  1. That pleases me, if they see Kalish as being a legit replacement for Nate.
  2. Olt's going to contribute this year. Although I do think he'll be starting off at Iowa.
  3. I love watching him, you guys are right though, he doesn't make a lot of sense. Oh well. Didn't see this brought up, but Michael Wright mentioned he thinks the Bears really want Peanut back.
  4. I'd normally agree, but I'd love Sproles if he can be had reasonably.
  5. Dante Rosario just got cut already.
  6. He pretty much let it be known it was his preferred destination. I doubt Emery went into this as his only card. I'm fine adding Johnson or keeping Peppers and spending a 1st on the position.
  7. I wanted him, because 1) he's good and 2) because Martellus is [expletive] awesome, but the dog thing honestly bothered me about Michael, even without knowing the entire story. But I 'm a dog lover.
  8. Think I saw Ward's price tag is 8 per year.
  9. Closing in on a contract with DJ. Gotta admit, as far as re-signing our own FA, Emery did a hell of a job this year.
  10. Thanks Raisin. I guess they're adamant on guys spending a year at the complex. I thought for sure Badler had heard Jimenez and Torres were starting over here. Guess it was just speculation on his part. At least Mejia gets to come over immediately.
  11. Who is Jesus Gonzalez and how much did he sign for? Does this mean that Wladimir Galindo either didn't sign with the Cubs or signed for under 100k?
  12. I'll be fine if they do that, but I'll dream until I know it's not happening. Seems like Mitchell, Mundy, and Ihedigbo are the targets at S.
  13. It'd be awesome to get Bennett. If they could somehow land Byrd or Ward to go with him......
  14. The Bears will convert money from Cutler, Slauson, TJ, Gould, etc into signing bonuses to come up with cap room immediately. Keep in mind that Bushrod and Bennett combined took up less than 6 mill in cap space for year 1. If they want to add a top notch DE and a top notch S, they can. It seems like they want the elite DE and a decent S though, not a Byrd or Ward type. No idea when or if Peppers gets cut, but if he's cut tomorrow, that money isn't available immediately if he's used as a June 1st cut. Bush and Bennett getting cut would literally open up enough space to sign Michael Bennett, without even moving into Cutler or anyone else's deal.
  15. It really seems to me that we're going to find a way to extend Shark at some point.
  16. Ratliff got 2/4 with 600k guaranteed. Good deal for us. Trevor Scott, a DE, was signed today.
  17. That's great and all until there's a draft in a couple of years.
  18. Ways to acquire elite young pitching for us within a year or two..... 1. Draft one at 4 this year or wherever we draft next year. 2. Trade of Shark 3. Trade of Starlin if Javy takes SS and a couple of Alcantara, Olt, Villanueva, and KB take over 2B and 3B. 4. Trade of Alcantara, Vogelbach, Candelario, or anyone else that we may not have a position for. In other words, we're in pretty good shape to acquire some serious pitching.
  19. They also had a lot of high first-round picks, which are where the bulk of draft spending happens. True, but I'm not sure that's a feather in their cap for spending, since the first rounder was usually just slot value. Which any fan of any team should at least expect that to be spent.
  20. They were generally good for one overslot a year, usually less than a mill. They were middle of the road, at best, when it came to draft spending.
  21. Please, please, pretty please let Mike Olt be fixed. Good lord, that'd be huge for us.
  22. I like Turner myself, but I'm with Tangled. I'd take any of Rodon, Hoffman, or Beede over him. And right now, there's not another bat I'd consider at 4, unless Jackson or Gettys show enough to put themselves in the mix. No college bat comes close. If we do take a bat at 4 though, my guess is Shark turns into a couple of top 100 arms.
  23. I definitely have hope on Paniagua. I keep him at 30 on my list too, based on everything already mentioned. No real info out on his struggles, just that he got in the habit of aiming the ball, from Keith Law.
  24. Again, he's 19. Anyone voting for upside guys like Jimenez or Torres, should be voting for Underwood too.
