  1. They also had the walk off wild pitch in August 2007 against the Phillies that got them to first place for the first time all season. I still remember Len's call of that one. "Cubs win! The FIRST PLACE Cubs win!" It was so cheesy but I LOVED the you cant see me hand wave. I didn't know until later that he did it because of WWE.
  2. That ball flew directly over my head in the bleachers. One of the most fun games I've ever attended.
  3. 25 HR allowed in almost 450 IP entering tonight and 0 in 2018. And against a guy really struggling this year. Yeah, I’d call that pretty improbable.
  4. He’s a registered sex offender, right? How would that even work? Would he be allowed to be around the bat kids outside of during the game? The kids running the bases on Sunday? Can’t visit schools for charity visits...
  5. Maybe they’re trying to make Arrieta feel better about Philly’s awful defense.
  6. The Bears are also getting Miller a gig at the Orland Park Buffalo Wild Wings. Class acts all around!
  7. Imagine if John Lackey had to go from Javy and Almora to that. Pretty much. His K rate has dropped substantially thus far. Not going to be a good time.
  8. God, can they just move this to TNT? Van Gundy is insufferable and Jackson adds zero value or insight as a color guy.
  9. I wouldn't be surprised if the MLBPA wanted it that way.
  10. For as much as 2003 NLCS game 6 and 7 sucked. NLCS game 1 is right up there too. Cubs sweep the NLCS then if you assume the next 3 games(two of which were blowouts remain Cub victories) Maybe in hindsight, but in the moment, the game where Sammy hit a bottom of the 9th, 2 out game-tying 2-run homer wasn't painful. In a vacuum, probably the most exciting single moment of my pre-2016 Cubs fandom (maybe second behind Rondon's K to end the 2015 NLDS).
  11. And then LeBron saying he didn’t talk to him about the play. Why not just own it if you’re JR?
  12. Bay Area is another.
  13. yeah, that was a weird question. florida too, obviously. just look at how easily cubs fans can get into road playoff games usually too. atlanta couldn't sell out damn playoff games. You guys are flat out nuts if you don't think all of those markets don't have terrible, obsessive sports media out the wazoo. Atlanta's got three miserable sports radio stations just like the Vaunted Chicago Sports Market. Florida has three dozen sports stations. California has twenty seven. Illinois? Only a whopping fifteen, less than the twenty that can be found here in Virginia. No one is arguing that other markets don't have terrible, obsessive sports media people. You implied that sports in other places were "a really big deal" everywhere, which isn't true. Also, the number of sports stations doesn't necessarily speak to obsession, it speaks to concentration.
  14. No argument here. Sportswriters are idiotic just about everywhere.
  15. As opposed to where? There are a lot of big cities that care far less about sports than Chicago. In California, for example.
  16. For the sake of TT’s health, gotta make sure Hendricks gets Cervelli here’s.
  17. i have yet to meet a new york sports fan that has anything positive to say about the jordan-era bulls. i moved here at the time, they were all obsessed with the bulls.I mean, the biggest highlight of their one series win over the Bulls (Jordanless, no less) is Pippen posterizing their best player so...
