  1. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/13512551/after-loss-injury-javier-baez-ready-cubs Read this.
  2. I feel pretty confident when we roll out our rankings, I'll be the high guy on Pierce and the low guy on McKinney.
  3. Upside versus proximity to majors, everyone weights those things differently. If Jimenez and/or Cease are brought up as top 5 guys for us, I'm not rolling my eyes at it.
  4. Brett mentioned the possibility of him being a designated base runner in the playoffs. I didn't know he was that fast, but that'd be interesting. Not sure he'd be any better equipped than Szczur though.
  5. 1) pretty sure that was announced prior to today's game 2) If THAT is our plan if Dexter misses time, it's pitiful
  6. When we lose a game for the first time out of 80 near the end of April next year, how bad will RondonFan's blowup be?
  7. Doing it the right way got them 24 more wins in 2012(no playoffs), 3 less wins in 2013, and the same in 2014. Now we're here. Thank god they did it the right way though.
  8. @Shep670: Cubs OPS August: Fowler 1.042 Montero 1.032 Rizzo 1.031 Bryant 1.103 Schwarber .985 Coghlan .866 Russell .823 Soler .760 '15 MLB AVG .716 Holy [expletive]
  9. I think bottom of the top 10. The top end has obviously fallen off, but the depth is there.
  10. When I saw this bumped, I figured it was about Russell. It took a different turn though, it appears.
  11. I really think Schwarber winds up catching part time. Maybe 60 games a year or so. It'll allow us to not carry the no-bat C that's a horrible PH and give us the ability to have another bat on the bench. With the way Maddon uses guys and how he uses the pen, giving him even more versatility just seems like a great thing. Plus, it placates Schwarber's "want" to catch and it preserves him somewhat at the same time. We're so far from a finished product, but I suspect our bench will eventually be full with guys that play multiple positions and play perfectly into Maddon's "mad scientist" type approach.
  12. I'd say its possible, depending on whether Fowler is back. But with Joe, something like that could happen even if he IS back.
  13. The responses can be great too.
  14. I do think Coghlan's versatility helps us a bunch though. We'll obviously add a CF(or keep Dexter). But having Coghlan allows us to look at either another OF or a 2B. Personally, I think Soler rebounds, we keep Fowler, and between Schwarber and Coghlan, we'll be fine with the OF and look more at 2B options in the offseason.
  15. Sorry, that was from the movie Cocktail.
  16. What? You're immune to Coghlan's charms?
  17. Just put it into the Cuban market now.
  18. Holy [expletive], that's pathetic.
  19. A win streak taking us into late April would be snazzy.
  20. Mattingly is dead man walking.
  21. That was awesome. At least the meatball had fun with it too.
  22. I really think Johnson gets slept on a bit. His control seems to be coming around too. No idea if he's under consideration or not, but I definitely think he should be. We're FAR from being 25 deep, dismissing guys like him, Edwards, and Javy is laughable. What titans do we have that indisputably would be better than them?
  23. Wendy Thurm bitching about the travel of west coast teams versus everyone else got a bit of blowback.
  24. Duke and David= MVP of today's game thread. And SSR obviously, who shall make Butters bow down before his awesomeness.
