  1. Oregon actually meets expectations from time to time, though. It's Cal that always craps the bed when they're expected to do well.
  2. The eye test is enough to tell me that Peterson is significantly better than Forte and every other runningback in the league.
  3. It's not like Bartman jumped out of the stands and tripped Alou preventing him from getting into a position to make the play. I don't see Alou being unathletic as very relevant. It doesn't strain credulity to think he could've caught the ball. It is pretty funny how up in arms a lot of you are about this. Steve Bartman isn't the first Average Joe to be caught up in a momentous event and be put under the microscope for it--on ESPN, or in any other form of media--and he won't be the last. His situation has been a template for documentaries, magazine features, and books for decades. There's nothing unique about him in that regard.
  4. Dempster didn't even look at Bourne because no one could fathom why anyone would break for home on that play. Bourne's stupidity paid off. It's still on Demp but I couldn't believe he was trying for home.
  5. Can we just get a continuous shot of the blond in the front row while the Houston pitcher warms up?
  6. You don't see productivity from your 1-2 hitters everyday folks.
  7. Anyone know Fuku's availability for the rest of the night?
  8. Gameday showed balls 2 and 3 catching quite a bit of plate.
  9. It seems like the U.S. is the one country where people try to pigeonhole other countries' popular sports in. There's only so many hours in a day.
  10. I thought Milton was going to be out easily. That relay throw from Gonzalez seemed pretty lollipop. I'll take it though.
  11. This is unfortunate news for Meph. Boy, is he going to regret that in a few years--especially if he washes out in the pros. Passing up all the tail you could possibly want at a school like Florida is insanity. Although I don' really believe he's a virgin to begin with.
  12. I find the "which major is the most prestigious" argument pretty interesting. I follow the (American) PGA Tour and I would venture to guess that most American players would want to win The Masters or the US Open over the British. Do you guys think all European players want the British the most? If I were an American PGA Tour player I'd probably want to win the US Open at either Pebble or Oakmont over anything...then The Masters...then the British at St. Andrews. I'd probably pick a PGA Championship at a really famous course (Baltusrol, Merion, Riviera, etc.) over some of the lesser known British Open courses.
  13. 2nd shot wasn't that bad. The up and down was butchered. Watson's mid range putting has always been his achilles heel, even when he was the best player in the world. And you're completely wrong about people not remembering this. The people who wouldn't remember don't follow the sport anyway. Everyone who actually likes/follows the sport will always remember it. Did you know that Watson has won more majors than Palmer? This isn't like an aged Kenny Perry or Fred Funk making a run. This is a top 10 player of all time and Nicklaus' TRUE rival. It's a huge story within the sport.
  14. I kind of feel bad for Cink. If he wins he goes down as the guy that had the temerity to ruin Tom Watson's Last Hurrah.
  15. Holy crap what a HUUUUGE putt.
  16. I can't help myself: http://www.sacbee.com/846/story/2037219.html I loathe Jason Whitlock.
  17. 1998 Gary Gaetti
  18. Wow, Watson with the 54 hole lead. It'll be tough to hang on with Furyk, Goosen, and Fisher lurking. I'll be rooting for him for sure.
  19. I welcome any and all potential bulletin board material from a division rival directed at a unit as unproven as the WR corps is this season. Hopefully they step up and don't fold under the scrutiny. Also, hawkeye, Eddie Royal was drafted outside the first round and had a big rookie year. Hopefully Cutler can replicate some of that success with Iglesias or Knox 8-)
  20. 2006 was great and the last few minutes of the MNF Cardinals game is the only thing I've ever seen compare to the pandemonium of the back to back OT wins via Mike Brown pick 6s in 2001. There was also that brief beriod in 2000 when Jim Miller to MRob/Engram looked like the Greatest Show on Turf.
  21. I didn't hear any booing of President Obama. What are you talking about? NOT MY PRESIDENT!
  22. Here's another look at Cutler v. Rex v. Orton: http://smartfootball.blogspot.com/2009/07/jay-cutler-vs-kyle-orton-vs-rex.html
  23. It would be scary to see how far some of these guys could hit one with an aluminum bat. Not as far as Bryce Harper [/meph]
  24. Does it still count if it's against the Padres?
  25. Jason Whitlock is such a troll. It's almost funny. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/9777174/Don%27t-be-so-quick-to-make-McNair-a-hero
