  1. Lots of graduations. If he comes back and basically holds his own, moves up to Daytona by the end of the year, I'm pretty confident he'll be a top 25ish type. But yeah, bad phrasing earlier.
  2. Javy 3-5 today, showing signs of heating up.
  3. Honestly, I'd love to see Z coming out of our pen.
  4. I don't understand your phrasing. Why would the presence of 20 other teams trying to trade for the same guy help Almora be a centerpiece? To me, if you're a top 25ish prospect, even if your "lead piece" isn't the absolute best being offered, it puts you squarely in the running, to where it comes down to the rest of what you're giving up.
  5. Me too, but we're not as armed as the Cards or Rangers are to get him. The Marlins would appear to want more of a pitching-heavy package, my guess is the Rays would much prefer a hitting-laden package. Couple it with other teams possibly iffy about going "all-in" on a pitcher, I think I see why we would be looked at as the favorites. Especially with us getting his college pitching coach.
  6. And this is to your point that it's hard to figure out what they mean, but haven't they also been clear about wanting to leverage their farm system into impact major leaguers? Yes, as evidenced by their infusion of 26-28 year old players comment.
  7. Kyle, Almora can easily be a centerpiece if you're giving two dozen teams a shot at getting Price. He's very likely to be a top 25ish type prospect heading into next year.
  8. I would think it'd be one of our big 3. Hell, one of Baez or Almora really. Soler's contract makes him more valuable to us than other teams. Probably have to add Vogelbach to either of Baez or Almora, send Travis Wood possibly? I'm sure they'd want something that helps their major league team immediately. Then add in an Alcantara or Candelario as well. That'd be a likely top 25 prospect, a likely top 100, a solid major league piece, and another prospect that has top 100 type possibilities.
  9. I'm with David. As long as it eventually turns the Cubs into the Yankees of the NL Central, I'm fine with it. It doesn't mean we can't contend until 2016 or some crap. We'll have 40 mill to spend next year, if we keep the payroll the same. We'll need a CFer, a 3B, and a TOR starting pitcher. It's not THAT tall of a task.
  10. Jokisch went 6, gave up 3 hits, K'd 7, on 83 pitches. No runs or walks.
  11. Villanueva with a 3 run shot.
  12. Soler will be back Thursday.
  13. Different topic, but interesting. Frandy de la Rosa is in Arizona, competing to play SS with Francisco Sanchez. It'd be pretty indicative of his talent if he skips the DSL as a 17 year old.
  14. Yeah, its not been great. Way early though, we'll be fine. By far my biggest disappointment has been Paniagua not even getting here. I'm honestly not worried about Javy. If he's still struggling at the end of the month, I'll start to though.
  15. Friday. Crud, learn the days of the week just moved up on my to-do list for tomorrow.
  16. It means the damn trust fund isn't as large as it could be from Papa Joe. They're bracing for the spending on the renovations. Who gives a [expletive] what kind of profits there are? Its going towards the renovations. Seems pretty cut and dry honestly. If you'd rather just assume the FO, who has said they'd be transparent from the beginning is lying, go for it. As others have said, you don't deserve this FO. Go be a Dodgers fan, they've got money to spend immediately. And then watch us have a better team with half the payroll in 2 years or less.
  17. First, Theo lies and spins with the best of them. Second, I have plenty of Theo-led complaints that have nothing to do with not splurging on FAs in 2011-12. Your first point is pure trolling and if thats what you think, go be a fan of another team. You've seen plenty of articles basically stating this and Ricketts has quotes out there too. It's just taking a ginormous [expletive] on your argument for the last 6 months and you've got nothing now. Because even you know that if we can't exercise a payroll advantage currently, then asking them to wave magic wands, with what they inherited, was about all they could do. As for your 2nd point? Everyone acknowledges there are a few things they would have done differently. That said, if THIS is where our payroll is capped at currently, there's nothing that could have been done yet to have us in the playoffs. I'm pissed at some stuff too, but its at Ricketts, for not having more funds available.
  18. Direct quote from Theo today:"We are doing the absolute best we can. You ask how important are the revenues to increase our payroll? They are really important. We are not where we want to be from a revenue standpoint, therefore we are not where we want to be from a payroll standpoint." There Kyle, quit blaming the FO. Direct your stuff at Ricketts, because he's got us capped, whether we like it or not.
  19. And he's never had a season he averaged 90 MPH on his FB. is he volstad? Damn, hadn't thought of it that way. But yeah, I guess he is.
  20. And he's never had a season he averaged 90 MPH on his FB.
  21. Its time to at least give Bowden and Rondon some high leverage innings.
  22. Eh, Silva may wind up as a 25th man type as well. Shocked he's got 4 homers already. Three. Silva's a year older and doesn't have Andreoli's success to date, especially given Andreoli's college background they'd want to challenge him a bit more. he hit his 4th right before you brought him up. I think Andreoli is the better prospect as well. But because he IS younger and neither are likely to turn into anything other than end of the bench types, I'm OK with this scenario. That said, I fully expect Andreoli gets half a season, at the minimum, in AA.
  23. Eh, Silva may wind up as a 25th man type as well. Shocked he's got 4 homers already.
  24. Szczur with a HR. Nice start to his season so far.
