sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere, but why no Dempster?
  11. I sort of already think its the Hall of Very Good. Biggio was an average player for a large chunk of his career. When he played CF he was one of the worst defensive center fielders in the game...and he played it for a couple of seasons. Someone said he was one of the top 50 players of all time...I could probably name 50 players who's career I would rather have from people that are playing right now.
  12. I dunno...Biggio was an average player for about half of his career, and well below average during his "adventures in centerfield" portion of his career. I'm sure he'll get in, and I would vote for him on the first ballot, but most sportswriters, and especially HOF voters, are idiots who won't vote for him the first time but will eventually. I mean, Mariotti didn't even vote for Ryno on the first ballot, you think he'll vote for Biggio?
  13. Awesome. We boo our own players routinely. Just imagine the reception Bonds will get. If he's on the record, everyone should bring balls to throw back. And everyone should.
  14. Awww man...I watched a minute of that and got sad....Sammy jumping around like a kid until Barret starts hugging him, JoBo, Santo not looking like he's in absolute agony...hard to look at that and think of how badly its gone since then.
  15. I agree with Exile. I was one of the people that was all over ARAM for his effort or 'hustling at the wrong time' (way to make a situation worse Dusty); but I have no complaints this year. He's been running out more plays, his defense has improved, and of coure none of that has hurt him at the plate. For me, its more fun to root for players that you think are giving it there all, and this season I have no complaints with Aramis.
  16. Ya know, when I read that AROD liked masculine she-males, I just assumed they meant Jeter.
  17. Thats awesome. So here's the logic: If we tried to trade Z and resign him, it wouldn't work. After playing for a real organization, there's no way he'd come back to the Cubs. I just love rooting for this team.
  18. Hopefully it will be un-stickied soon.
  19. Can you state with 100% certainty that Sammy isn't slipping the Rangers $8 million under the table?
  20. 50 points isn't that big an edge in OPS...
  21. Its like somehow the Cubs became the Minor Leagues for the Marlins' pitching staff. If Ricky Nolasco starts making rehab starts at Wrigley.....
  22. My Mom was visiting me the other week and went to see Texas play the Yankees at The Dump That Ruth Built, and said it was sort of bittersweet. Sammy had a couple of hits and an rbi that day as Texas beat the Yankees for the first time since 1984 or something like that, but says its sad to watch Sammy as he'ls playing great and nobody really cares outside of about half of the ex-Cubs' fans that are out there. I think its a testament to the way the Cubs' are run that my favortie memory of this season might be Baseball Tonight's "live" coverage of Sammy's first HR off the White Sox.
  23. Why would you want to kill the rally like that?
  24. The Reds' radio announcers have pretty much stopped calling the game and are just chatting at this point. Good times...
  25. I remember Sosa getting out like that in '01 I think as the tying run in the 9th. hmmm.... figures. I remember Trachsel once picked off....Mark Grace...(the player that played first for that play probably more times than anyone in history) with it.
