    Wow. In the International FA thread, people were talking about how Gustavo Cabrera's 6.34 was in Billy Hamilton territory. 6.31, if it's legit, is filthy. I've obviously heard Meadows name alot as the top prep bat, but I had no idea he was a speed demon too. Buxton, who many consider to have 80 speed, was clocked at 6.4 by the Twins.

    Just pretend that he was essentially an advanced payment for getting dibs on Soler, and it'll feel better. I have no clue of the validity on that, but every time he gets lit up...that's what i''ll think.

    I find it amusing how some people think we even have a shot to sign him. He's made it clear he's going to college, and if the 750k or whatever we offer him could actually sway him, he'd have told the multiple teams that called him and would have been drafted higher.

    I would guess they give him a tour of Wrigley and have an informal gathering on the field with a few reporters and Theo. Or no press conference. I'd doubt he gets a normal one.

    Nice to see Baez's OBP about .100 points higher than his BA, even if it's aided by some HBP.

    Heard Austin Kubitza (Rice) mentioned with the top guys, and his numbers look pretty nice. Anyone (CR?) have a scouting report or know anything on him?

    I always forget this, is whatever team that Dempster goes to going to have to pay all of his 14 million left? Or have we already payed close to half? I always forget he's making that much. On one hand it could lower his value, on the other hand I wonder if we could get a haul if we picked up some of it.

    To reiterate, I have no clue if he watched his homer or anything. Just making the observation that he got plunked in his AB after the HR, and was curious. Could have just been random.

    Baez got HBP in his next AB. Wonder if it was random or if he watched his bomb a little too long.

    Love to read the article, just hate that fact you have to set up an account to read it. I miss Bruce's writing. :( I wonder if the change has been successful for the Daily Herald? Great to see Theo/Jed outbid everyone for Soler. Scouting reports seem very promising. Hmmm...really? I don't have any account and can read it just fine. I remember the paywall thing awhile ago, but it isn't applying to this article at least (for me).

    Personally, Soler reminds me a lot of Jason Heyward (as a prospect). Maybe less hit tool, a tick more power. Body comparison, defense, position, arm, all seem pretty much dead on. ...Obviously, i'm basing this off of nothing but photos and scouting reports.

    I've heard he has very good plate discipline for his age. Hit tool (contact) still has questions....and we know about the power. The only numbers i've ever seen on him was for the Cuban national team, maybe 2 years ago? I'm fairly certain his numbers were along the lines of .300/.500/.500.

    I'm comfortable with pretty much anything that isn't completely asinine. Theo said himself before the season if you only offer players the exact amount you think they are worth, there's a pretty good chance you're never going to get a single player you want. Got to pick your spots, and Soler fits the plan.

    There was a video snippet where Jonathon Mayo talked about the 2013 draft for a couple minutes. He was asked if Stanek were eligible this year, would he be the first pitcher taken this year. He replied that he would put him in the second tier of pitchers with Wacha. Don't agree, but that was kind of a debbie downer moment. On the other hand, i've seen Aaron Fitt of BA say he looks like an early contender for #1.

    From Muskat's blog...i'm going to trust Goldstein on the June 7 thing. Don't want to wait until signing deadline like Muskat thinks.
