  1. Really? There's always Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan, Nebraska, etc. I mean it's not a bad gig, but one of the best in the midwest? Populous state, decent recruiting grounds, no real in state competitor, good college town, big budget, decent tradition? I don't see why they can't get the same kind of success as Wisconsin did under Alvarez if they make the right hire.
  2. Illinois can't hire a young, hungry up and coming guy? Maybe they don't recruit like Zook but they'll recruit well enough and be much better coached. It should be one of the most attractive programs in the Midwest.
  3. Nice tackling Arkansas.
  4. Well the 3rd down call should've been a touchdown. The moron QB tried to rifle it through the line when he could've lobbed it underhand and it would've been complete. The problem with Mullen's system is that when you don't have a guy like Tebow short yardage is a problem because you don't have a guy getting down hill quickly. Even handing to a power back usually involves some sort of option fake and that just wastes time when you need 6 inches. For the life of me I don't underestand why these spread option teams can't put in an I formation. It should at least be in their package instead of some 3 fake option smoke and mirrors crap when all you need is ONE FREAKING FOOT.
  5. I'm getting Cubs-like disappointment because of Mississippi State. Oh well.
  6. what's the point in even saying this? i have no desire to watch west coast teams, either, but why say it? Well, Cal-Oregon is a lot more important of a game for starters. Not to meniton Illinois is garbage.
  7. Another incredibly lucky win perpetuating the myth that Les Miles is competent.
  8. MISSISSIPPI STATE = FAIL
  9. omg omg omg
  10. punch this in bulldogs
  11. 1st and goal Miss State!!
  12. MSU needs a touchdown. They've got the ball at midfield with 4 minutes left and 3 timeouts.
  13. ones on ABC and the other is on ESPN i thought I've got Cal/Oregon on ABC. I really want to see what Harris can do against Tech in Blacksburg. He's fun to watch.
  14. I can't believe I'm getting Illinois vs. OSU instead of Miami/VTech.
  15. Nice try Indiana.
  16. Mississippi State winning would make my day.
  17. FOOTBAW DAG GUNNIT
  18. I woke up about an hour ago and have seen more -20 yard plays in the early games than I can ever remember seeing.
  19. I agree. I used to think Ole Miss was going to be the dangerous trap game and that one game I fear on the schedule, but after watching Ole Miss (or in the words of Erin Andrews, "Oh Mess", I simply do not fear them as much. This can still beat Bama, I won't deny that, but USC really exposed them. I don't know if I'd say that USC exposed them. I don't think USC won that game so much as Ole Miss lost it with their unbelievably stupid playcalling (usually a great strength) and horribly sluggish play. Save for Michael Oher and Peria Jerry (two big losses no doubt), this is exactly the same team that beat Florida in the Swamp, beat the dog piss out of LSU at Death Valley, and beat up on Texas Tech in the Cotton Bowl. The exact same team that was only beat by a total of 17 points last year. Don't forget Bama only beat us by 4 at Bama last year. All homerism aside, I think they are a very good team (though certainly overranked). Last night was totally inexplicable. It was a big mistake to schedule SE Louisiana after the bye week. That's basically three weeks of scrimmages after you've only put in 1 real game.
  20. I'm hoping PSU's appalling schedule thus far will leave them ill prepared for Iowa. Not that I hate PSU but I need weird crap to happen for USC to get back in the hunt. Between swine flu and increased parity I'm thinking this will be a pretty wacky year. No one's out of the picture yet for sure.
  21. Yeah, had a feeling that was gonna bite them in the ass. Of course, Palmer and James would prefer to talk about Garcia "managing" the game instead of them doing nothing to try and put the game away.
  22. Man, it seems like a lot of teams have already had the flu sweeping through the locker room. There's going to be a lot of weird losses and bellyaching when swine flu really kicks in.
  23. Brilliant play calling in the red zone.
  24. I hope Detroit beats Washington. Every week the Lions lose the team that plays them next (like the Bears next week) will have more pressure to not be the team that lets them win.
