  1. They'll pay him less than he'd make in arbitration, and much less than he'd make in Free Agency. $8m for likely 900+ OPS for a guy you didn't even bring up through your system or trade talent for = steal.
  2. Wow, that's an absolute steal. Amazing that a guy coming off a 46/121 season will make $1m more per year than Marquis. I'm surprised Boras acquiesced to such a small figure.
  3. I don't know what I was thinking. #-o Sam Gagner and Hemsky especially. I always like watching the video of his first SO goal where he undresses Harding.
  4. 24 round shootout in the Caps-Oilers game. What's more, the first 22 rounds were scoreless until Matt Bradley scored the go ahead goal.
  5. Interesting that the Rays would get rid of Delmon Young and Elijah Dukes and then take on this guy.
  6. Lastings Milledge Carlos Quentin Ubaldo Jimenez Zack Greinke Erick Aybar Edwar Ramirez Travis Buck Paul Maholm Kevin Kouzmanoff Adam Wainwright Edwin Jackson
  7. I saw that on Sportscenter last night, that's one of the best saves of the season so far. DiPietro had a terrific glove save too yesterday. I've been considering adding Nittymaki in my fantasy hockey league. I finally dropped Backstrom (Min) and haven't decided if I want to carry 3 or 4 goalies. Conklin, Gerber and Garon is what I have now. I might opt for Harding over Antero if I do, still.
  8. I was being civil about things, but the fact is I'd love to be in a money league with you if you're drafting Russ Martin 4th overall.
  9. I'm not really sure what benefit there is in your methodology in using comparative distributions for the players. Fantasy baseball is purely about stat accumulation, so it might be more prudent to value players based on how much they will contribute to your overall bottom line (based on projections in this case). Assume we have sufficient data to suggest the average 10 team league will have totals of 930 R, 235 HR, 900 RBI, 125 SB, .285 BA, arbitrarily. This is a simplification of what I've seen in various places. Wouldn't it make the most sense to equate everything in terms of scarcity, relational to runs for instance. So, every HR is worth 3.96 pts, a RBI virtually = 1, SBs 7.44 pts, etc. Avg is a different story, but it could still be worked out similarly. Wouldn't that give you the best indicator of true value for a player's production? How much of your team's final totals they'll accrue. That at least seemed to me to be the logical way of ranking players, but steals specialists came out with exaggerated values. I haven't had much time to think about it more, but I figured that the most sensible way to go.
  10. I'll be a Jaguars rep.
  11. Zach Randolph would be the league MVP if he only played games against the Pistons.
  12. well, NE wins next week: 41-10.
  13. I think Wayne broke Florence's ankles.
  14. The Chargers have been opportunistic thus far, that's for sure.
  15. I hate Rodney Harrison. and Wes Welker. And Junior Seau.
  16. They weren't talking about them much when they were up 2 scores.
  17. The announcers don't have much use for the Seahawks.
  18. I wonder if any Packers fans would prefer Javon Walker over Jennings still.
  19. This one's far from over.
  20. Wow. Ryan Grant.
  21. Catchers are far too high-risk/low-reward to merit such inflated rankings. As long as you can get one of the top-6 or so catchers out there, you'll be fine. I would reach on one if the only other alternatives were players the level of Estrada/Napoli, but there's more depth in the position than your rankings indicate. I definitely would not draft a catcher in the top 25. There's other disagreements I have, but that's moreso with Bill James. I see Towles is this year's Chris Iannetta, who he had as .900+ OPS last year.
  22. Chargers are the sole upset this week. Though I'd give anything for a Jaguars win tonight.
  23. What's the fantasy league scoring system these are reflecting?
  24. I'd give it a shot.
