    Jawja seems to have really good season every time they're supposed to be in a transition year.

    Peterson showed better legs than I've seen him have in a long time in the last preseason game. Jones looks like he's got anvils attached to his ankles out there.

    ND should smash them, honestly. If it's some middling victory and then they lose to Michigan I could see Weis being canned shortly thereafter.

    Yeah, the secondary worries me but I think there's enough talent and depth on the line to be at least serviceable. Hopefully Marinelli is as good as everyone says. The linebackers do not worry me at all though--I think it's a top 5 unit in the league with the addition of Pisa. He's just a huge improvement over Hillenmeyer. Briggs and Urlacher are still among the best players at their respective positions. This defense is serviceable to above average. But even with Cutler, this team isn't going to the Super Bowl unless the offense or defense is top 5. I don't necessarily disagree but I think if you can control the ball, force turnovers, or get great special teams play you can be a SB caliber team without one unit being a killer.

    Aug. 12, 1996 is a preseason game though. I'm thinking they messed up the date because there's no way the highest rated NFL game ever on ESPN is a preseason game.

    Favre's always been a great technician on the halfback screens, which probably doesn't seem like a big deal until you realize Orton and Grossman could never execute one to save their lives.
