  1. If I registered for division series tickets and didn't win, do I have to re-register for NLCS tickets?
  2. I was at both Saturday's and the 1998 clincher. 1998 was BY FAR bigger.
  3. I dread the Cubs facing Manny Ramirez in any series at any time. Hey, I thought he got a haircut... HI-YOOOOOO!
  4. They're hard tickets. Just trying to get back what I paid for them. PM me if you're interested.
  5. I have a hard time believing he's afraid of being hit. Kosuke is "stepping in the bucket" when he swings or planting his stride (front) foot well further than his pivot (back) foot, one of the reasons always associated with that is being afraid to get hit. Whether or not that's true, he ain't giving himself a chance on the outer 3rd of the plate. Can you explain this more in detail? I don't quite understand what "stepping in the bucket" is or what you meant by saying he's planting his front foot farther than his back foot. his front (right) foot is striding too far toward first base, leaving the outside of the plate unreachable. think about where his feet start and where tehy end up, his front foot is further down the line when he swings than his back foot is when he steps to the plate. Ah that makes sense. Where does the "bucket" come in then?

  7. So... no control all day and now an IBB with no room for error?
  8. Keep Wrigley! 21.
  9. I listened to that ESPN 1000 report... it was replaying previous Lou comments. He said "yeah, we might throw Marshall in there. He doesn't have a dead arm, but maybe a tired arm..." I didn't hear anyone say that Z would definitely be skipped.
  10. Well, to be fair, the umpires did know that the ball hit Victorino, unlike Stockton... "Strike three!!!"
  11. I think I've only seen it once. I believe it was against the guy that is on ESPN's Baseball Tonight team now. EY, Cubs and Dodgers, the game where some fan stole an LA pitcher's hat
  12. This is stupid. On top of how stupid the rule is, it's not even the national anthem we're talking about.
  13. Mods, move to social if necessary. So last night I went to Manor to celebrate my girlfriend's 21st birthday with a few friends. At around 1 am, I go over to the bathroom and as I'm leaving I do a doubletake at a guy standing near the door. It's definitely Mike Fontenot but I was so starstruck and nervous I didn't know what to do (and I'm usually very outgoing). Me: Do I know you from somewhere? Fontenot: I'm not sure... I don't think so M: Wait... are you... Fontenot? F: Yeah, I'm Mike [extends his hand]... are you a Sox fan? M: No! No! I'm a huge Cubs fan! I just wanted to make sure! F: Ahh okay, so what's up? M: I was there yesterday (Thurs), you guys are ridiculous and we're all pulling for you. F: Thanks man... are you hammered right now? M: Yeah kinda, we're on our second bottle F: Yeah man, me too M: Well, I'm gonna head out. I'll be there on 9/20, 9/21 and the last game of the season in Milwaukee. F: Ok man I'll see you there M: See you later. I love that sneaky power by the way. F: [smiles] thanks I later saw him at his table with some ridiculous girls. If he looks slow today, it's because he was at the club until after it closed, which was at 2. Either way, he was pretty down to earth and seemed like a nice guy.
  14. I can dig up plenty of games where the 1927 Yankees were shutdown by mediocre to poor pitching You can be "inconsistent" while being "relatively consistent" at the same time. His definition of consistency obviously differs from yours. His definitely of consistency is completely unrealistic and unachievable by any baseball team. I agree with you.

  16. have you watched the cubs at all this year? jesus Yeah, I know what our inconsistent offense can do. The only reason we were able to do anything last night is because we finally got to thier bulpen. We have been completely shut down by much worse pitchers than Blanton. inconsistent? best record in the majors best avg best obp second most runs best in walks third best slugging. best in ops come on, man. jesus You could have all of those things and still be inconsistent. What if you scored 10 runs per game for one week and none for the next? I don't think we have an inconsistent offense, but saying that our team is consistent simply because it's has the above accolades makes little sense.
  17. I guess its harder to challenge good hitters than hitters on the Nationals and Reds This is true, but PIT and CIN didn't stop Zambrano from being wild
  18. I don't like this whole "our starters have no control" thing
  19. Yeah it's tough. I feel like Len does that more often than Hughes, but at least you can see it on TV.
