  1. fwiw, Vitters' career BABiP so far is .297 and his speed score is 4.3
  2. music to my ears now we can sign a couple decent starters (Josh Wilson?, Tulloch/Nicholas?) to push some flawed players into depth roles and i'll start printing playoff tickets
  3. he's Bonds-ian in that he stands close enough to the plate to be able to pull outside pitches and has the eye to pass on pitches he can't murder; this HR (@1:25) off David Price is likely called a ball, outside, if he doesn't swing and he still pulls it out to LF 5 of his 9 HR are actually on pitches that were on the outer-third of the plate (and last year he had similar success in plate coverage) http://joelefkowitz.com/batter_hr_sm.php?d1=-1&d2=-1&y=2011&pid=430832
  4. Kobe choked? In what way? There was a foul on the lost ball which wasn't called SURELY YOU JEST
  5. 2012 mock draft
  6. seems like two big winners in this draft are Walterfootball, for their prediction on Mallett falling so far, and Gosselin for nailing most of the first round
  7. it does seem like a ton to give up for what's surely a part-time RB for us hard to judge until i see what we do in FA for LB, CB, G
  8. i still can't believe the other-worldly haul the Browns got for the 6th pick they'll have a hard time not having the best draft of any team for the next year and this one
  9. stop it, you're giving me a semi with this talk
  10. i think Vince Young's a better comparison, but trading bad emotional makeup for off-putting conceit
  11. even signing [expletive] Drew Stanton to an offer sheet with his original 2nd round tender seems like a smarter idea than reaching on any of these mentioned QBs and paying them slot money
  12. this would have been a good opportunity for that http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/team-joy-squad-25-21/
  13. 68 HR in his last 190 games (.271/.390/.641) 57 HR in his previous 567 games (.238/.330/.392)
  14. Guyer's hitting .356/.413/.616 with 4 home runs in 73 ABs for AAA Durham.
  15. He's a point a game player, one of the top 5 passers in the league, who hasn't even entered his prime yet. People who are saying that just started watching the Hawks last year. Not saying that as a slam against them because I want the NHL to have as many fans as possible, but his skill-set is extraordinary and under no circumstances do you shop him. And some people were saying he disappears when the going gets tough. What the hell game have they been watching the past few years? He's got over a PPG in the playoffs and, oh yeah, scored the STANLEY CUP WINNING GOAL. People are dumb.
  16. oh man, i'd love it if Ponder & Dalton went in the top 12 but we're probably the deepest team in the league at the DT position, so Fairley makes about as much sense as a QB, though i'd love to see all the personal fouls he and Suh could commit together
  17. great to see Szczur with a big game too: 3-4, 2B, BB, K
  18. catchers BABIP is usually ~.095 above their LD rate
  19. it seems like the majority of expert mocks have us taking Amukamara, which is just setting me up for terrible disappointment is this the agreed upon most likely top-12 right now? 1 Car - Newton 2 Den - Dareus 3 Buf - Miller (alt: Gabbert) 4 Cin - Green 5 Ari - Peterson (Miller) 6 Cle - Quinn 7 SF - Gabbert (Peterson) 8 Ten - Fairley 9 Dal - T.Smith 10 Was - J.Jones 11 Ten - A.Smith 12 Min - C.Jordan
  20. He'll get one tomorrow. Has Quade batted Aramis #3 at all this year? No, and he's not going to. He said Aramis at #4 is the only spot in the batting order that is set in stone. What a jerk. what's wrong with that?
  21. definitely glad to see Byrd get moved down in the order, though HR Baker isn't really the most ideal replacement well, with that lineup i guess he is
  22. watching the Yankees-White Sox game, and now Sutcliffe is trying to make me hate Barney "i talked with Ryne Sandberg, who coached Barney in AAA, and he said 'he reminds me of Craig Counsell and David Eckstein; he's a guy who helps you win'"
  23. Barney just HRed? next year let's just send everybody on the team to Camp Colvin
  24. i shudder to think how much worse Aaron Harang would terrify small children then
