  1. Since negative stuff still gets brought up from time to time on Javy, usually during the middle of a cold streak..... .285/.322/.562 Star.
  2. This stuff fascinates me. While I doubt they've offered Weber less than originally, to try as get both him and Parker, it's gone thru my mind. An extra 50-100k could be what it takes. While 300k and 150K for college is likely less than what Parker 's number was, I guess I'll stay positive, because we've at least not had him say no yet.
  3. If Weber signs for slot, they have $241,355 remaining to go over (that works out to a $366,355 for one player signed past the 10th round). I'm guessing Weber may be a bit under, at least hope so. But, I'm guessing Thompson gets a decent amount and we don't have more than 250k or so, on the table for Parker. Which likely isn't enough for him.
  4. If Weber gets a bit under slot, it gives us basically our full 5% money to use on Thompson and Parker. And Thompson's signed. So, once we know his and Weber's money, we'll know exactly what we're throwing at Parker.

  6. Navin, looks like Badler ranked the top 50, anyone in it that doesn't have a signing slot yet? And where do our guys fall in his list?
  7. [tweet] [/tweet] Has to be the best article Rogers has ever written.
  8. Robinson with another strong outing of 6 5 1 1 0 4. His next start needs to be in AAA.
  9. It's not the end all, be all, but he didn't even crack PG or BA's top 500. It's fairly easy to make the case he's not a 5th rounder.
  10. Pretty cool.
  11. Liam Hendriks just got DFA'd by the A's. With the current state of our pen, I'd like to see us give him a shot. He's been solid the past few seasons and evidently has gained his velo back after an early season injury.
  12. Sanders is getting 125k. I've got no idea on what to expect on Weber.
  13. Good point, they do vary quite a bit, the younger they are. Hopefully we'll get Mitchell or someone else that gives us some gun readings on him this year.
  14. You've got to take Weber's slot out of that, at 317,600. They've got a bit over 300k in money above the slots to pay Roederer, Weber, or 11-40.
  15. Crap, I meant Parker, not Thompson. Guessing w/ the overslot Franklin got, probably not enough for Parker? We can do mental gymnastics for just about any outcome honestly. But, let's operate on the assumption that all we have is our 5% money to play with. Which is around 375k. Personally, I think Thompson and Pagan get some of that. Maybe even the vast majority of it. No idea. Slaughter, the LSU SS, that's a soph, could get some too. They were all drafted higher than Parker. Who fell to the 28th round, despite being considered a middle of the first 10 Rounds type of talent, with higher upside. If you fall that far, it's a signability thing or an injury thing, or both. He worked out for us and he canceled workouts with other teams too. This is a positive. But, we waited until the 28th to take him? That's a big negative. They were certainly willing for others to draft him at any point. He wasn't much of a priority. His comments though, certainly make it sound like he wants to turn pro. He's even decided against UT and headed to a JC if we can't sign him. Monetarily, he almost certainly had a big number during the process. Or else he would have went much higher. You have to think it'd have been well over 500k or else he'd have been taken much earlier. Number could be dropping though too. He really wants to turn. His parents probably want him to go to college. Tug of war thing maybe. But, we can offer him 150k for college, plus whatever bonus money we've got left over. Would 300,000 and 150 for college get him? No idea, but my guess is that is do we go what we're offering him right now.
  16. Didn't AZPhil have him mid to upper 80's in EXST? Stretching out, not overthrowing, plenty of possible reasons mid 80's was to be expected for him when Phil saw him. But, everyone else was throwing what you'd expect them to. So, it did put me off him somewhat. If he's still throwing mid to upper 80's, he's not exciting at all. He's just getting thru the lower levels due to inexperienced hitters, but will get crushed in High A or Double A, as everyone does, if they've not got something actually going for them.If he's throwing 90+ then he's much more interesting.
  17. Seems like they did 3 different tiers within the top 10 Rounds..... 1-3 looks to be lining up around slot. Hoerner was slot, Davis just a tad over, Richan way under and Herron a bit under. If Roederer gets 1.1 or less, it's basically slot for the first 3 rounds. Holding out a bit of hope he's around slot and we've got extra money to use...... 4-6 seems like slot too. Roberts went under at basically the same amount Franklin went over. I'd guess Weber comes in around slot. 7-10 had Artis come in over by a bit and 8-10 all coming in a bit under, to cancel him out too.
  18. https://twitter.com/Savermetrics/status/1010888543864934400?s=19 We obviously thought pretty highly of Franklin.
  19. I think both those guys will sign. Especially since Thompson's a 4th year junior and we're his favorite team. I'm still holding out for Parker.
  20. https://www.thecubreporter.com/06222018/manfred-cracks-down-mexican-league Hmm. I applaud our ingenuity, I hope we're not about to get busted for some shenanigans.
  21. My guess is Roederer comes in at a mill. Franklin costs 400k or so. Leaves us about 600k to throw towards Thompson, Pagan, Parker, and anyone else we've got to give over 125k to.
