  1. Comcast and ESPN's box score have the goal going to Leddy, though it might have hit Kopecky first. I honestly couldn't tell who it hit. Hossa!
  2. Nice to see Leddy score. They may not win, but at least they recovered from the opening three minutes to tie it up.
  3. Terrible clearance, yeesh.
  4. Firing Hendry may not be a panacea, but it least would have been symbolic. He's a huge problem and replacing him with a more progressive general manager would have at least been a sign that Ricketts is serious about overhauling management and moving in a different, better direction. He didn't, which, in itself, is a symbol. A bad symbol. I'm thinking Swastika.* *Yeah, yeah, I violated Godwin's Law.
  5. Terrible by Leddy. He's young though.
  6. I have Directv. I watched a football game on Versus a few weeks ago, but just switched to Versus and it says I haven't purchased it. Is it possible I have Versus except for when hockey is on? And, if so, what the heck?
  7. LOOOOOOOONG. And with the recruiting inroads he's making in Indiana, it shouldn't be an issue for quite some time.
  8. Those Wings-Avs battles were epic. Can't wait for tonight, though I'm nearly certain to fall asleep before the conclusion.
  9. That's true -- at least in a vacuum. None of the three players would be considered immediate impact types, by any definition of the word. However, Oladipo and Sheehey will, ostensibly, be replacing minutes filled by the likes of Brett Finkelmeier. On a vintage Indiana team, or on a team like Illinois, their impact would likely be minimal. But having an actual scholarship division-one athlete should be a marked improvement for Indiana at this point in time.
  10. Not really. I think IU is a clear eighth-best at this point, which is promising progress. Any higher than that would be really, really difficult.
  11. Best ownership news since the day Bill Wirtz died: http://espn.go.com/sports/soccer/news/_/id/5654048/liverpool-agrees-sale-boston-red-sox-owners-pending-resolution-board-dispute
  12. I've been thinking Rays since early in the season -- honestly don't remember who I picked preseason -- though the Oswalt trade changes the calculus. I'll stick with the Rays though. Yankees 3, Twins 1 Rays 3, Rangers 1 Phillies 3, Reds 0 Giants, 3, Braves 2 Rays 4, Yankees 2 Phillies 4, Giants 2 Rays 4, Phillies 3
  13. I've had a similar problem DVRing them. My theory is that some of the games are also being aired on FSC and FSC+. Those channels are then blacked out in the 480s if you don't have FSC, as I do not. On a somewhat related note, Comcast Sportsnet aired the Chelsea champions league match live yesterday. Ah. . .that theory is possible and would make some sense. I don't have FSC or FSC+ either. Far better theory than anything I could come up with (I was wondering if for some reason 480-485 were DVRable but nothing higher -- which would be illogical, but still). Really? That's totally random. Suppose I'll have to check Comcast in the future for soccer (at least Champions League). I got an message from Directv saying there will be a free trial of FSC+ starting on Oct.2nd. Great! Thanks. I would not have even checked. Wonder how long the trial lasts? Might have preferred the FSC game of Aston-Tottenham, but nice opportunity to watch Dempsey. (And switch back-and-forth with the Man U-Sunderland game on ESPN2). And he scores!!!

  15. Directv/soccer question. The 10 or so dedicated UEFA channels (480-489) Directv has are outstanding, but for some reason I cannot always DVR them. Last night I DVRed the AC Milan-Ajax and the Real Madrid-Auxerre games. However, when I went to watch them last night, only the Real game was available. For some reason, it said I did not have access to the channel the Milan game was on. This has happened once before, too. Anyone know what the issue is or had this happen? I thought all the channels were complimentary, so I should be able to DVR all of them, right?
  16. Nice gesture putting Dave Tallon, too. (Reminds me of the Colts giving Edge a Super Bowl ring.)
  17. The Broncos left seven to eight guys in to block on basically every down, hence the lack of a pass rush (the Colts still rarely blitz, though they did successfully on the second fourth down play). I can't for the life of me understand how (i) the secondary failed so thoroughly to contain so few receiving threats and (ii) how adjustments weren't made to counter this. The Broncos are likely to pass the ball better this year than most suspect, but I'm not sure how much predictive value the Colts game has.
  18. \:D/ for the Evansville product.
  19. Yup. The (contemporary) Colts are the (contemporary) Braves of the NFL at this point. Outstanding regular season success, but only one championship to show for it. Hopefully that will change. Really important game this weekend, in my opinion. Falling to 0-2 would be difficult. I'll be at the game, as well.
  20. Considering that's sixty percent of the possible such games -- only could be five -- and Nebraska plays Washington, three games seems pretty relevant.
  21. Suck it, Mascher.
  22. What an ending to the Everton-Man U game. Glad I got up early to watch.
  23. Is it wrong to think Crawford is better? Of course not. I'd take Crawford over Fukudome too. But the Cubs, as currently constructed, are a 60-80 team. Why would they trade one of their best players -- likely for pennies on the dollar -- and then likely overpay for a relatively marginal upgrade? If you want Crawford, trade Byrd. In my imaginary scenario, we wouldn't trade Fukudome for "pennies on the dollar", especially since baseball people know he's got value. And I like Byrd and the rest of his contract. In fact, I would rank em: 1. CF Byrd + RF Crawford (for 2 years, at least) 2. CF Crawford + RF Fukudome (for 1 year) But that's just me. :-s Well, you have a higher opinion of baseball people than I do. I would be very surprised if the Cubs got much of a return in a Fukudome trade (with the caveat of eating all his salary).
