  1. digitally you mean? unless he's got one of fancy newfangled optical zoom phones Yes, I meant digitally. There's no way he owns an optical zoom phone.
  2. Is homie rocking some Pradas? Also, that's the closest to an in-focus shot Gordon has ever tweeted. And I think it's heavily optically zoomed in, too.
  3. The love for Starlin wasn't unwarranted. He was putting up 3 WAR seasons at 22 and was racking up hits as a SS with good raw defensive tools (albeit real flaws, as well). There was a not-that-unreasonable belief that he'd get close to 1,000 hits before turning 25, which would have been pretty exceptional -- counting stats be damned. Unfortunately, he forgot how to play baseball, remembered briefly, then forgot again forever.
  4. Actually, Jed will say that.
  5. I am so proud that this is catching on
  6. None of that makes his behavior remotely okay. I don't know what kind of person flippantly suggests suicide to a stranger, but I do know I want nothing to do with that dude. Shrug. It’s definitely not cool but I also think it’s a stretch to say that he’s suggesting suicide. It read as more of a stupid comeback than anything.
  7. I mean... some random guy told Bauer he was welcome to quit Twitter and that no one would miss him so he told the guy he was welcome to quit life and that no one would miss him. Immature? Yes. But I’d wager that most players your kid likes have done far worse.
  8. He seems like a real prick but from just a pure baseball/looking at his fangraphs page standpoint he’s a guy I’ve long wanted to have. You really need to read the book. Love him after reading it.
  9. but i'm giving him the attention he wants, so really the joke's on me SOTMRFIB
  10. Was it Curtis House? That's exactly who it was. The guy had a lot of racist songs, in hindsight. I was thinking about some of the numbers we had to sing for “cultural” nights and also couldn’t find them online based on lyrics. This, at an incredibly diverse school, with a black music teacher, no less!
  11. I was recently remembering this incredibly strange song our elementary school music teacher would have us sing in the earlier grades...it went something like, "I am playing Indian, Indian, Indian, I am playing Indian, my face is painted red!" while he banged on a big drum and we were supposed to be doing the "babababa" thing with our hands to our mouths. We obviously thought this was silly and fun as hell, of course. When I remembered this, I'm like, "Man, that was incredibly racist." So I googled the song lyrics to see who wrote this song and there's no record of it on Google. So my music teacher probably made up this insanely racist thing he had a bunch of 6 and 7 year olds doing. Was it Curtis House?
  12. There is definitely a romantic mysticism associated with American Indian culture, for better or for worse.
  13. A school in CA, once known as "The Arabs," changed to a more respectfully named and depicted, "The Mighty Arab," with the blessing of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee. Before After
  14. I, for one blame Javy; by not putting a ring on it, he's rendered an otherwise outstanding thread title factually incorrect.
  15. They think our starting catcher is someone named Castillo.
  16. It's not Moustakas. It's totally about J. Arrieta. No doubt in my mind. Moustakas is still pretty young and can probably sign a 1-year deal for a high AAV and enter the FA market next year when teams will be more open to spending. Some team that loses out on Machado/Donaldson can then sign Moustakas as a decent plan B/C for their 3B needs. Sitting out for a long time doesn't really help position players in terms of leverage unless a key injury strikes a contender at that position of need. That quote totally sounds like Jake. I have zero doubts that quote is about Jake, and I've read very little about teams being interested in signing him. Every top team seems to be targeting Y. Darvish or A. Cobb or trading for C. Archer because Boras and Jake are asking for way too much. Boras wants to avoid the GM/Team President in negotiations. He is trying to convince ownership to sign Jake to a long-term contract like what he did with M. Scherzer except no one is falling for it this time. Woah, who is "Moustakas"? Edit: oh, I guess you meant "M. Moustakas"
  17. Aren't the Cubs affiliated with Starwood anyway?
  18. Agree. He has an incredibly annoying manner of enunciation. thank you. nobody ever agrees with me when i bring this up on here and it's so insanely glaring to me that i was starting to think i was taking crazy pills. It's been mentioned but his promos are the worst. The way he says "Cubs" is like he's trying to talk while simultaneously making the sound Homer Simpson makes when eating chips in space. "The Chicago CUPS." But I never mention this because I think I'm the only person who thinks Len's voice is annoying (even though I think he's a great broadcaster otherwise).
  19. ugh. what a downgrade. zaidman is terrible. i can't stand grote so i don't really care either way i find his inflection and the way he exaggeratedly enunciates many words insanely grating. Agree. He has an incredibly annoying manner of enunciation.
  20. It's the faaaaamous Jet Jaxon.
  21. That's... not the same thing. If Kyle is deadlifting 135lbs, he's doing 100 reps. The point was that someone had one second to show him weightlifting in a video and chose an unimpressive weight. I was mostly just messing with you, but there's a nugget of truth that training and improving doesn't require the most impressive physical achievements all the time, so I don't really notice it in a hype video about his training. I think there might be two 45 plates on each side too, but I'm not much of a weight lifter so I'll take your word for it. So what you're saying is you don't even lift, bro?
