  1. The buzz was he had put on some good weight over the offseason.
  2. I don't see how his play as an 18 yr old at Eugene doesn't project to higher levels. He's not physically developed yet and the Cubs are OK with him taking his lumps in high A. I think this says a lot about his mental toughness. If you don't like young developing players that are over matched against older developing players, then you don't like Hoerner either. I think he had a sub .600 .OPS as a freshman, and that was with an aluminum bat. Hence, why he took the college route? Using his freshman Stanford season is worthless. All we know is that at this current juncture, Ademan's season is a disappointment from what we were hoping. No reason to bother spinning anything else.
  3. I've heard he has a promising spin rate. Exactly! With the right coaching and org he might develop into and fulfill his potential. And that's worth taking on THAT contract? Because with Bryce coming up and everything else, we're definitely not paying his deal to make him go away. We'd work on him all winter and hope for the best again next year.
  4. ——— I wonder if the Cubs can dump Chatwood on someone like the Angels, A’s, Twins, Phillies, or Rockies? Why would anyone take him off our hands?
  5. He's going to bypass Ademan pretty quickly.
  6. Yeah, that’s why I still see this as a 35 win team. Defense will be atrocious. I’m hating the Lavine deal more and more now. He’s going to eat up quite a few possessions while being a giant negative on defense and were stuck with him for 4 years There's injury protection in his deal though. His offense is good enough too, that he's not going to be an immovable contract. Realistically, we're not getting anyone in FA next season. Gives us a 2nd year to decide which one of LaVine or Parker is actually part of our core. I'll agree it's not likely to be both. However, both of these contracts make it easier for us to match salary in trading for a superstar too. If both are healthy this year and things aren't a train wreck on D, I think this team is between 7-10 in the East.
  7. Shot distribution is going to be interesting. Lauri should be the first option, but LaVine and Parker are certainly getting their shots too. I think Dunn needs to be the guy taking a bit on attempts. Minutes distribution up front will be interesting too. No idea how they'll split minutes between WCJ and RoLo. Maybe fairly evenly though. Especially with Portis likely to see a few minutes per game at the 5.
  8. Well..... It's possible that it gets matched. If it's short term, I GUESS I'm ok with giving this a shot? He can't defend the 3, paired with LaVine, ho!y horsefeathers the wing D is going to be awful. He IS talented, but this seems awfully close to trying to shoe horn Wade, Butler, and Rondo together, in Hoibergs offense..... But, we'd be slightly more must watch than we already seem like we'll be. I don't think this works. Yet, I'm still likely to have fun watching it.
  9. Marquez not in the top 20? Thomas was in your top 10 one week ago too, now not in top 20 either?
  10. Bote would be top 6 for me.
  11. I remember a year or two back, that Cameron or Sullivan had said that Javy's extra stuff(tags, slides) probably equaled about another .5 WAR.
  12. Baltimore. Unless you didn't list them because dumb is way too positive of a description for them.
  13. You're saving his entire salary, since you're waiving this Stone guy. You're freeing up a roster spot. And you're not keeping Grant until his RFA season next year. Granted, this is a team way under the salary floor, with roster spots currently available. So, all this move truly does for the Bulls, is gives Payne the backup PG gig. 1% chance this turns into us dealing for Melo today though.(And waiving him) We've now got basically the exact amount available to absorb his contract for picks, until LaVine signs his offer sheet. Which happens this evening. Most likely, too forward thinking and too much money to give up, for draft picks, for this organization.
  14. Summer League and all the caveats..... But, Carter was impressive. Much more athletic than he's been given credit for. Hutchison can get to the rim too.
  15. I think I want him back at 4/80. Reasons as follows..... 1) He's got upside, but is far away from it. So, he's technically helping the tank for another year or two. 2) Cap goes up 9 mill per each of the next 2 years. You'll still have the ability to add 2 max guys, even with this, with a bit of maneuvering. 3) You don't do this, these guys will spend cap space on vets that scrap their way to 37 wins next year OR sign Jabari to a panic offer sheet. Keeping LaVine protects them from themselves.
  16. Add on a throwing error. Best game ever. I'll bet you he's teaching Beating the horsefeathers Out of Coolers 101 tonight.
  17. Yeah, I'd imagine him and Greindl also got 100k+.
  18. Stewart's wrist injury complicated things with him. The Braves offered at least 40% of slot, but they definitely were undercutting him. Still, not sure how you pass it up.
  19. What about the PR nightmare of seeing Harper walk away for nothing when you could have traded him for assets? It's a hell of a lot less than the opposite.
