  1. I don't see a coach of Dixon's caliber coming to USC knowing what's hanging over the program in ways of possible sanctions and other NCAA scrutiny.
  2. I have never seen Kobe look that bad at the line. Even his makes weren't clean.
  3. This is like an All-Star game.
  4. Kobe's in beast mode.
  5. Whoa, awesome. Saw the In play, no outs update on Gameday. Was not expecting a triple from Tedford.
  6. Man, Orlando's guard play is SO BAD. No wonder Van Gundy wanted to get Nelson back in the fold quickly. Reddick made some bad plays but Alston was unspeakably bad when he was out on the floor.
  7. FIFA rankings are horribly flawed. The ELO rankings have us in the mid 20's, which is about correct. As far as a top 50 player, Tim Howard might make that list if you allow for GK's. No field player would make the top 100, sadly. It seems pretty disjointed that a team in the top 25 of the world wouldn't have one guy who you'd say was at least approaching a world class level.
  8. I'm a complete soccer noob but I like to watch the games the national team plays so maybe one of you knowledgeable types can answer a question or two for me. Does the US have at least one player that would be widely considered one of the top 25 players in the world? Top 50? If not, where are the preponderance of our national team players relative to the international talent? I know that not many of the players play in the best European leagues. Why is that? And if there aren't that many how is the US ranked respectably high in the FIFA rankings (which I understand mean very little in the grand scheme of things but it should be somewhat illustrative of a relative talent level)?
  9. Well that sounds good. But I can only think about training camp of 2007 when every report was glowing and it looked like the Bears offense and Rex were ready to blow the doors off the league.
  10. I thought Graham was pretty decent last year. Or am I thinking of Payne who looked good at times too?
  11. http://bostondirtdogs.boston.com/Headline_Archives/BDD_SS_MM_SI98.jpg Obvious roid monster!
  12. Why? Oh and for the guys wanting DeRozan, doesn't his shot scare you? No, not really. He's not a good shooter right now but a lot of super bouncy wing types aren't and develop jumpers once they get into the league. At the end of the year he was really showing a nice pull up jumper in the midrange area. I think he'll develop an adequate 3 point shot in time--he's got good mechanics and a nice, high release point. My biggest concern is his handle--he doesn't have one. He gets flustered easily and can't slash to the basket because it's really quite poor. It takes away from his leaping ability.
  13. Wow, that's some of the dumbest crap I've ever seen.
  14. After this years Ohio State game, USC's OOC schedule doesn't look so hot. Mostly BCS programs (Hawaii and SJ State are in there) but lots of down programs like Virginia, Syracuse, and Minnesota. BC should still be decent in a few years when they start a home and home. Notre Dame will need to get its act together.
  15. Wasn't Florida home of the infamous (and hilarious) "Don't tase me bro!" incident as well?
  16. SVG's a good coach.
  17. Kirk brings a lot of value as a player. I agree now is the best time to deal him because his value is up after playing so well against the Celtics (especially defensively) but he's a good piece to have--he's just expensive for a backup. I'd miss him though and I'm sure we'd be losing out, at least next year, on his skills relative to what's going to be gained from the #6 pick.
  18. FOX missed Jeff Kent on the "Name the two 2nd basemen to hit 25 or more homers in 4 consecutive seasons." Edit: Bloops, guess not. I guessed Kent and Ryno and looked it up on B-R and I guess I didn't look closely enough because I thought I was right at first. Now, I'm looking at Kent's numbers again and he had a few sub 25 HR seasons sprinkled in when he was a force.
  19. That would be interesting. Assuming that pick isn't dealt for something else who would you guys want? I think I'd go 1) Hill (pipe dream) 2) Harden 3) DeRozan 4) Evans? I don't think he fits well because he's ball dominant but he has a ton of potential. #6 is probably too high for Blair.
  20. You don't like Deng's injury history, but you want Shaq? Also, Luol Deng was better when he was 21 years old than John Salmons was this year, in his career year. Salmons has a much more cap friendly contract in terms of both dollars and length though. But if you could guarantee me that 21 year old Deng is coming back I wouldn't have an issue keeping him. I just don't think he's going to be that good again. Between the injuries and the system we play in now where Rose (rightly) runs the show I don't see it coming back. Deng is basically a guy who relied on making lots of long, open 2s and slashing to the basket coming off of curls and screens. That's not really conducive to what's being run now.
  21. Nah way man... apparently the only way you're the best player is if you win championships... screw your physical dominance and utterly amazing skill. Uh yeah, give me an example of someone considered one of the best players of all time that hasn't won a championship elgin baylor. what do i win? Elgin Baylor wasn't even considered the best player on his own team during those years.
  22. Nah way man... apparently the only way you're the best player is if you win championships... screw your physical dominance and utterly amazing skill. Uh yeah, give me an example of someone considered one of the best players of all time that hasn't won a championship? This isn't baseball. If you're truly the best in basketball, you're on championship winning teams. That's nothing new. Dan Marino sucked. No, but not one really says he's the best football player of all time either. Anyway, I was talking about basketball--even a quarterback can't carry a team to a title like a dominant talent in basketball can.

  24. I don't know a single person who watches any TNT original programming. Where is this audience that justifies a billion new hour long dramas on TNT?
