  1. Let's say it's $4m. Would you take a 10% paycut because your employer asked you to, since they didn't want to pay your full salary anymore? I sure wouldn't. I already said I don't blame him for wanting & getting a max deal. Just don't complain when we are at the cap at can't easily add another star player to the team. (Are there even any star players available?) And you can't compare the situation to a normal workplace. We don't have salary caps, we aren't making tens of millions in salary and even more in endorsements, we don't have championships to play for which may have an effect on a star employee's legacy, and so on. But you are blaming him. And you even threw in a silly line about his family not starving. I'm sure his goal isn't for his family to not starve -- it's for his grandkids to not have to worry about money. He hasn't come out and said anything, but if I were him I'd want to be paid what I'm worth. That goes for any employee -- NBA superstar or not. That's why I used a percentage and not hard figures.
  2. Let's say it's $4m. Would you take a 10% paycut because your employer asked you to, since they didn't want to pay your full salary anymore? I sure wouldn't. And that's 25% of his actual salary. How much Adidas pays him isn't any concern of the Bulls.
  3. Where did you find those? Amazing.
  4. Oh dear. Someone should smack him. I hope his eye at the plate isn't as awful as his eye for jewelry. Hideous. Girl's not bad though.
  5. According to the Trib, Tony was a "cult hero" along with DeRo, Theriot, Reed Johnson, Augie, others. Link
  6. Why were the 2 walk rate good/bad lines different? I realize I'm probably missing something huge here...
  7. Yeah I really didn't need to read that Game 6 recap.
  8. I think you misspelled "grit".
  9. I'm in the same boat actually. However, I decided to split a pair with a friend, but keep them in my name. Makes things a lot more palatable.
  10. If they make the WS in 2015, for example, what's it worth to you to be there?
  11. Pretty sure that's not legal unless you're a broker.
  12. I really like that commercial, mostly because he's kind of playing himself.
  13. That's pretty cool -- thanks!
  14. That's rough -- my office doesn't even carry beIN.
  15. It depends on who is ranking them (media? fans? data-driven NSBB readers?) and what the criteria is (titles? awards? performance vs. expectations?).
  16. There are going to be some very unhappy soccer viewers during his broadcasts. I don't really care that much, but it's certainly not what we're used to. Sounds like a basketball broadcast. Wow, that's... not good.
  17. Top 5 IMO or at least you can make a case for top 5. You got Phil, Red, and Riley ahead of him for sure. Then there are guys like Larry Brown, KC Jones, Chuck Daly, Jerry Sloan, etc., but I'm not sure if any of those guys should be ahead of Popovich. One could make the argument that Pop passes Riley by the time his career is over.
  18. Maybe...the number of cold weather outdoor bowl games is very limited. Boise has one and NYC has one, and I believe that's it. I feel like if there was a demand for a bowl game in Chicago, there would already be one at Soldier Field. I would imagine they haven't planned one because the field would be in pretty bad shape in late December/early Jan.
  19. It's unclear if any of the upcoming renovations will be made with other events in mind. At the presser they mentioned making arrangements to ensure more room around the football field (e.g., temporarily removing dugout tops). The Cubs will also use NU facilities for training, as they've done this past offseason. Given the Ricketts family's connection, I have to imagine that Nebraska will be one of the opponents.
  20. What a great article.
  21. Looks like its mostly on the line. Are those averages or medians, though? Doesn't seem to say.
  22. He'll be aquitted. He has a history of throwing things and accidentally hitting a person.
