  1. The well isn't dry at all; that's nonsense. And there's always the risk of ultimately regretting giving up a prospect. That's not a definitive reason in and of itself to not make moves to help the team right way. The Rangers gave up their 4th, 5th, 6th, 17th, 29th prospects and Matt Harrison for Cole Hamels. That's like the Cubs giving up Carl Edwards Jr, Duane Underwood, Albert Almora, Jen Ho Tseng, Jeremy Null, and Clayton Richard on a bigger salary for Hamels. No thanks. I'm a prospect hoarder and I'd do that trade in an instant.
  2. FYI, if you add the tweet tags(it's next to the Youtube logo when you create/edit a post), those tweets will get embedded. Thanks! And yeah Rangers going after him is a bit confusing. They're 5 games back of the second wild card I believe. 8 games back.
  3. I'm sorry but Alfaro kind of sucks. Not particularly good behind the plate, plate discipline sucks, and is known for his power despite a career .430 slugging. He's like Avicail Garcia in that he gets overrated because he physically resembles a superstar. I guess I shouldn't say "sucks" because the potential is there, but I wouldn't want him headlining anything in a deal of this magnitude if I'm a GM.
  4. I know we still haven't scored a ton of runs lately, but the offense seems so much more interesting with high OBP Fowler back.
  5. I haven't watched closely but I don't think he's had much action.
  6. It still amazes me that you think a 22 year old SS hitting .325/.399/.567 in the minors this year is "maybe a top-50 prospect" after being top 10 midseason last year and after all the recent prospects losing their eligibility. In the same universe where likely left-fielder Joey Gallo is pretty much a consensus midseason top 5 prospect with a 44% K-rate in the majors and a 36% K-rate in AAA. Like, I get if you personally evaluate him like that, but you honestly think the major publications would rank him between 35-50 after these promotions?
  7. I hate how disappointed that makes me It was in direct reference to him being double-switched in a weird way and being given a day off. Just letting him know an imminent trade wasn't the reason both of those things were happening. I don't think it was any sort of guarantee past that.
  8. A K-less day would bring his K-rate to 24% (*knocks on wood*).
  9. Still no Starlin. Even if it's nontrade, I have a random feeling that they might keep Russell there starting today.
  10. Yeah, I know about the Coors thing but I feel like he'd rake at Wrigley and a .750+ OPS on the road isn't that bad in this depressed run environment.
  11. For some reason I was thinking that Cargo has been bad a lot longer than 1 single injury riddled season.
  12. He's been top 3 on most midseason lists from what I remember. BA and Law, not sure on FG.
  13. BA had him at 7 right before he was promoted and there have been a bajillion big name promotions since then. Just find it hard to fathom when it was pretty predictable he'd struggle badly. But maybe I'm wrong.
  14. You do not give up top tier prospects for the right to pay a pitcher 25-30M a year. I'm not sure there are any top-tier prospects in that proposal. We know your thoughts on Baez so I'm not here to argue, but if he was eligible, isn't Baez pretty much a top 6ish prospect in the game right now? I can't imagine the ranking systems putting that much stock into under 2 months of ML AB's that young when he was ranked so highly before. Obviously high risk, but I think the top tier label would need a little more time before it goes away.
  15. The amount of White Sox fans that still think Avisail Garcia is going to turn into some budding superstar is spectacular. Never has somewhat physically resembling Miguel Cabrera done so much for a guy.
  16. I've always thought he seems like a White Sox kind of guy.
  17. His next tweet says 1.95 would be above average.
  18. To be fair, it seems like it's the idiots who get trolled. SAS, Kaplan, Broussard, Bernstein, Gordo, etc. It's not like people are trolling Patrick Mooney for kicks and giggles. And from what I can tell it's mostly just random funny replies to tweets, it's not like people are spamming them with 50 unsolicited @'s.
  19. I do not understand. He was throwing a hissy fit to one of the cable companies about the Hawks not being on TV when it was actually on a random channel until another OT game finished up and they could switch it back to NBC sports. I just wrote "try a little harder, Dan" since it was actually still on another channel and then he muted me on Twitter ( which I know because I use to do his stupid crossword puzzles he tweeted and now he never acknowledges I was right, even when I answer first.) It's not a particularly good story, but I threw it out there since everyone was posting their stories and he's a douche.
  20. Bernstein muted me when I told him try "try harder" to find the magical channel the Hawks were on. Soft.
