  1. that situation's even murkier than minnesota's CF vacancy. what do they have, 5 guys vying for the spot with Nix, Stewart, Baker, Young, Barmes? what a mess. as for Phillips, I know the projections are down on him, but I'm still bullish. they're factoring in the last 3 years of performance with which the first two were highly unimpressive before a breakout and I don't think they properly weight the breakout year. Carlos Pena is another example of this, where I like him to be a .550 slugger this year, and he's floating around .500 or slightly less in the few I've seen. I'll go to war with these two guys, they're too talented to regress that much.
  2. what a difference a good glove makes. if he plays great defense he might be worth a $70m contract from the Angels.
  3. It'd be much easier to fix if I weren't excel-[expletive] and had to input each "=RANK(H,H:H)", individually, throwing the specific row number into each equation. But I'm 20% done, so it shouldn't be too much longer. individually? if i'm understanding you correctly, you can more quickly accomplish this. hover your mouse over the lower right hand corner of the cell so you get a + showing as your cursor, and click and drag downward to as many cells you want have that formula copied to (it adjusts the formulas to associate with cells in the same row). or you could just double-click when you get the + showing and it will copy down as far as there are cells populated adjacently.

  5. the o dog - 42.7 warp3 in 3031 pa miguel cabrera - 39.2 warp3 in 3072 pa true story
  6. i like milledge a little better. they're similar but he'll have marginally better numbers across the board.
  7. Fredric Sjostrom, David LeNeveu and Josh Gratton for Al Montoya and Marcel Hossa. What's the point for Sather to make this deal? other moves Marc-Andre Bergeron to Anaheim for 3rd rounder Brad Stuart to Wings for 2nd & 4th Matt Cooke to Caps for Matt Pettinger Tuomo Ruutu to Canes for Andrew Ladd Adam Foote to Avs for cond. 1st Sergei Fedorov to Caps for Theo Ruth Ruslan Salei to Avs for Karlis Skrastins
  8. Good thing. Malkin could use a scorer on his wing to help him break out of his slump. But seriously, that's a ton for a rental. They can't possibly afford to extend him with new Crosby and Malkin (and Fleury?) deals upcoming these next couple years. Now every penalty will result in a goal with Malkin-Sid-Hossa-Gonchar-Whitney PP.
  9. Yao-ch
  10. Isaiah Thomas or Matt Millen: who gets lifetime contract first?
  11. Putz will be the better pitcher this year by 2 roto pts or so, but given its a dynasty league, YoGa makes much more sense than a 32 year old closer. Plus there's the benefit that if he faces surgery or some terrible injury, I'll have consolation in Cubs winning the division easily.
  12. and Vinny Prospal to Flyers for Alex Picard and picks. but the Huet trade really puts a lot of pressure on Carey Price now.
  13. and he still almost reached 100 RBI. he's in the same class as martin and mauer.
  14. well, other than at least 60 K and better ERA/WHIP, he's right...
  15. those guys are obnoxiously myopic. i enjoy the site as a collection of bad sports journalism articles, but their attitude of unwarranted condescension in the comments gets tedious pretty fast.
  16. I'm guessing Von Joshua. He seems to be King Midas lately, the only capable instructor in the system.
  17. What if Gordon walks? J.R. is a surefire 15 PPG player if he gets starter's PT.
  18. well we might as well not put any hitters on a prospect list, if that's the case. i'd like to hope things are changing for the better with our hitting prospects looking better than in the past. i wasn't really saying I disagreed with you, but I just was curious the reason for such adamant negativity for Vitters, mainly. the others have glaring question marks, but the prospect lists that like these guys have access to that information too, and must see some sign to provide optimism they're able to fix the flaws. you aren't in the 'shoulda drafted snider' crowd, i assume?
  19. I got bored at work earlier. It was never a high priority. I don't see how this is pertinent to my initial point. I was speaking for the rankings in general they post. But it does appear most of the egregious wrongs that had came to mind were on Jazayerli. I didn't really have a motive, like I said I got bored. If I find the 2001s I might do them up.
  20. Gerald Green traded to Houston Maybe he should have gone to college.
  21. FWIW 2001: http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e382/harryddunn/bpba01.jpg 2002: http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e382/harryddunn/bpba02.jpg?t=1203791949
  22. i don't see the love for Bryan Anderson. If you're talking about EqA, Pecota has him in the .240.245 range the next few years peaking at .260 (.270/.330/.425) with mediocre at best defense. that's just gross.
  23. if your fantasies involve Khalil Greene, may God have pity on your soul.
  24. I was watching a O's - Twins broadcast on ESPN last year and (I think it was) Gary Thorne was talking about the catching talents on display from both teams, with Mauer who was the batting champion, Redmond who hit like .330 and 20 HR hitter Ramon Hernandez. A couple seconds later Dusty interjected, "...and Bako!" in the most sincere voice possible. Man, I really don't miss that guy one bit.
