  1. Are you envisioning Jackson, Almora, Soler in the OF? Would love that to wind up happening, as slim of a shot as it is.
  2. I really want Brett to be a longtime fixture.
  3. Starlin's comment: "I like it". Followed by "I mean, I don't know if that's the rwal numbers, but I'll take it." Total awesomeness.
  4. If it actually is 7/60 with an 8th year option at 16, it's awesome. I had it in my mind we'd be looking at 6/54 on him, broken down 3,6,9,12,12,12. Which I thought would have been excellent. Going year to year with him would have been a bad idea obviously, but my guess is his 1st year of arb, he'd have gotten 5 mill or so. So whatever the breakdown ends up being, we've done great here.
  5. There's evidently a 16 mill option for that year too though. It looks like it could be 8/76. Plus, we could always pull a deal like Tulo or Braun did and extend him in the middle of the current deal.
  6. http://t.co/S4iXhX01 Padilla's reporting it too.
  7. John Perrato just said on Twitter that the Cubs did well to get Castro for 7/60. That said, I have no clue who actually reported that or if it's true.
  8. Glad to see Kirk starting.
  9. Ibaka just got 4/48. Asik got 8 mill a year. What's Taj worth? Ten a year? And is it worth keeping him?
  10. I actually really respect hia analysis. In both cases, Law moreso, they can get trolly. But they also give out lots of great info. Law is great when it comes to the draft, it's worth putting up with the rest just to get his take on that.
  11. I think we all probably upped our expectations somewhat when we were seeing the guy devour AAA. Still, at his age, I don't know what the ceiling actually is. But I DO think he's a future All Star caliber 1B, so that's good enough for me. If his OPS falls under .800 this season, I'm not going to worry about it.
  12. FWIW, KG really likes Barney.
  13. I really hope we add a young guy thru trade, but I think our bait almost has to be Barney, Vitters, and/or Brett. The rest of our guys are too far away or too important to our future. Maybe we could find a team willing to trade minor leaguers? At any rate, if we figure Shark, Garza, and Wood as 3 of our 5, a guy we trade for, and maybe a Marcum, McCarthy type gives us a solid rotation. I'd love a rotation of Shark, Garza, Brett Anderson(Barney and Vitters?), one of Marcum or McCarthy, and Wood. If we deal Barney, go get Scutaro or Kelly Johnson to replace him shortterm, until Torreyes is ready.
  14. Peralta's final line: 6 5 3 2 2 8. Still very solid.
  15. I was thinking maybe we'd take a flyer on Madson or maybe a Matt Capps, JJ Putz, Broxton type. My guess is at least one of those guys winds up with a one year deal.
  16. Well, you'd do it to trade them, I guess. Personally, I see us adding a closer on a one year, because I think Marmol's getting dealt this month. Keep one of Camp or Corpas and add one other guy like a Durbin. Fill out the pen with Russell, Cabrera, Beliveau, Dolis, Maine, whoever sticks after Russell. Maybe have a rubber arm like Germano to be your swing guy.
  17. Cool. I didn't even know the name until I saw blurbs he was carving up tge Cape. Have you ever watched him?
  18. I wonder what other changes can happen, other than replacing Fleita? And part of me wonders if we don't just promote Serra anyway.
  19. I think I'm hoping for Stanek, Whitson to reestablish himself or that pitcher from Indiana I haven't learned to spell his name yet.
  20. Rosenthal says deal is for 6-7 years, with a club option attached. Should be done by early next week, if not sooner.
  21. Soler IS in the lineup tonight.
  22. I honestly feel as though the A's would appreciate Darwin Barney more than Vitters, especially since they could use him as a SS. It could be both, or one of them and Brett or any number of combos, but they have plenty of pitching and needs in the OF, SS, and 3B, probably to be filled cheaply. Atlanta is in the same boat, minus MIF. But if we're to acquire any young pitching this offseason, it's a strong possibility it's from one of those two teams. Since it's very unlikely Garza's being moved.
  23. His AAA season has put him back on the map much moreso than 20ish major league AB's would take him off it. Just because I mentioned using him as trade bait, doesn't mean I think of him as some outstanding chip though. By himself, he isn't getting us much of a return, unless he turns it around and has a phenomenal last month and a half. At which point, we'd probably hesitate trading him anyway. My hope is he can be part of a trade with Atlanta for Delgado or part of a deal with Oakland, for any one of a list of their young pitching.
  24. If you told me when Hendry was fired, we'd get Hoyer to replace him, I'd have been extremely happy. I'd have been hesitant with a complete teardown though. While Theo's never done one, having him here certainly gives me more confidence in the total gameplan.
  25. The FA class is so weak, it'll be very interesting to see what we do, because I really don't see us overpaying for guys yet. I definitely see us grabbing a couple of SP's. Probably a couple of bullpen arms as well, especially if we trade Marmol this month, which I think we will. Youkilis at 3B, use Vitters as trade bait? Upton, if we can get him on a 2-3 year deal?
