  1. I like Smith a bunch. Would have loved the Bills trade though. Edmunds, plus 53 and 56, would have been very nice. Pace has said he'd like to pick up a 3rd. So, our customary trade down in the 2nd, or using a future pick to jump back in, could be on the agenda. Would love a Guard or a Wide Out at 39, if we stay there.
  2. Who wants Rosen? Denver has been rumored to love Allen.
  3. I'd love Nelson. Would be very happy with Smith at 8 too. But, if Nelson is off the board, I'm ok trading back to 11,12, or 15. You're still getting one of Smith, Edmunds, Fitzpatrick, or Ward at 11 or 12. Potentially even at 15. If not, then I'm happy enough with McGlinchey, Davenport, or Landry there. But yeah, I'm kind of getting the feeling we'll take one of those last 3 at 8. Edit- The only guy I'd trade up for is Chubb. I hope we do get a 3rd somehow and Pace actually said he wants to as well. But, in the end, I think they'll move back 15-20 spots in the 2nd, if they do it.
  4. [tweet] [/tweet] Not for nuttin'
  5. As long as his back looks good, he's who I want at 6 or 7. If its iffy, then I want Bamba. If both those are off the board at 6, JJJ is likely available and he'd be my next choice. But, I AM worried about Porter defensively and if he can be effective in the NBA at the 3. Still, the upside is enormous and I'd take him over Mikal Bridges or Wendell Carter, who I'd actually take over Trae Young personally.
  6. If we're guessing pricetags, Gallardo at 1.3, Lopez at 1, Machado at 800k, and Morel at 500k. Again, these are obviously complete guesses. But, it's adding up to. 3.6, when we've basically got 5 mill. And obviously we've signed other guys too. The budget is probably spent. Which means we'd have to acquire money to go get Rodriguez. Who's still not mentioned with a team. It won't surprise me if lots of teams are trying to acquire the 2+ mill it's going to take to sign him. Pretty fun that Gallardo is 5th and Rodriguez 9th, in their rankings. Also, nice to see us listed with Machado. Go get Rodriguez somehow and use the MLB draft for restocking hitting, at this point.
  7. I'm really hoping we trade down. I'm perfectly fine with any of Nelson, Edmonds, Ward, Fitzpatrick, Smith, Jackson, Davenport, or Landry. Those last 3 could/should be around in the middle of the 1st. I've even seen Landry last until the 2nd in a few mocks. If that's remotely possible, I'd be beyond thrilled with Nelson and Landry, with our top 2 picks.
  8. I know I've been pro-Javy on everything. I don't remember any long debates on his defense. I DO remember you replaced him in your signature last year with Happ, and cited Javy defenders as having turned you against him.
  9. I can't get anyone to answer a question on who's linked to Rodriguez. I remember seeing someone list some teams expected to spend heavily and the Cubs weren't mentioned. But, you can't take much from that, as it could have just been a list of teams that have already committed big money. I'm definitely hoping the Cubs find a way to snag Rodriguez. And seeing that Gallardo is getting under 2 mill definitely has me hopeful. Especially since there's teams out there that'll be willing to trade off money.
  10. Yeah, Little disappointed last year with his velo. But it could be written off by being the end of the year. There's no excuses now though. Its just down and his strike zone command still seems non existent too.
  11. Oh, we're going to go over. Next year. We're just not going to hit the 40+ mill overage penalty box. Losing those guys helps obviously, but arb raises will eat into that a ton honestly.
  12. They did. But, a team isn't taking on a 100 mill, without getting something very good in return. And for these next few years, I think there's going to be a decent amount of these deals. Because I don't see a single team going into the highest penalty box of the LT.(even if it makes more sense for them to do it)
  13. Well first the commisioner thing isn't a reason at all. From there even if the bold were true, and it's probably not, giving away cheap talent to save money they have is not something this FO has ever done. They just do no act so desperately, I don't expect them to start. Hell, no one dumps their likely top prospect to dump a contract. If there's any comparable to Toussaint in the org, a mediocre and still probably the best and biggest name prospect traded in a salary dump, it's Albertos. Lol. Touki was sent with a SINGLE year of Arroyo. Think it was around 14 mill total. That's what a guy like Touki brings. It's 106 mill of Heyward. That's going to cost a HELL of a lot more than that. Anyway, I'm done talking about it.
  14. It’s hard to imagine Epstein giving up likely his top prospect to dump a salary over a commissioner’s job that may not be available for another twenty+ years. The commish job is not THE reason. The true point is Hayward sucks, is paid lots of money, and moving his salary off the books will give us a bunch of added flexibility. It would take Ademan plus to move him. But, the added draft picks, plus the IFA class additions, should allow us to move a few guys......
  15. Edited in my last post but this seems like the opposite of what the FO would do just to get out of some money. They're a little more than a year out from having more money than they can spend if everything goes as expected with the media rights up for sale. Don't see them or ANY team heading into the draft pick loss section of the luxury tax, no matter how much money they can afford to spend. Theo especially, since he may have designs on the commissioner gig himself, at some stage. MLB doesn't want teams exploiting that and I don't see teams doing it.
  16. I’m hoping we don’t need to get rid of anyone prospects to trade a contract this offseason and just can pay Bryce and not worry about money. Has there been any trade where a team included probably their top prospect to move on from a contract? Probably not. But I don't remember Arizona's system when they moved Touki with Arroyo. At any rate, I think they'll do their best to move Heyward, for Bryce. And it's take Ademan plus other solid prospects to get a team to eat most of that deal. And I think the FO would jump at doing it actually. Because it'd also allow for another decent sized move to stay under the max LT penalties. Prospects are just currency at this point and can be used in any manner to help the ML team.
  17. I'm not worried about K rates with Ademan yet. Nor am I going to take his SLG rates seriously either. But, I do think he's a top 50ish prospect by the end of the year. And a very nice lead piece to pair with Heyward, to unload his contract, in the offseason.
  18. pretty sure portis and our own pick let alone the pels pick doesn't do the job if we end up with the 6th pick Eh, there's at least a chance one of this group makes it to 4. Someone could easily fall out of love with Bagley or Doncic and see them drop a spot of two. In fact, I kind of doubt that they actually go 1-3. To move up a spot of 2? I think it's pretty fair. Again, it's quibbling, we're evidently trying to lock Portis up longterm.
  19. As a UNC fan/alum, it's easy for me to hate Duke guys obviously. I'm not sure I love the fit with Bagley joining Lauri on the front line.... Who's guarding the 5? I'd guess Lauri. But, we'd have some deficiencies for sure. Offensively though? Damn, we'd be fun. Bagley's motor is going to make him an extremely successful NBA player. I think I've got him over Doncic. But, it's close. I do think Doncic is a slightly better fit for us and I do think he's going to be a really good NBA player. That said, I question his shooting stroke. He's athletic enough, in my mind, but I'm a bit concerned he's not going to shoot it well enough to be a consistent AS level player. (And yeah, I do think Bagley becomes one) Ayton? I think he's a damn beast. Period. He's clear cut, in my mind, as the top player in the class. Ayton, Bagley, Doncic, in that order....... And if we wind up with any of the 3, I think the Bulls contend for a playoff spot next year, with no other additions. They're not dealing Portis, but it it took him and the Pels pick, to move up to grab any of these3, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
  20. I just don't think he's going to be successful in the NBA. He's not able to create his own shot, despite being so athletic. His shooting stroke is slow too. I think he's a bench guy. Him and Kevin Knox are the 2 guys in this draft that are going to likely to top 15, that I'm dead set against. ( with our own pick). If they tell to the 15-20 range and you moved back up for one of them, that's fine.
  21. I like Sexton and Miles Bridges more than Carter and Young. Ayton Bagley, Doncic Porter, Jackson Bamba, Mikal, Miles, Sexton Carter, Young I can be swayed into Sexton over Young. I think he's going to be a solid NBA starter. Ceiling versus floor argument there is an interesting one. Honestly though, I wouldn't take Miles Bridges inside the top 12. To me, he's a tweener. I don't see him being a starter in the NBA.
  22. Hatch with a solid outing of 5 3 0 0 2 3, with a 6/2 GB ratio.
  23. He'll resign for sure. They want him back and he wants to be back. There's only 7 or 8 teams that even have cap space this off-season though. So he may not be able to get a long term offer sheet from another team...... Which means he can take a relatively lowball deal from us, or sign his tender.... Personally, I think 4/60ish is fair. But, I'll guess he gets 4/72 to 4/88, if we give him a long term deal. Should we bring him back? Some say no. But, in the position we're in, I'd say absolutely. His cap number isn't even a deterrent. I wish we had more of a look at him this year, but he'll be fully recovered next year and likely take a jump.
  24. At this point, I've got it in these tiers..... Ayton Bagley, Doncic Porter, Bamba JJJ, Mikal Bridges, Carter, Young It'd be awesome to move into the top 3. Lots have JJJ in a higher tier than I do, but I'm fine with any of that tier at 6(or 7,8,9)
