  1. [expletive], my bad. I started it, I think. No idea why either. It seems like terminology I've heard before, but it does sound odd.
  2. My opinion on neither of these guys is painted by their spring training performance. It doesn't need to be. At least Lake HAS had a modicum of success in the majors and offers versatility and speed. Vitters has no position and looked beyond pitiful in his actual ML stint. It's awesome he's put up solid numbers in AAA, but he's done less than Lake has to make a case for being a Major League player and if he doesn't hit, he offers less than zero.
  3. Lets take Vitters north! He's hitting .625 this spring.(10-16) Oh wait, that's his [expletive] K rate. Never mind.
  4. Stick a fork in McDonald.
  5. So Parks think Tseng has a ceiling of a 2/3 and would now include him inside his Cubs top 10.
  6. According to Levine anyway, Arizona is asking about Shark again. I'd guess its a pretty short conversation on our end though. If Bradley isn't available-neither is Shark.
  7. Idonije meeting with Bears tomorrow.
  8. I'll give you Kalish. The rest? Not a chance. They're pure fodder with no upside. At least Lake has tools and has also put up a better ML stat line than any of them, with the possible exception of Coghlans ROY season, which I'm too lazy to look up.
  9. Nate, Sweeney, Ruggiano, and who are the other 2?
  10. I get that Lake has sucked in spring training. But the FO has said on multiple occasions that spring isn't going to dictate all that much. The majority of us know his stat line was full of holes last year, but he did put up decent counting numbers. I've got no issue with him starting in the majors, because who is going to take his spot? (And no, it's not [expletive] Vitters) Lake has a shot at having trade value or becoming a 4th OFer for us long term. If we had someone being blocked, it's one thing. But we don't.the closest person is Brett and he's not exactly earned a real shot either.
  11. Badler said nice job for Cubs staying on Tseng. 91-93 today with above average CB.
  12. Sucks on Corbin, as I was with Brett, in thinking we still had a shot at Delgado. As for the Tigers, They're in win now mode and losing a pick wouldn't matter that much to them, in my eyes.
  13. Possibly. But Drew makes sense, if he's willing to take a one year deal.
  14. If you could choose between 2 boxes, one guaranteeing that each of the 4 becomes a .750 OPS guy(but not more than that either)beginning in 2016 and the other box having them develop as they are currently....Which box do you take?
  15. Ah, sorry. I'm pissed because Urias just K'd Venable and Alonso at 17 years old.
  16. If you're comparing Kolek to a 17 year old Cole, he's a better prospect.
  17. Absolutely, because 22 innings in a year he had extenuating circumstances in most definitely tell his entire [expletive] story.
  18. With lots of rumors the cap is heading towards 160 mill within a couple of years, it's going to make it much harder to find impact FA, in my opinion. I figure teams will do their best to lock their own guys up. From that standpoint, I was hoping we would go in to Jay's contract, to add Byrd or Ward. Don't get me wrong, I really, really like what Emery has done, but adding an elite playmaker conceivably could have moved the D back in to top 10ish territory, with some help from the draft and the other FA moves we made. Along with what can be a top 3 type offense, it could have turned us in to a very legit Super Bowl contender, in my mind. Hell, still can be as-is, with a good draft. Just would have been easier.
  19. Man, this is good news all around. Reasonable contract, possible move to Safety. Awesome. Proves Peanut isn't a [expletive] meatball, by figuring out he's older and needed to adapt. Emery has had a hell of an offseason. Still think DE, CB, and DT will all see picks within our first 4, but no idea in what order. I'm guessing we're done with FA now, other than minimum level signings. Although Slauson, DJ, and Anderson all came extremely cheap last year. But I think this wraps up the major moves at least. Capping off a very nice plan by Emery. Added Safety competition, a starting CB, a vet LB, and 2 starting DE that are younger, without even dipping in to Cutler 's contract. Not even counting the long term deals given to Jay, TJ, and Slauson.
  20. dream scenario: Rodon at 4 All that really needs to happen is for Houston to talk themselves into someone else. Counting on Florida and the WS to screw up their draft slots is almost a given. Hahn isn't bad at all. They're not going cheap in this area anymore.
  21. Melton is spending the night in Minnesota. My guess from this point forward: Bring back Tillman and bring in one more Safety FA. Bring in Weeden as the backup QB. Draft Donald in the 1st, a CB and a DE in rounds 2-3. Spend the 4th, 5Th, and 2 6ths on WR, LB, RB, O-Line.
  22. Law mentioned in his chat today that any of Hoffman, Beede, Kolek, Jackson, Garewood, and Aiken could go prior to Rodon. He's really not been impressed with him so far.
  23. Emery's presser today said Hixon is there to compete for a spot, will get a shot at returning during preseason. Says still talking to Melton, but money is running out. Tillman is an ongoing thing.
