  1. Geiger at 21 put up an .823 OPS in Daytona, Vitters at the same age was at .770 in Tennessee. Without looking back, if I'm comparing them for their age 21 seasons, my guess is Vitters was still ranked top 10ish in the Cubs system? I honestly have no idea, but he was certainly ranked higher than where they've got Geiger now. My guess is they're sold on Vitters not being able to progress any further, while Geiger hasn't definitively proven that yet to them. Looking at their list, my own top 31 has Neil Ramirez, Duane Underwood, Willson Contreras, Gioskar Amaya, and Daury Torrez in it, instead of Fujikawa, Cates, Beeler, Silva, and Wells(who's 32).
  2. Yeah, Hendry would have been much better at selling off and trying to work with an 80 mill payroll. Let's just get that out of the way now.
  3. I wouldn't rank the older Japanese, Korean, or Cuban guys that come over, period. I honestly don't have Lockhart in my top 50. And considering Silva was decent in AA and without injury concerns, I question why he's listed as extreme. High, I can understand, but I probably would have went with medium, considering I can't see him being anything possibly better than a second division utility guy.
  4. With the Braves TV deal situation being pisspoor, I'm thinking this was their choice of which to keep between him or Heyward longterm.
  5. Interesting, but my guess is this is just in case Hammel can't pass his physical.
  6. I just switched mine to only Vizcaino as well. On my personal list, he's a few slots higher than he's going to wind up being here, so I'll help in trying to get him placed.
  7. In order: Vizcaino, Blackburn, and Black.
  8. I thought I remembered seeing reports Wells was working in the upper 80's last year.
  9. LOLOLOLOLOL
  10. Marco Hernandez ends his Daytona year as a top 20 prospect in that league. Carlos Penalver does the same in Kane Coun Dustin Geiger continues to hit, finally showing up on prospect gurus radar, as a possible second division starter. Dillon Maples is put in the pen and excels, finishing the year in AA. So does Josh Conway, who finishes in Daytona.
  11. I think I remember reading that he expects to go to Iowa.
  12. Craig, I have more confidence in CJ, although I like Pierce quite a bit as well. Just as pitchers, I'd bet on unpredictability, over either, at this stage in their careers.
  13. I'm fishing for a Shark trade.....Honestly though, if I were laying bets, I'll say CJ and PJ will NOT both be top 100 guys at the end of 2014. I can see 4, but it'd be a guy from a Shark deal, the 4th pick, one of CJ or PJ, and one from within the system, out of around 10-15 guys.
  14. I want names.....
  15. See, all that missed development time is a concern for me, not a point in his favor. At his age, I don't see it that way. If he were 25, then I'd probably agree.(let's hope thats not actually the case :D ) Plus, I think his initial showing, even if he had NOT missed that time, was extremely solid and would have put him on top 100 lists and he'd be given a legit shot at being a first division starter, just based off his half season. The potential catch up factor at his age is what gives me hope that he's not only a first divsion starter, but an All Star caliber, middle of the order force.
  16. Soler went TWO years in between playing organized baseball, then got hurt midway thru his season. To do what he did in 2013, especially playing in a country far away from his home and not knowing the language, I think he had an excellent showing. The plate discipline, with that time off and the general way he was taught back in Cuba, was flat-out remarkable. I have no idea why anyone would be down on him whatsoever.
  17. In order for me:Vizcaino, Hendricks, and Blackburn.
  18. During the 8AM hour tomorrow morning, Levine and Finfer are going to have Rooftop spokesperson Ryan McLaughlin and Cubs spokesperson Julian Green on together.
  19. Or Roberts, if Watkins gets kept. If Olt fails, I think our backups are Murphy, Roberts, Watkins, Ruggiano and Kottaras. If Olt makes it, I think we see a bench of Valbuena, Murphy or Watkins, Roberts, Kottaras, and Ruggiano. With Roberts able to play so many spots, I don't see a 5th OFer as a necessity. If THEY do though, I agree McDonald has the best shot.
  20. Yeah. We're going to look at him coming out of the pen.
  21. I think it's got potential. A good "flyer", in this case. I really like getting some of the non roster guys we signed this offseason actually. How would you rank these guys in order of likelihood, in making the 25 man roster? I'll put them this way..... Ryan Roberts James McDonald Tsuyoshi Wada Jonathan Sanchez Chris Coghlan Chris Baker Chris Valaika Darnell McDonald Casper Wells On the other end, I really like adding Kalish and Pimental, who I think can both contribute later on in the season.
  22. Who is Brett Marshall? Is he deserving of a spot on the 40-man? He has back end of the rotation upside at this point. He was a top 10 prospect at this time last year for the Yankees. If we DFA him, someone will claim him, but he's not anyone to get excited about.
  23. Cubs got James McDonald on a minor league deal, with a spring training invite. At least, we've done a damn good job on the non roster guys.
  24. I'm always glad to see hoops post here... Oh, not a shot at Hoops. Just Marlin has gotten multiple things right, with very few mishaps. Damn, did Hoops disappear again though? Hopefully it's just because there's nothing going on.
  25. Our payroll won't hit 85 mill this year, by the way.
