  1. I thought China was expected to be next in line? 2026. Due to rules, if Qatar gets 2022, China can't get 2026. Oh, didn't realize they were in the same group. How often do those get rearranged? I couldn't tell you the last time that happen. But not often. Well, Australia just recently switched from Oceania to Asia. So you could always see something contrived like that with Qatar, so China could still get the 2026 World Cup. Or FIFA could just ignore their rules. I mean, who cares right?
  2. Let us also not forget they're an authoritarian monarchy that practices Islamic law (mostly). On a scale of one to seven (one being the best), they're a six for political rights and five for civil liberties by Freedom in the World. Democracy Index describes them as an authoritarian regime, just slightly ahead of the likes of Iran. (IRAN!). They also have easily, easily, the worst soccer team of any of the prospective hosts. Brilliant idea.
  3. It's a miniscule country with 120 degree summers (or whatever) and no current facilities. Great idea! No wonder people have no faith in international organizations.
  4. It's going to be Qatar. And it's going to be a joke.
  5. Well, I wasn't watching until the last few seconds and overtime (IU was on, you know?). So I'm ignorant as to how it occurred, but fully expected them to win the game as I followed the score.
  6. Very encouraging second half for Indiana. After the abysmal first half, the past two years IU would have lost by 25-30. They made a big run but couldn't get over the hump. Much improved team this year. I do wonder why if you make a run with Jones on the bench (and Pritchard for the most part), you sub him/them back into the game late . . . Oh well. Never once doubted Purdue would win that game. Too tough and experienced (at least in key spots) to not come back after a loss and win that one.
  7. No Wolf, but because FIFA is highly politicized and loves to be "progressive" and "cutting edge." They're just dying to give the bid to new venues and it's totally going to be Russia and freakin' Qatar. It's going to be stupid and absurd, but alas.
  8. Wish this game was on here. Obviously starting to play much better though.
  9. The Holiday strikes me as the marquee bowl of those three. The quality of competition is high (Pac 10 No. 3), it's typically the featured event of the evening, and the games tend to be competitive and high scoring. It's the only one of the three I try to watch regardless of who's playing.
  10. I feel your pain. I will be watching two teams that A&M beat play for the conference championship when we had the same conference record as those two teams. ATM fans are starting to sound like Texas fans in 2008, but with a much less stable leg to stand on. I don't think they really have much less leg to stand on than Texas in 2008. This was a pet peeve of mine, but head-to-head between two teams is irrelevant in a three-way tie.
  11. In all seriousness, I like Jacques quite a bit (not as a tight end, though). He's a big, road grating lineman who should do well anchoring an interior line spot. He was still a little raw coming out of UT, but I hope the Colts give him a shot at some point to earn playing time on the line. So do I. He's potentially something the Colts really haven't had since I can remember (a road-grater). I honestly don't see how he could do worse than the current guards (especially Linkenbach) and has potential to be something far better. Seriously, Linkenbach was literally lifted off his feet and thrown into Manning last night. That's just not acceptable.
  12. Jacques is too busy being a tight end. Ha, yeah. Since he's been moved to tight end -- at least based on his exemplary work in the preseason -- it is conceivable that the best two offensive linemen on the Colts are currently tight ends.
  13. They have (or at least very close to that). The problem is that the offensive line has never been this bad. Manning only has around 2 seconds to throw if that. The injuries have exacerbated that problem because Addai is a fantastic blocker, Clark was a better blocker than Tamme, and Collie stretches the field. They aren't even running the same plays anymore because they don't have the talent to run their normal plays. Last year the Colts were a very, very good team that won every single close game they played. This year they're not quite as good and they've struggled in close games. The difference between the Super Bowl team and this one is really not that large though. Don't forget Brody Eldridge being hurt. He's the best offensive lineman on the team. Unfortunately, he's a tight end. Seriously, the Linkenbach-at-guard experiment has to end; I'm confused as to why it even started (Pollak is a disappointment and is by no means great, but he was improving and adequate). It's probably time to at least try McClendon and maybe even Thomas.
  14. Wait. You have IU winning? On the road? Is this some kind of attempted jinx?
  15. Scott actually fought. And what a fight it was. Totally left the other guy bloody.
  16. It's been a great couple weeks as a Hoosier fan. Big win today. I don't see it as respite for Lynch though.
  17. First game against real competition and first game on the road? I'm not expecting much. However, BC isn't great and a win is plausible.
  18. Yogi to IU (officially).
  19. Qatar hosting the World Cup would be completely asinine. Surely there is no way FIFA is that stupid. I've always pretty much considered it a fait accompli that the US would get the 2022 World Cup, but, I must admit, am getting nervous it won't work out that way.
  20. Great early Saturday game for at least the third week in a row. Arsenal have been awful at home as of late.
  21. Belgium has some really nice young attacking players. Could be an international sleeper in the years to come.
  22. Last game and that period were a big step in the right direction, in my opinion.
  23. Honestly, you've pretty much owned this thread recently. Definitely bringing your "A game."
  24. haha...even as an IU fan I would have probably enjoyed seeing some people go off the deep end. It would have been ridiculous. People calling for Crean's head, etc, etc.
  25. Yeah, me too. I was tempted to be cocky and post "Good news in 3, 2, 1 . . ." but didn't want to jinx it.
