  1. I like Carter a lot. If he's the guy at 7, I'm fine with it. He's not my first choice, he's in the 5-7 range for me. But, I'd prefer Porter or Bamba, just for the upside. I want an extra pick somehow. And I want to either move up to 14 or 15, from 22. Which seems very doable.
  2. No, not prospecting lol. I'm not here screaming "You suck!!!!!!!!!" We're all going to hit and miss on guys, just part of it. Your opinion is valuable. What I was talking about, is that you've mentioned that, on occasion, your internet demeanor needs a bit of work. I'm not implying Ademan is a miss, nor am I saying anything negative about Rocker. Just using examples of you bringing up guys that we already are super aware that you like. When there's nothing new to talk about with them. May not even be the case with Ademan at this point, he's getting to that point where he's got to kick it in gear a bit more....... Repentance on Kellogg? A month of not talking about Carrera lol. Just kidding, no repentance needed, just joke around a bit more when we ALL miss on guys.
  3. Wwwwwwweeeeeeeeeesssssssss!!!!!!! About damn time! Welcome!
  4. Dead serious, as someone who's gotten into it as much as anyone with you..... And no, I'm not trying to start something here, just trying to be helpful. Everyone has guys they like. We all miss a bunch. None of us are any better or worse at this than anyone else. I try my best to be receptive to what others say, because we're all in the same boat. We're prospect nerds. There ain't many of us on here either, probably 10? I'm happy to hear who you like. You do research EARLY. You post things on guys that, early in the process, some people are getting familiar with them, because of you. That's awesome. You help keep things lively, no doubt. On the other end, you're the most dismissive guy we've got. It's just a message board, but still..... And you've actually addressed you're not great at this. Maybe try a bit more? (Saying this, I'm expecting a Meh, or worse in return, just to give an idea) And honestly? The misses don't matter as much, if you're not bringing them up as much lol. Example, heading every time a dude basically gets on base? Too much man. (Ademan) Rocker. We all knew you liked him. Didn't need to hear it 4-5 times a week. Again, not trying to start anything. You asked a question, just trying to help things.
  5. I doubt it. That signing period is over. And we've got our money committed to this one already. If he failed a physical, got caught with PED's, or whatever else, renegotiating would have made much more sense to have kept him in the same year that we had money to use on him. Be interesting to see where he does wind up now and for what amount though.
  6. Damn, I'd love to get the story on that.
  7. I wonder what Roederer is angling for there. Have to imagine the Cubs knew the number necessary and were going to meet it, along with 4 years future tuition at UCLA. With the lack of overslots in this draft class, it's actually really surprising that they all weren't signed right away. I still think he is signed. He's already said they met his number and his social media stuff has Cubs all over it. I'm guessing is it just means that since he hasn't shown up and taken his physical, it means they're still negotiating. Total guess, but I'm figuring he gets a million. That'd put the first day as close to break even, which I could see them trying to do.
  8. WTF?????? Or I can ask it in another way...... WTF?????? That's gotta be a hot gun. But, even if it is, we've known he's obviously a guy with serious upside. This puts it in some perspective anyway.
  9. Trading down would suck. If anything, they need to move up. If we found our way into 4, I'd take Bamba, or Bagley, if he's still there. At 7, you have a chance at getting an elite guy, but the odds lower obviously..... My final 7 is Ayton, Bagley, Doncic, Bamba, then MPJ, JJJ, and Carter- with the order changing constantly. Mikal Bridges or Young aren't guys I want, but would stupidly delude myself into thinking they can work. Miles Bridges, Collin Sexton, or Kevin Knox throws me into a Christmas Vacation Clark Griswold rant. If we want a 2nd solid pick, take Faried from Denver for 14, even if you give up 22. And buy a damn pick in the 30's, like they sold off last year.
  10. https://twitter.com/CarrieMuskat/status/1007749379107835909?s=19 horsefeathers
  11. Brayden Fisher signed for under 500k, Justin Jarvis signed for a bit over 300k. Fisher in the 3rd as an UNDER SLOT HS arm, same with Jarvis in the 4th, would have made me very happy.
  12. Well crap. Hopefully we've got something else fun up our sleeves. Surprised his bonus is that low.
  13. Rucker with a solid start too, going 6 2 1 1 1 4.
  14. Uelmen goes 6.2 6 0 0 0 5. After a rough start, he's settling in pretty well.
  15. https://twitter.com/keithlaw/status/1007416332655177728?s=19 Ok, back to normality evidently.
  16. http://thecomeback.com/freezingcoldtakes/mlb/2008-local-columnist-advocated-reds-trade-votto-cueto-bailey-joe-blanton.html So, this is one of the worst takes I've ever seen. Writer advocated Reds trading Votto, Cueto, and Bailey in 2008..... For Joe Blanton.
  17. I have sympathy for the kids, because they're likely just doing what their trainers are telling them to do. Yeah, their bonuses are going to fall. That said, it's scary as horsefeathers to try and project 14-15 year olds to begin with. Add in PED's to that equation? It absolutely DOES suck for teams too. I Assuming this is true, it's just another feather in MLB's reasoning to set up a draft. Separating these kids from handlers DOES need to be done. That being said, I'm still not sure it can be done. As for the ramifications here? Lower bonuses. Maybe even a free for all, with these guys changing orgs. The Cubans that aren't cleared yet are smiling right now though, because there's about to be a bunch of teams with the ability to sign them, due to creating money off these bonuses going away. Honestly, from a Cubs standpoint, you've got multiple directions to go...... Keep your own guys signed and go after Cubans...... Let your guys go and reshuffle your deck...... Keep your guys and go after more, due to the depressed bonuses....... Save all for Cubans....... My complete GUESS is we lower the bonuses and give ourselves a better shot at adding more talent thru this somehow.
  18. Holy horsefeathers. Gotta process this one......
  19. Well, he may be. If he got 450k, then it's a pretty major under slot, since pick value is 762,900. Really need clarification on this one, as it could go either way obviously.
  20. They're still playing, so I'm thinking there was a rain delay. Looks like something after 1 out 8n the bottom of the third. Not sure if it was rain, how long it lasted, or what though.
  21. https://twitter.com/BaseballAmerica/status/1006544281560068096?s=19 I guess there's a chance its something they retweeted that's from months ago, they do that occasionally. Haha the tweet doesn’t work. Geez lol. I was hoping for new info on Rodriguez.
