    Hell no. I'm very disappointed we missed out on him. But the reason we missed supposedly is what has me questioning things more. Supposedly we were the high bidder for him, but Magic closed him down. If anything, I question our ability to "sell" in that situation. Although, we have no idea how that situation went down and Puig's character had some concerns as it was, based on how he changed agents. Wish we knew more on that one.(Hell, all of them)

    I was(hell, still am) disappointed this didn't go through. But if I try and look objectively at the FO, through these situations, heres what I come up with: Soler? No clue, but yeah, we may have had some sort of early agreement there. That said, if we did, MLB could have dug into it and kept us from signing him. They didn't. Dempster? Sure, Jed likely fucked up by putting him in the room while on the phone with the Dodgers. Weird situation to be in and I doubt Jed did it on purpose, if it happened. The douche was hanging out in another room all day and it had to be annoying as [expletive] to Jed and Theo. Especially after the Atlanta thing. Who obviously didn't care about anything, as they traded with us immediately after that played out with them. Haren? The Angels declining his option was extremely telling, as was the fact no one else pulled the trigger on a deal. Not to mention, as soon as the deal was reported, the Cubs(thru Muskat) said no deal was complete yet). If anyone actually is, or has the right even, to be pissed at the Cubs, its the Dodgers. But I'm fine with this Haren thing, mainly because hes a FA now. No one else gave up anything for him either and the Angels let him go. Something was wrong there.

    Don't think this was talked about yet. The guys we'd lose our 2nd round pick for, or most teams would lose their 1st for are David Ortiz(although I think he already reupped), Hiroki Kuroda, Nick Swisher, Rafael Soriano, BJ Upton, Michael Bourn, Adam LaRoche, Josh Hamilton andKyle Lohse. Neither Torii Hunter or Edwin Jackson got one, making each a solid value.

    Mark Bowman, a Braves beat guy broke the Dempster trade. And while there was a report or two that mentioned we bid under 20 mill on Darvish, there were others that had us really close. No one here has any idea what our actual bid was.

    I'm as in favor of our FO as anyone here, but the bottom line is we've now had 2 well publicized deals fall through extremely recently. Not even saying it's our fault. Dempsters was NOT for sure, this one likely had to do with meds. But, they both happened and I can see where teams could get cold feet over a deal fallingvthrough with us. I hope not, but it is possible.

    This is disappointing, to say the [expletive] least. We've really made friends with the two LA teams now too. Doubt we'll be trading with either of them for a long time. Hopefully, it doesn't hurt us in dealings with other clubs, for that matter. The only thing that sounds feasible here is Haren's medicals must be really fucked up. If it's anything other than that, we've fucked ourselves. The money being exchanged shouldn't [expletive] matter in this deal.

    No, this is two Hendry rejects with NTC's that didn't deserve them. An Atlanta guy broke the Dempster deal and Marmol's dumbass broke this one. Dempster was a 10/5 guy. Ah, true enough. Still, it was an Atlanta guy that broke it.

    Another of the Angels beat guys thinks the hold up is confirmation from commishes office, due to money. At any rate, there were a ton of "confirmations" on this one that would look really bad if it didn't go down.

    The only negative thing I can possibly say is that this just makes it even more imperative that they add a guy or two to stabilize the bullpen. Otherwise, it's awesome. I could see Matt Capps and/or Jon Rauch added to the pen.

    The Angels could be sending money? ROFL. I'd be OK with this deal if we were picking up Haren's contract and paying all of Marmol's too.

    Go get Ryu and Marcum now and use Wood as a part of a trade for something young. At any rate, Shark/Garza/Haren has the potential to be a very stout top 3 of a rotation.

    That's the deal with the devil small-market teams make. The Brewers had their run, then the Reds are having theirs. When the Reds peter out, maybe the Pirates will be having theirs. Thats just your doom boner talking. In your heart, you know the Pirates will never have one.
