  1. Depth doesn't matter as much in the playoffs. When smart, focused, defensive teams start trapping Rose as soon as he crosses midcourt we'll wish we had another ball handler that could make them pay. I agree that you just don't throw Asik/Gibson away for nothing but you can't swing another deal built around picks and spare parts to upgrade Keith [expletive] Bogans?
  2. Still a lottery pick. For a guy busted for steroids who also punched a teammate. That's too much to give up. Yeah, that's the reason you're poo pooing it. ? I would have liked Mayo but not for a lottery pick and McRoberts-equivalent. McRoberts equivalent? So like the guys down at the Y? Josh McRoberts is nothing.
  3. No matter what SG we get it still gives the Bulls a puncher's chance at best to win it all, IMO. I think Mayo or Lee gives them that chance THIS year while Boozer is still in his prime. Holding onto too many young guys that weren't true stars was a big problem in the Skiles years.

  5. Exactly. The Bulls aren't going to win a title with Courtney Lee. And they arent going to win a title with Omer Asik either You'd be wasting a tradable asset in the offseason for a better SG. And Asik far more valuable next season, when he continues to progress and Kurt Thomas wouldn't be blocking him. Noah is still going to be there at C playing 35 minutes a game. If everyone is healthy Asik is at max going to get 15-20 minutes. He's useful but a starting 2 is going to get 30+ a game.
  6. We can have foot races between Kurt and Brad between quarters.
  7. Gibson and Asik have value because when they're on the floor together they can be suffocating defensively and they can start in a pinch. But with Noah back, there's less than 30 minutes between them to go around.
  8. The 5 people in the entire world who care about that post on this forum
  9. c/s on UMFan spergering out about certain things but the road record is a valid point. 13-13 just isn't good.
  10. We're pretty much a balls out effort/D kind of team that wins ugly a lot of the time. When the home team has the crowd behind them and gets homer calls that edge is diminished. It would be for any team but basically we have to outhustle to beat even average teams. Noah will help in that regard...
  11. Boy will I be annoyed if the Bulls haven't gotten a 2 by tomorrow afternoon
  12. I was following on gamecast and was wondering if the Bulls were ever gonna get a stop. [expletive]
  13. Scottie's doing one regular season game and then every playoff game? Who does he think he is? Jim Nantz? I do think it's pretty cool but maybe some more airtime would be in order before he starts on playoff games.
  14. The Boston Celtics: Steroid cheats
  15. I think getting a real 2 guard that can handle the ball, shoot the 3, and defend gets us most of the way there. The Bulls probably have the smallest margin for error among all the contenders because of what you talk about--no elite second player.
  16. WARP, PER, WS82, WS/48 work for you, then? Not really. Numbers are nice but just because baseball has been boiled down to an equation doesn't mean basketball stats are nearly as descriptive. Melo's easily more than "not very valuable" So what you're saying is you like numbers until they disagree with you, and then they are useless to you. Hell, there are even numbers that suggest that Melo's value this year is less than Billups'. The primary reason all these metrics are valuing Carmelo so low is that his sole value is in his shooting, and he hasn't done that well this year. Thus the reference to his TS%. Rather than look solely at this year, though, I thought it'd be fairer to look at his projections over the next 3 years, as he's quite certainly having an off year this year. To see him behind so many players in WARP projections is odd, which is why I don't consider him a top 10 player. Top 25, sure, but not top 10. Well sorta. I'm certain he's a better player than he's shown this year with the trade rumors hanging over everything. That's also why I never was all that worried about his lack of defense when he was floated to the Bulls. Thibs can get anyone with his tools to play passable D, IMO.

  18. I think they'll get someone. If I had to guess it would be Anthony Parker or Courtney Lee.
  19. No one is saying he's a crappy player. Just disputing the commonly cited idea that he's a top 10 player. Oh I think he's comfortably in the upper half of the 10-20 range. That's pretty valuable.
  20. Hollinger's an idiot.
  21. Melo's been the best player on a team that's won 50+ games in a tough conference the last three seasons. Reflexively pointing at TS% is lazy.
  22. those buzz tweets are hilarious moar
  23. I'll get worried if Melo and Amare gel well. I'd probably have a mental breakdown if we lost to the Knicks in the first round.
  24. You don't want too much grace or you won't be able to stand.
  25. I see. You raise some good points. So what do you think we should do about the SG situation?
