  1. Yeah it looked like the US's strategy in OT was to unleash prayers from just inside the blue lines hoping for a soft rebound/goal from Luongo. Not a bad strategy considering he had a hard time controlling the puck. Still with all that open ice you'd hope for some better opportunities.
  2. Did they start putting in that effort recently? Look at the trend: Barcelona - 54 medals, 16 gold Atlanta - 50 medals, 16 gold Sydney - 59 medals, 28 gold Athens - 63 medals, 32 gold BEIJING - 100 medals, 51 gold On the other hand, the US has put up 100 medals 4 of the last 5 games and has never been below 36 golds in that span. The biggest factors in determining Olympic success is population and per capita GDP. Even in 2004 China was still in earlyish stages of becoming a 1st world nation. They probably ramped it way up for Beijing but I would expect them to be right at the top in future Olympics.
  3. Bobsled? yeah, whatever, they still beat us at everything else. [expletive] em. now when and where are the summer games and can we please [expletive] win the most gold medals at that one? [expletive] [expletive] [expletive] China's probably taking over the Summer games for the foreseeable future. They're pathological about it. Maybe. The games won't be held in China for the forseeable future either. Dictatorships are good for producing Olympians in fringe sports no one really gives a [expletive] about. And then you've got 1.3 billion people to choose from. The U.S. usually couldn't top the USSR when it came to the Olympics and now you're talking about a much, much larger country.
  4. Bobsled? yeah, whatever, they still beat us at everything else. [expletive] em. now when and where are the summer games and can we please [expletive] win the most gold medals at that one? [expletive] [expletive] [expletive] China's probably taking over the Summer games for the foreseeable future. They're pathological about it. This reminds me that the US, collectively, will never feel about a sporting event like the Canadians do about this gold or most of the rest of the world does about the World Cup.
  5. Why can't we just have sudden death with as many OTs as necessary of 5 vs. 5? I swear the big international competitions just over think it when it comes to overtime.
  6. Correction: Holliday's time was unofficial. His official 40 time was a 4.34. CJ's record is still intact. Golden Tate ran a 4.36. That ought to help his stock. He's doing a good job of managing expectations. Tate basically said he expected to run a decent 4.5 time and ended up running sub 4.4. As opposed to the 99% of guys (some of whom have concerns about their speed) who say they expect to run in the 4.4s and end up running 4.7.
  7. God Pargo is just destructive to a team when he's out there. It's not like he's some guy who just disappears on the floor. He actively ruins your chances at winning.
  8. Buh, brain fart by Noah. That would've been a huge block.
  9. How did that not go in?
  10. Freaking Kirk.
  11. BERNARD BLOWS IT
  12. Let's hope Simmons has good connections within the league because he actually predicted James and Bosh to Chicago. He's been on that kick for the last month or two afaik.
  13. I would love to see the Bears Westbrook saw where they played great defense and Forte ran hard.
  14. Shouldn't you expect your supposedly world class goaltender to do more than not give up bad goals?
  15. If Russia puts another one on the board Canada will tighten up big time.
  16. Bryzgalov.
  17. Wow, that was a snipe.
  18. Nyet nyet, Soviet.
  19. Because here in the States, we'd be rooting for Canada if they were playing the Swiss! Actually, I think US hockey fans would. They have no reason to root against Canada. Well we love an under dog. Although both teams are vaguely French so it would be tough to root for either. I would probably go for the Swiss because the idea of Canada being knocked out by Switzerland on their home soil is hilarious.
  20. What the hell do bermuda shorts have to do with anything? She's been wearing that crap for a long time and obviously would not have been allowed on air if it violated dress codes. Women in the professional world where that style of clothing all the time. If you believe that to true, this is just a stand still. I still believe that she is not dressing professionally. I believe that ESPN has a double standard in dress code. If that is the case they should not be upset when someone like KT comments about it. Regardless of your conservative definition of dressing professionally, commenting on clothing is a direct breach of sexual harrassment policies. What about in this situation? http://frothygirlz.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/curb.jpg
  21. I've checked 3 sites (ESPN, NBCOlympics, and Yahoo) and this information isn't readily available. Even on their live blog it doesn't provide that kind of information readily. So stupid.
  22. Work is blocking the plugin I need to watch on NBC's site. And apparently ESPN.com and the NBC site actively want you to not know the score or the amount of time left. It's like they're hiding it.
  23. You guys must be missing cable news these days if you think Storm is wearing anything out of the ordinary. If anything, ESPN is a few years behind cable news when it comes to dolling up the women anchors. Within 5 years, all female anchors and sideline reporters on ESPN will be reasonable facsimiles of Erin Andrews. God bless progress.
  24. When Phil left for the Lakers with Tex, Harper, and Grant it made me hate them even more. Knowing the Bulls were hopeless my NBA related rooting went to whoever who was playing the Lakers. I've never actively rooted against a team more. When the Blazers and then the Kings a few years later totally gagged against them in the conference finals I was pretty livid.
  25. What kind of trivia did they ask?
