I should do one for Carl Crawford. If Pierre gets 5/45, Crawford should get 7/90. See, I don't think Pierre gets 5/45 if he's competing with several other CFs (and many are better players). Teams need to fill a void and end up getting desperate to outbid each other when there's more scarcity in the market.
He also might get the crazy idea that the Cubs have a better shot at winning the World Series than Seattle does. Money, family, AND potential to win will play a part. How much he values each, we do not know.
Hendry helps set the market by signing guys to these contracts. He did the same thing last year with relievers. Maybe if DeRosa and Gonzalez were the same player or if Gonzalez was a better player than DeRosa that would make more sense. However, we signed a much better player for a cheaper contract. It's not like Gonzalez's agent said "Hey, DeRosa got 3/$13 and my client is a much better player so he deserves more." Or maybe he did and the Reds are even dumber than I thought...
...are you coming onto me? :-s No playa if i was coming onto you i'd give ya some X, not Chef Boyardee Meaty Ravioli. I'm tryin to mess up your bowels here, not moisten your loins. 97% of the world's really ridiculously sketchy guys go to Ole Miss -Sports Illustrated
Obviously you were referring to 1868. May 14- Japanese Boshin War: End of the Battle of Utsunomiya Castle, former Shogunate forces withdraw northward to Aizu by way of Nikkō.
What caused 20000 hits on 12/7 last year? December 7, 2005: Traded by the Florida Marlins to the Chicago Cubs for Sergio Mitre, Ricky Nolasco, and Renyel Pinto. ...a day that will live in infamy
just stop talking (writing, typing, whatever) Ehh, he's made some pretty awful posts, but this one isn't completely unfounded. Of any of the aformentioned posts, this one least deserves to be criticized.
I really, really hate frozen pizza, but when I do make it, it's Tombstone. Yeah, it's pretty bad, but there's just something strangely nostalgic about eating it.
Pending a physical Soriano is a Cub. 8 years for 136 looks to be the maximum years/money. Rumors around that the last 2-3 years might be option years (no idea whose) and that approx 90 mil is guaranteed. Everybody who doesn't like the signing is negative and Jim Hendry just can't get the props he deserves. Everybody who does like the signing doesn't understand statistics or finances and needs 10 more years of school. I'm bitter and sarcastic (for the last few comments at least) what about those of us who don't like the terms but like the signing anyway?  You and I AGREE ON SOMETHING? we've agreed on a few other things. it just took me weeks to convince you I was right. Nah, I was just tired of you PMing me...

OK, so we overpaid and signed him for too many years. That I am definitely against. However, Soriano IS a good player and will help a lot next year provided he is used the right way (e.g. not batting leadoff). He's probably not going to be worth it during years 5-8, (or maybe earlier) but at the very least, he's going to help us win now. (I hope) Hopefully we can sign Drew or Manny and really bolster the offense.
Well if we lose out on Drew and he ends up in Boston, that could potentially make Manny more expendable. It really depends on what Theo is thinking. I really want both Manny AND Drew, but I think that's beginning to look less and less likely.
I did, too. Just wasn't the same for us after that injury in St. Louis, however. Although he did win a batting title after that. Yeah, he was awesome for us up until that point. Good luck to him.
