  1. My honest to God theory is most Chicago beat writers are truly idiots.(Sharma and Mooney excluded)
  2. I'm not too worried about it honestly. Its our 2nd rounder we seemingly go with the "his stuff ticked up late" guy..... Stinnett, Rob Z, Abbott, might even be forgetting one.
  3. Gotta like the GOFO! When I first saw this, I thought you said GTFO, because he finally had a strong start all the way thru.
  4. Little goes 7 3 0 0 0 5 with 12/3 go/fo
  5. [tweet] [/tweet] Lol
  6. Oh for sure. He's going to be in on Machado, as he should be. But I know he won't do anything as stupid as Baez or Russell + Monty for a rental. Yeah, I'm okay with giving up Monty + Justin Wilson + Bote + pitching prospects or some combination of that right now, but definitely not Baez + Monty or Russell + Monty. I'd also definitely want Britton or Givens coming back. I really like Mychal Givens and I'm surprised more people don't mention him here. He produced 2.3 bWAR last year and I think he's capable of being a high-leverage reliever/Closer. Wait, what? You want Machado for Monty, JUSTIN WILSON, Bote, and pitching prospects? AND you want Britton or Givens coming back too? What non-existent pitching prospects do we have to conjure up for this? Because we don't have it. That's for sure. I'm ok if people don't want to trade Addy. Personally, I'm ok if we do. Because we'd keep Manny, if we dealt for him. No doubt in my mind. That said, Addy isn't what Baltimore needs. He doesn't have enough team control for a team to go thru a rebuild with..... My guess is Happ is who we'd use as the main piece. With Monty. And probably their choice of Lange or Little. With Zagunis too. But, we get 3.750,000 of their IFA money. Play Machado at 3B, move KB to RF full time. Let him play some SS, when Addy gets a day off. He'll be happy here and we can keep him.....
  7. I'm a big Bote fan. Personally, I think we keep him and trade Happ for young pitching in the offseason, for when we get Bryce. I think Bote will be a very solid ML'er. Baltimore may very well like him. I think the bidding will get higher than that, because of what you're getting in return...... I think I'd go Bote, Zagunis, Tseng or Mills, and one of ODLC or Hatch, to secure Mesa(and possibly Rodriguez too)
  8. I'm not arguing what the value of IFA money has been, in the past. This is a different scenario. Last year, you had multiple teams pursuing Martinez. But, there were multiple teams that had money left over and also multiple teams that were willing to trade off money. If it's true that all teams have spent their budget, you've got a bunch of teams that are going to be trying to acquire one pool of money. For what's evidently a much, much better player than Martinez, in Mesa. PLUS, a 16 year old kid that throws upper 90's and Keith Law said is an immediate top 100 type too. Teams are competitive. I think they'll bid each other up quite a bit, in all honesty. Side note, while teams may have spent their budgets, I DO figure there's some teams that'll have 200-300K left over that's unspent. Without plans to proceed after these guys. A smarter way could be to buy THOSE teams small amounts up. Find 10 teams like that, at 250K per, you've found 2.5M and enough to get at least one of Mesa or Rodriguez. For those small amounts, you're still giving up scraps. 10 scraps is much easier to give up than one actually interesting thing.
  9. Yeah, they're dumb. Not sure if you can actually pay money for IFA dollars or not. But, the fear is that even the light bulb will/has already clicked, because even they'll be like "Wow, there's been 22 teams wanting our IFA money, I bet we can get someone to give us something good!" Because teams are competitive, REALLY want to add top prospects, they'll kind of get in their own way a bit here. I'm not saying their money costs a top 100 prospect, but my guess is it won't be the fodder they dealt it for recently either. Getting them to include it in a Machado deal would be the way to go......
  10. There's probably a team of two out there that haven't committed their entire budget, or even extremely close to it..... But, it's definitely possible all teams are fairly close. Making it conceivable that if a team could trade for the max they can get from the O's, it's land them Mesa AND Rodriguez. Now, if the O's are smart, which they're not, they'd just use their money on these guys. And if they don't do that, the second option should be to sell off their money to 2 teams and not 1, creating a bidding war and keeping a singular team from nabbing both guys. And the 3rd Option should be to try and sell their space to teams that can add the MOST money anyway, meaning the teams that got second round comp picks this year, since they get 500k more than the other needy teams and a mill more than the non revenue sharers. But, it's the Orioles. So, ante up and get the 3.75M or whatever you can get, Theo. It sucks though, because even the O's will notice they're sitting on a gold mine, with 15-20 teams calling about this money......
  11. I think at this point, this is my list..... Tier 1 Ayton Tier 2(slight drop from 1) Bagley, Doncic Tier 3(decent drop from 2) Bamba, MPJ, Carter, JJJ Tier 4(slight drop from 3) Young, Mikal Bridges, Sexton Tier 5(huge drop from 4) Robert Williams, Zhaire Smith, Gilgeous-Alexander, Lonnie Walker, Dzanan Musa, Troy Brown, Donte DiVencenzo Tier 6(slight drop from 5) Miles Bridges, Kevin Knox, Chandler Hutchison, Mitchell Robinson, Aaron Holiday, Josh Okogie Tier 7( very slight drop from 6) Jontay Porter, De'Anthony Melton, Grayson Allen, Melvin Frazier, Khyri Thomas, Keita Bates-Diop, Gary Trent Jr .
  12. Abbott goes 6 2 0 0 2 11. He's at 95 pitches, so I'm guessing he's done.
  13. 2 pitches tonight....
  14. I think Ayton is the best player in the draft, but I do think Bagley is an All Star. 7 seems ideal for them to trade down to, if they want Mikal Bridges. Taking on Parson's deal and giving us 32 is my hope for the trade. But, I only do it for Bagley and maybe Doncic. Otherwise, I will roll the dice and hope for MPJ to be there. If he's not, I'm fine with Carter.
  15. Swarmer goes 7 6 3 3 2 4 Robinson goes 6 5 1 1 0 9
  16. Pretty sure Memphis being willing to trade down assumed Doncic was gone at 1 or 2 Probably so. But, it seems like Doncic may be leveraging where he wants to go to, based on some rumors too. If so, I doubt it'd be Memphis. Cleveland or Philly moving up to 4? Knicks maybe? No idea. It's all just rumors, but it'd be great if one of Bagley or Bamba somehow dropped to 7. Bagley seems borderline feasible actually.
  17. Some rumors from the Combine that could shape things up for is at 7..... 1. Phoenix- Ayton 2. Sacramento- Bamba or MPJ 3. Atlanta- Trae Young 4. Memphis- Prefers trading down to take Mikal Bridges 5. Dallas- 6. Orlando- 7. Chicago- If the top 3 goes like that, you've got Doncic, Bagley, JJJ, and one of Bamba or MPJ still there at 7. Maybe more than one, as Orlando seems to be looking at PG's hard. So maybe Sexton goes there.
  18. According to NBADraft.Net, we're the landing spot for Chandler Hutchison at 22 and the Lakers are the same for Mitchell Robinson, at 25. Both p!ayers decided against working out at the combine, indicating they had a guarantee in place.
  19. There's been talk of Dzanan Musa staying overseas for a year. He potentially is worth taking at 22. I'm a big fan of Isaac Bonga, but he's not a 1st rounder.
  20. Are they severely up against the luxury tax or something? They’re about $15-16 mil under but I bet they’d entertain getting out of his garbage deal and dumping a garbage player for only dropping back a few picks. Yeah, by doing it, they'd actually be under the cap and be involved with FA, in a year not many teams are. They could add a very solid guy and some bench help to a team they expect to be in the playoffs next year.
  21. Take on Parsons deal. He's got 2/50 left on it. That gets you from 7 to 4, plus the 32nd pick, and maybe a protected future 1st as well.
  22. Hutchison didn't work out at the combine, seems to have a landing spot that he's sure of. I like him a bunch and if we take a big at 7, I'd love him at 22. Kind of agree though, doubt he's there. As a UNC guy, I can't let myself say Allen would be nice at 22. But, I can't argue with anything you said on him and his measurables were excellent, as was his athleticism yesterday. If we go wing at 7, I'd roll the dice on Mitchell Robinson at 22. But, he may not make it that far. Same with Jontay Porter. If Troy Brown is available at 22, I'd be ecstatic. A few others I really like are Jacob Evans, Bruce Brown, Chimezie Metu, and Josh Okogie. But, not at 22, if we trade for an early to mid 2nd. I'm trying to talk myself into Bates-Diop, but I just see rotation upside, even if it's immediate. Love his measureables, but don't know if he can slash or shoot the 3 well enough, to turn into a starter. As a 2nd rounder, I wouldn't hesitate, but I'm currently not a fan of him at 22.
  23. Absolutely love this pick. He seems to have a higher ceiling than most college pitchers who go in the 20s: Anthony Seigler went 22. Other guys we’ve talked about: Ethan Hankins went 15, Jordyn Adams 16, Jackson Kowar 17, Noah Naylor 18, Brice Turang 19, Ryan Weathers 21, Triston Casas 23, Cole Wilcox 27, Steele Walker 28, Jordan Groshans 32, Kumar Rocker 33 and Connor Scott 35. Thanks Raisin! I like that a bunch too. More than Kowar, if we take a college pitcher there. Scott down to 35? I'd have a hard time passing on him, if he's there at 24.
  24. Anyone got BA's pick for us and any other tidbits from their mock today?
  25. Stay put. And add at least a 2nd Rounder to it. Picks 20-40 are basically the same caliber guy in this draft. Might as well add to your chances. And you can buy a 2nd from someone obviously and use the "currency" we earned lastyear, by selling ours off lol.
