  1. GRRRRRRRRRRR I hope this is not a serious injury.
  2. Kinda off the Marshall topic, but what about this Galagher kid? Is he comparable to Marshall stuff wise? I've been hearing his name here lately.
  3. Yes it is. How about just Cabrera and Tejada?
  4. If it lands us Cabrera.........
  5. I agree with Goony, the window to win is now. Hendry has to realize this. With the youngest opening day starting line up in what was it 25, 30 years? I say use the Farm to get Cabrera (if availabe) no matter what the cost. You have a YOUNG core of starters anyway. I guess I don't see this team as (as bad) as the performance or the record. Frustrating, yes. I can see Wood and Prior coming on strong in Aug. and Sept. (barring any COUGH set backs or stupid injuries) as they have had the first 2 months off. They should be strong at the end of the year. Maybe I'm just being too optomistic. I don't know. I guess the wildcard for me will be how good DLee comes back. From everything I hear, he may not be 100% until 07. I never would have said this about the 04 or 05 teams.
  6. I'm in. CoolCat is awesome. I love that nasty hook.
  7. Tejadas age.........Cabreras age. The Cubs need to use their Farm System for a great trade, not alot of moderate to ok trades. IF, and thats a big if, Cabrera is on the block, I don't see how you can not make a serious run at him. In a year or 2 Tejada will be in decline, while Cabrera has not even reached his prime yet. It's a no brainer for me.
  8. 3 times in 2 weeks Can he not read the ball off the bat, or is he just plain stupid?
  9. Thats like the 3rd time that I can remember that he has gotten doubled off 2nd.
  10. Are we actually excited about Pie and Eric Patterson, two more Cub farm products that have shown absolutely no command of the strike zone and whose value is tied almost entirely to batting average? This organization -- and its worship of toolsy guys with no plate discipline -- disgusts me. I tend to agree, which is why I wouldn't blink if JH used those guys to get a an established hitter like a Dunn or Cabrera. Too late for Dunn now that they are contenders, but perhaps Cabrera could be had. I have been saying this for awhile now. Make a move. A BOLD move. A big move. Cabrera is the man you want.
  11. Lets not toss it in just yet. Granted, this is the worst baseball I have seen the Cubs play in my 22 years of watching them, but it is only mid-May. There is A LOT of baseball to be played. I am as frustrated as the next guy, but I still hold out hope. I still look at the Astros last year, and the Marlins in 03. A couple of 4 or 5 game winning streaks and we are right back in it. IF DLee can come back with a strong and healthy wrist, that will be a huge boost. I think Hendry has to do everything in his power to get Miguel Cabrera in a Cubs uniform, no matter the cost. The Cubs without a doubt, need more power in the line up. Irrational? Maybe. And here is when I will hear it from all of you. They HAVE to count on Wood and Prior to come back healthy and strong. In conclusion, it is very rare in baseball to see the WHOLE team struggle at the same time, but that is what we are seeing. From starting pitching, to the pen at times, to situational hitting, base running, defense, its all slumping at the same time. I'm sure I'll catch some heat for that, but thats just my opinion.
  12. Hendry..............Cabrera now.
  13. Having discussed all of this, does anyone think Hendry has gotten in contact with Florida and asked about Cabreras availability?
  14. So we don't have another Hill for Dunn blooper by Hendry.
  15. If you could replace Marshall with Hill/Guzman....or both, I would do it in a heartbeat. I just think Marshall is the real deal. And if they wanted Sing, or Harvey to complete it, I'd do that too.
  16. After watching this offense spit and sputter to an 8 game losing streak, do we have anymore people on board the "Lets get Cabrera" train?
  17. Could there be hope yet that the REAL Woody is in there somewhere? I sure hope so. Thats the best news I've heard all week.
  18. At this point I would say that we have to hold onto Marshall. I'm no scout by any means, but I see higher potential in Marshall, than Hill. I could be wrong. I hope Hendry has gotten off the love train with Hill and got on the Marshall Express. Do you think Harvey, Hill and Pie would get Abreu or Cabrera?
  19. I have seen this alot lately, do you honestly think our offensive problems are just because DLee's not playing? I agree, he is a difference maker, but his being absent isn't the only reason the Cubs suck at the plate. True, but taking out 46 HR's and 100 RBIs REALLY hurts this average line-up. Throw the farm at Florida.
  20. I'm Really getting sick of no runs, 1 run or 2 runs. There is just no way around it. I don't mean a stop gap, I mean a big time power bat. 2 runs in the last 27 innings is pathetic. Without Lee we just cant score. We go down by 4 or more, the games is basically over. I like this team a lot, but we need to make a move here. Quite honestly I don't care what it costs.
  21. Were Lee and Pierre doing a little recruiting?
