They've scored fewer runs this year. They won so many games because they have the best pitching in the game this year. I am not debating that they are scoring more runs with Pods, I just think that his benefit to the team might go a little beyond statistics. The team is definitely better because of the improved pitching. I think that if you have good pitching, you can win a lot of games with small ball, because you score runs more consistently (albeit fewer in total). It is hard to argue statistically, Pods has been more valuable. If the whole team bought into playing with a small ball approach and it was working, then I think that Pods might be a little more valuable than the stats might show.
