  1. I doubt he'll come cheap. Too many teams with need. My guess is 2/20 to 2/24.
  2. With Schwarber not eligible, Contreras is even easier than Williams.
  3. Williams is an easy choice.
  4. luckily kyle hasn't been around or he'd [expletive] on this so hard I've got confidence Kyle is excited for our future as well as just this season.
  5. Whether we take the division or not this year, the Cards are [expletive] quaking. We are going to be so [expletive] good.(we may already be too) But this division and all of baseball is going to be bowing down to us very quickly.
  6. I think Bryant is most likely making an effort to not show anybody up, since he's a rookie. I predict he is going to start spending more time admiring his dongs over the next couple years. He's got a quote today where he says if he knows its gone, he just puts his head down and starts running. He didn't even see where the ball went today.
  7. Awesome. A 6/7/8/9 of Grimm/Edwards/Strop/Rondon is very nice.
  8. [expletive] yes. More Kenny Powers always.
  9. As much as I love Jake.....Why bother? He's got next year where he'll be making 10 or so and 1 more arb year after that....Too much can happen between now and then to go more than year to year on..... Why bother? You at least consider bothering because he's arguably the best pitcher in baseball, and you might believe the mileage is more important than the age. If you take the year to year approach, you're basically acknowledging he's gone after 2 seasons. Maybe that's the right way to approach it if you really believe big dollars for FA pitchers are a bad idea, but if you believe Jake could be the exception you have to try and preempt his free agency. Letting him get to FA isn't an acknowledgement that he's gone. And I personally can't think of a single pitcher that its a good idea to pay 30 mill a season to for his age 32-35 seasons 2 seasons in advance of needing to do so.

  11. Probably fair to say Harvey pissed off some people today......
  12. maybe it's got something to do with the fact that bryant has an amazing eye and strikes out mostly by swinging and missing at strikes. what exactly i don't know. just a guess. Bryant was just more major league ready in my opinion. Schwarber was called up earlier in his minor league career than KB. Addy had extremely little time above high A ball and Soler was brought thru quickly despite having a pair of years off from competitive baseball. That, along with KB's amazing approach obviously. He's just a year or so ahead of those guys in normalizing his K rate.
  13. I have no idea who Nick Vlahos is, but he evidently said he wanted Addison to fall flat on his face after comparing him to Jerome Walton and Keith Law has made him look like a moron ever since.
  14. The Nats have 6 left(3 at home) against the Mets and 3 at home versus the O's. The rest of their schedule is 2 at home with the Braves, 1 with the Reds, 3 with the Phillies, and 3 with the Marlins. Road games are 3 each with the Phillies, Marlins, and Braves. They've got it easy, to say the least.
  15. I'm not sure anyone has had as much of a difference as Javy as far as supporters/haters as him. I don't care about rubbing anything in either, I just want him to be the icing on our offensive juggernaut cake.

    Rizzo

Such a likable group. Can't remember who said it in a game thread(maybe David?), but I could easily see him becoming my all time favorite Cub.
  17. I saw some pics on Twitter earlier in the day. And yeah, there were boxing gloves too. But it looked like it could have been strippers boxing or something.
  18. What were him and Rizzo doing last night? Those pics are awesome.
  19. 1:08 Comment From Daragh Oscar De La Cruz…… Is he a notable prospect for you? 1:08 Kiley McDaniel: Yep, he’s on the list 1:10 Kiley McDaniel: 6’4, some athleticism, 90-93 heavy sinker, above avg curve, starter traits, some projection. Lots to like. 1:11 Kiley McDaniel: Tracked down this note from a scout on De La Cruz earlier this year: “he didn’t hesitate to take food from the premium seating buffet between innings, so you know he has cojones.”
  20. I honestly don't know this: Is that a board meme or is he actually a Cards fan acting to be a Cubs fan?
  21. Yeah, I'm going off the idea Soler is done for this season. I hope not, but with obliques being tricky to begin with, I'll be surprised if he's back this season.
  22. @JPosnanski: "Hi, I don't think we've ever met. I'm Joey Votto." "Hi. Theo Epstein." -- An exchange I just saw.
  23. They're all there to help increase trade value. Good God. Read the rest of what I said. He's blocked and an iffy addition to the 40 man.
